"That's... that's awful," Lily said covering her mouth in horror. "Wait, was that the cruise ship massacre? Were humans the cause of it?"
"Yes, unfortunately. We couldn't determine if it was typical liquor antics or if hunters were involved," Adam answered. Hunters were humans that knew about the supernatural and decided to hunt them down. Many disasters in the world were due to them covering up their crimes.
"Alpha Jack searched and searched for the cause. It didn't seem like extremists were involved, but Alpha Jack never shook the feeling that there were," Adam continued solemnly.
Matthew had mentioned having another sibling that died, but Lily had just assumed that it was a pup that had died of natural causes. "Why did no one ever speak of this? I didn't even know that he had a twin or simply a brother that passed away?" Lily asked.
"Alpha Jack does not believe in releasing information that would make him or his pack vulnerable. He forced his entire pack to never speak of Barrett again. That is part of the reason why Alpha Garrett has a strained relationship with his father," Adam replied. "I would advise that you don't bring it up to Alpha Garrett. He will tell you in his own time. The death of Barrett was a severe blow to him, he was depressed for many years. He just recently recovered."
"I see. Thank you," Lily said sincerely, suddenly feeling pity for Garrett. He'd been through death, and the issue of his face must be an awful reminder of what happened. Every time someone brought it up it must hurt him. She felt awful about how she responded to him when she first met him.
'We didn't know that then and we're past it,' Dina assured her.
Lily stepped through the front door of the villa, feeling a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation. Tonight was the premiere of a highly anticipated movie, and she had been invited by Garrett to attend as his guest. She knew it would be a glamorous event, and she wanted to make a lasting impression.
Rushing up to her room, Lily hung up the dress she bought for the evening. She wanted to look elegant and sophisticated, yet effortlessly stunning, so she bought a beautiful blue halter evening gown, its flowing fabric catching the light. It was perfect.
'Wear the blue lingerie set,' Dina instructed.
'No, that's not the right time,' Lily said.
'It is the perfect time. You will be in a private room with him. Put it on,' Dina urged.
Lily put on the lingerie set. Then, slipping into the dress, she admired herself in the mirror, feeling a surge of confidence.
Next, Lily turned her attention to her hair. She decided on soft, romantic curls that cascaded down her back. She carefully styled her hair into a high ponytail, leaving a few strands loose to frame her face. With a final touch of subtle makeup and a hint of her favorite perfume, Lily was ready to go.
As she descended the stairs, she caught sight of Adam waiting in the foyer. His eyes widened appreciatively as he took in her appearance. "You look stunning, Luna," he complimented, offering her a warm smile.
Blushing slightly at the compliment, Lily thanked him and joined him in the car. As they drove towards the premiere venue, a new movie theatre designed like a magnificent theatrical palace, a sense of excitement filled the air. The anticipation of watching the pilot episode of Midnight Oblivion surrounded by the glitz and glamour of the event, made Lily's heart race with joy.
"I never got to do anything like this with my family," Lily said.
"Well, get used to it Luna. We're going to make sure you experience the finest things this world has to offer," Adam stated.
The car came to a halt, and Adam quickly got out, rushing to open the door for Lily. She stepped out gracefully, feeling like a star about to make her grand entrance. As they walked towards the entrance, she couldn't help but notice the admiring glances from the onlookers, their eyes drawn to her radiant presence.
"The dress was a good choice. You look just like a Luna should," Adam complimented her again.
"Thank you, Adam," Lily said.
They entered the bustling lobby, filled with elegantly dressed guests and the hum of conversations. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and anticipation, further fueling Lily's own eagerness. Finally, they reached the entrance to the opera box.
Lily was about to enter when she was greeted by a familiar and unwelcome scent. "That's Alpha Jack. I thought it was supposed to be just Garrett and I," Lily whispered to Adam.
"I know it's not exactly what you hoped for, but it's an important night for Garrett. Alpha Jack's presence is expected. He never misses any of Alpha Garrett's premieres," Adam explained.
'So much for getting nasty in the opera box,' Dina huffed. Lily would be lying if she wasn't disappointed. She had put on this uncomfortable thong just to show Garrett and now it was for nothing.
Lily entered the opera room and noticed the tension in the air. Garrett and Alpha Jack were standing, looking as if they had just been arguing. Lily remembered Alpha Jack vaguely. She barely remembered him from the rejection ceremony and she also didn't remember him the night she was invited over as she had been beaten so badly by Daniel. The thought of it made her cringe.
Garrett did perk up up once he saw Lily and walked over to her. Her kissed her passionately making her kneesweak. "I am happy that you made it."
"Are you not going to introduce us?" Alpha Jack demanded.
"Are you... Dad, this is my future mate, Lily Bray," Garrett said.
"A pleasure sir," Lily said.
"Hmm, you shouldn't be so nice to me girl. I allowed you to be harmed on my watch. I apologize for that," Alpha Jack stated.
Lily nodded and said, "It's fine. It wasn't your fault."
Lily took her seat next to Garrett, ignoring Alpha Jack. As the lights dimmed and the screen came to life, Lily's disappointment about Alpha Jack's presence faded into the background. She focused on the captivating storyline and the talent of the actors.
