POV: Ravenna
The negotiations take three days.
Three days of Father and Thalassa sitting across from each other. Discussing borders. Trade agreements. Military cooperation. Reparations for villages destroyed. Compensation for soldiers killed.
All the complicated political MESS that comes with ending wars you should never have started.
I attend every session. Silent observer. Proof that this matters. That we're building something real instead of just temporary truce.
On the third day, they finally reach agreement. Formal peace treaty. Fire and Water kingdoms allied instead of enemies. It's—actually impressive. Watching two stubborn monarchs put aside pride for the sake of their people.
"Now," Father says when the treaty is signed. "We discuss the real threats. Eclipse and Earth Kingdom."
"Yes." Thalassa's face goes hard. "Tell me about the Eclipse. Everything you know."
So we do. Father and I together. Sharing testimony from survivors. Documents from the village. Seraphine's letters implicating Cassian. Ambassador Silas's confession. General Stone's involvement. Lord Thorne's financial records.
Everything we've gathered about the organization that's been hunting gift-bearers for thirty years.
Thalassa listens. Her face growing progressively more HORRIFIED with each revelation.
"Silas," she says finally. Voice hollow. "Ambassador Silas served Aetherwyn for twenty-five years. He was TRUSTED. Respected. I gave him ACCESS to my court, my council, my—" She stops. "And he was Eclipse. Using his position to identify gift-bearers. To coordinate their elimination."
"Yes," I say gently. "The Eclipse infiltrates everywhere. Hides behind positions of trust and respectability."
"And this Lady Seris? She leads them?"
"We believe so. Yes." Father pushes Seraphine's letters across the table. "Correspondence spanning twelve years. Coded language discussing assassinations. Planning attacks. Coordinating operations across kingdoms." He pauses. "Including orchestrating my wife's murder twenty-one years ago."
Thalassa reads the letters. Her hands shake slightly. "Elara. They killed Elara because she was healer. Because she had the gift."
"Because she was powerful. Influential. Capable of saving lives the Eclipse wanted ended." Father's voice is rough with old grief. "Seris was at the birthing chamber. As diplomatic observer. She had access. Opportunity. And apparently specific poison designed to mimic childbirth complications."
"That's—" Thalassa looks sick. "That's MONSTROUS."
"That's the Eclipse." I'm firm. "They operate through trust. Through infiltration. Through making murder look like accident or natural causes." I pause. "And they've been doing it for DECADES. Hundreds killed. Maybe thousands. All gift-bearers who threatened their ideology."
"What ideology?"
"That rare gifts are corruption. That the Pact gave us four elements and anything beyond that is dangerous." I gesture at all the evidence. "They believe they're protecting balance by eliminating gift-bearers. That they're heroes preventing chaos."
"They're murderers with philosophy justification," Morgana adds from where she stands guard. "No different from any other genocidal organization. Just better organized."
Thalassa is quiet for long moment. Processing. Understanding the SCOPE of what we're facing.
"How many Eclipse members have been identified?" she asks finally.
"Inner circle? Five." Father counts on fingers. "Lady Seris—founder and leader. General Stone of Earth Kingdom—confirmed shield gift, hypocrite who hunts others. Ambassador Silas of Aetherwyn—arrested and confessed. Lord Marcus Thorne of Cindravale—Master of Coin, financial coordinator. Cassian Lucien of Cindravale—political manipulator, recently appointed to my council." He pauses. "Plus The Shadow—master assassin with shadow manipulation gift. Identity unknown."
"And outer circle? Sympathizers?"
"Dozens. Maybe hundreds across all kingdoms." I'm grim. "Anyone who fears gift-bearers. Anyone who believes Eclipse ideology. Anyone with resources willing to help hunt us."
"How do we FIGHT that?" Thalassa demands. "How do we dismantle organization embedded at highest levels of every kingdom?"
"We start by arresting everyone we've identified," Father says. "Simultaneously. Across kingdoms. Before they can warn each other or escape." He looks at Thalassa. "I arrest Thorne and Cassian here. You send forces to secure Silas—already imprisoned but needs proper guarding. Earth Kingdom—" He stops. "Earth Kingdom is problem."
"Because Volcris threatens invasion," Thalassa finishes. "And General Stone serves him. If we move against Stone, Volcris might interpret it as aggression."
"Or," I say slowly, "we use it as leverage. We have proof Stone is Eclipse. That he hunts gift-bearers illegally. We present that evidence to Volcris and demand Stone's arrest." I pause. "If Volcris refuses, we have justification for joint military action. Fire and Water kingdoms united against Earth Kingdom harboring war criminals."
"That could trigger full war," Saren points out.
"We're already facing that threat," Theron says. He's recovered enough to attend meetings now. Still healing but FUNCTIONAL. "Volcris threatened invasion if we didn't establish peace. We HAVE peace now. We're allied. We present united front."
"But will that be enough to deter him?" Father asks.
"Probably not." Hadrian's voice is grim. "Volcris sees opportunity. Alliance makes us less vulnerable but not safe. He still has largest army. Most resources. Most aggressive military doctrine."
"Then we prepare for that too," Thalassa says. Her voice is hard. Decisive. "We coordinate defenses. Share intelligence. Unite our forces." She looks at Father. "Fire and Water kingdoms fought each other for WEEKS. Now we turn that military strength against actual threats. Eclipse AND Earth Kingdom."
"Agreed." Father stands. Extends his hand. "Alliance?"
Thalassa stands. Takes his hand. "Alliance."
They shake. Formally. Witnessed by both courts and Air Kingdom observers.
Just like that, centuries of tension between Fire and Water kingdoms... END.
Not permanently. Not perfectly. But FUNCTIONALLY. Two kingdoms choosing cooperation over conflict.
It's—actually incredible.
"We move tomorrow," Father says. "Arrest Thorne and Cassian before they realize we're coordinating. Before Eclipse can prepare." He looks at Thalassa. "Your forces secure Silas in Aetherwyn."
"Done."
"Air Kingdom contacts General Stone," Father continues. "Present evidence. Demand arrest. If Volcris refuses, we have justification for action."
"What about Seris?" I ask. "She's the founder. The LEADER. Arresting foot soldiers doesn't stop her."
"We use arrested members as leverage," Theron says. "Interrogate them. Force testimony. Build undeniable case against her." He pauses. "And we offer deals. Confess everything, implicate Seris, provide evidence—in exchange for exile instead of execution."
"You think they'll turn?" Morgana asks skeptically.
"Some will." His voice is certain. "Eclipse members are believers and opportunists. Believers won't turn. But opportunists? They'll save themselves if offered chance."
"Then we start tomorrow," I say. "We arrest Eclipse members. We interrogate. We build case. And we END thirty years of genocide."
Everyone nods. Agreement. Purpose. UNITY.
For first time since this started, we're not reacting. We're not defending. We're not just surviving.
We're ATTACKING. Taking the fight to Eclipse instead of waiting for them to hunt us.
It feels—right. Powerful. Like we're finally doing what should have been done decades ago.
"One more thing," Thalassa says. She's looking at me. "The Shadow. This assassin with shadow manipulation gift. He's attacked both kingdoms. Targeted Ravenna specifically."
"Multiple times," I confirm.
"Then I'm assigning water kingdom hunters to track him. Find him. CAPTURE him." Her voice is steel. "He threatened my granddaughter. That's personal now."
Something warm blooms in my chest. "Thank you, Grandmother."
"Don't thank me yet." But she's almost smiling. "Thank me when we've captured every Eclipse member and ended their organization forever."
"Deal."
The meeting ends. Plans solidified. Alliance formalized. Tomorrow everything changes.
Tomorrow we stop running and start HUNTING.
Eclipse wanted war between kingdoms. Wanted chaos and division.
Instead, they created unity. Created alliance. Created exactly what they FEARED—kingdoms working together to destroy them.
Seris should be terrified.
Because we're coming. All of us. United.
And this time, there's nowhere for her to hide.
