"That lying wench," Lily thought as she watched the security footage.
Just like Lily thought, the security footage showed that it was the kid's fault. In fact, it looked as if the mother told the child to bump into Garrett. Seeing this made Lily growl under her breath. 'She's a terrible mother!' she thought of how this mother could willingly endanger her child.
Lily pulled out her phone and began recording the security footage. "Thank you," she said to the cashier and the manager. She grabbed Garrett's hand and stormed out of the cake shop with him right behind her.
As soon as the crowd saw the video, they started to apologize and disperse. After all, the child did bump into Garrett and so the mother could not blame others or be unreasonable anymore. Also, no one wanted to be sued.
The mother rolled her eyes and thought of another excuse. She didn't care what this idiot girl said or showed. She heard about how Mr. Hunter paid people off to avoid bad publicity. She was going to get a payday one way or another.
"Well, my child is young and he doesn't really know things. Besides, you scared my child, you..." the mother started again with her lies.
"You told him to do it!" Lily snapped, interrupting the mother and pointed at the video. "So, that is a poor excuse for your behavior. I won't blame the child because the child doesn't know any better. But you, you, I blame you. Whatever you're trying to do, you're not going to be able to do it. Everyone sees you for what you are. A liar and you need to apologize and pay for his suit!"
"I refuse. I did nothing wrong and my son did nothing wrong," the mother countered.
"You did everything wrong. Do you really think I am going to let you get away with this?" Lily questioned. The tone of her voice made the mother rethink her plan. Was this young woman going to beat her in the parking lot?
The determination in her eyes made her feel that she would, so she finally said with a dirty look at her, "Fine! Give me the tag, and I'll pay you half of the price! My husband can afford it no problem."
Hearing her words, Lily wanted to walk over and slap some sense into the woman, but then she got a good idea and smiled mischievously. She certainly was not going to let this woman off easily.
Lily turned to Garrett and stretched out her small hand to him before saying, "Let your secretary send the tag."
Garrett looked at her beautiful face. Her cheeks were rosy because of excitement as if she had finally caught her prey and was ready to devour it. 'She is so fierce,' Berric said in approval.
At the moment, Lily felt like she was fighting in a battle and if she could help Garrett gain justice, her joy would be immense.
No one would insult and bully him! Not on her watch! Lily was done with allowing people to walk all over her or anyone she cared about.
Garrett put his hand in hers and grasped it tightly, surprising Lily. She tried to pull it back, but he held on to her. Lily blushed and her flushed cheeks became even redder.
"What... What are you doing? I mean the tag, not your hand," Lily stammered.
"I like you calling me 'my man', keep doing so in the future," Garrett responded only low enough for Lily to hear him.
He smiled with his dark, deep eyes affectionately fixed on Lily. 'Oh boy, this man knows how to sweet talk,' Dina, Lily's wolf, said in approval.
From the moment Lily came back and did not run from him, Garrett made up his mind that he would make her his mate. Just now, she protected him with no hesitation, which proved that his decision was right.
He would never let her go.
Lily looked into his deep eyes, only feeling that they were like deep waters. She could not see clearly what sort of emotions were there and she didn't dare to stare at them for too long. She felt as if she were naked under his intense gaze. Lily averted her eyes and let him hold her hand.
Garrett's secretary had already prepared the price tag while Garrett and Lily were viewing the security footage. This suit was the work of the famous Italian designer Lyon who never attached a tag to his clothes because he hated to price his works. But Garrett's secretary knew the price because Garrett and Lyon had a close relationship and Garrett never liked to owe anyone anything.
"Sir and ma'am," Garrett's secretary said as he approached. He offered the tag to Lily before returning to the car.
Lily was stunned when she saw the estimated price. She counted the zero several times and gaped at the tag. 'This is almost a million dollars. How...how could he afford this?' Lily thought. If the woman wanted to pay half the price, she would have to pay half a million.
Lily then offered the tag to the mother. Garrett began leading Lily back to the limo after she gave the tag to her. When the mother saw the price, she was totally dumbfounded.
After she got over the sudden shock, the mother started to exclaim, "There is no way this suit costs this damn much! You are trying to get over on me!"
Her rage was now rekindled and Lily wanted to say something, but Garrett stopped her, "Leave it to my secretary. He'll handle it."
Garrett took off his coat and gave it to Adam, who was standing outside of the car after opening the door for them. Then, he got into the car and pulled Lily into the car with him.
Lily became nervous as she ended up in Garrett's lap when the car door was closed. "Where are you taking me?"
