POV: Ravenna
Father summons me to the throne room three months after I announce my pregnancy.
Not the war room. Not his private chambers. The THRONE ROOM. Formal. Official. Which means this is—this is IMPORTANT.
I waddle in. Because that's what I do now. Waddle. At four months pregnant, my belly is undeniable and my grace is gone.
Theron walks beside me, hand ready to steady me if I trip over literally nothing. Which has happened. Twice. This week.
"You summoned me?" I ask Father.
He's standing before the throne. Not sitting. Standing. Looking at it like—like he's saying GOODBYE.
"I'm abdicating," he says.
I blink. "You're—what?"
"Abdicating. Within six months." He turns to face me. "I'm passing the crown to you, Ravenna. Making you Queen of Cindravale officially."
"But—but I'm not—I can't—"
"You can." His voice is firm. "You've proven yourself a hundred times over. You survived trials. Awakened your gift. United kingdoms. Fought the Eclipse. You're READY."
"I'm PREGNANT—"
"Which is exactly why we're doing this now." He walks closer. "The coronation will be in three months. Before you're too far along. Before the baby comes and everything is chaos." He smiles slightly. "I've been king for thirty-two years, Ravenna. I'm tired. More importantly, you're ready to lead. And I'm ready to step back."
I look at Theron. He's watching me with steady amber eyes. Supporting whatever I decide.
"You want me to be queen." The word sounds foreign. Impossible.
"I want you to lead the kingdom you've already been leading," Father corrects. "You think I don't see how court defers to you? How people come to YOU with problems? How you've been making policy decisions for months?" He pauses. "You're already ruling, Ravenna. We're just making it official."
"What about you?"
"I'll remain as advisor. Consultant. But the CROWN—the responsibility—that's yours now." He takes my hands. "You've earned this. Let me give it to you."
I want to argue. Want to insist I'm not ready. That I'm too young, too inexperienced, too PREGNANT to rule a kingdom.
But he's right. I've BEEN ruling. Making decisions. Leading. Building.
Maybe it's time to make it official.
"Okay," I whisper. "Okay. I'll—I'll do it."
Father pulls me into a hug. "Your mother would be so proud."

The coronation planning is CHAOS.
Invitations to all four kingdoms. Arrangements for hundreds of guests. Security protocols because Seris is still out there. Designing a crown. Preparing speeches. Fitting ceremonial robes around my growing belly.
"This is INSANE," I tell Morgana. "How did Father do this?"
"He wasn't pregnant when he was crowned," she points out. "That probably helped."
"Very funny."
"Also he had advisors. Which brings me to—" She pauses. "Rav, I need to ask you something."
"What?"
"When you're queen, you'll need a chief advisor. Someone to help navigate politics. Manage court. Keep you from accidentally starting wars through diplomatic disasters." She straightens. "I want that position."
I stare at her. "You—you want to be my chief advisor?"
"I've been DOING it for months. Organizing your schedule. Reviewing policies. Keeping track of which nobles hate which other nobles." She grins. "Might as well make it official."
"You'd be amazing." I grab her hands. "Yes. Absolutely yes. You're hired. Or appointed. Or—however this works."
"I accept." She hugs me carefully, mindful of my belly. "We're going to build something good, Rav. Something that LASTS."

Theron is being crowned Consort.
It's unusual—a common-born warrior becoming royal consort. But Father insists.
"You've earned it through your actions," he tells Theron. "You protected my daughter. Fought for this kingdom. Survived impossible odds. Birth doesn't determine worth—CHOICES do. And you've made the right choices every time."
Theron looks uncomfortable with the praise. "I don't need a title—"
"You DESERVE one." Father's voice is firm. "And Ravenna needs a partner who stands beside her. Equal. Not behind as some lesser figure." He pauses. "Will you accept?"
Theron looks at me. I nod. This is HIS choice.
"Yes," he says finally. "I accept."
"Good." Father actually SMILES. "Now we need to discuss your role. Consort isn't just decoration. You'll have actual responsibilities—"
"Military oversight," Theron interrupts. "Let me rebuild the warrior training programs. Integrate Fire and Water combat styles. Create joint forces."
"Done." Father extends his hand. They shake. "Welcome to leadership, son."
Son. Father called him SON.
Something warm and bright unfolds in my chest.

The other positions fall into place naturally.
Saren accepts head of royal guard. "Someone needs to keep you two idiots alive," he says. "Might as well be me."
Seraphine continues as ambassador between Fire and Water kingdoms. She's good at it—using her House Lucien connections for good instead of evil. Building bridges. Creating trust.
"Thank you," she tells me privately. "For giving me purpose. For—for letting me be more than my family's mistakes."
"You're not your family," I tell her. "You're YOU. And you're amazing."
Hadrian stays as military captain. Lyris leads the healer corps. Lysander remains chief healer and advisor.
Our found family becomes government. Broken people who survived together. Who built something beautiful from ashes.

Invitations go out.
Edmund confirms immediately—he's bringing a full Earth Kingdom delegation. "I wouldn't miss this for anything, Your Majesty. You've earned every honor."
Thalassa is already here, helping plan. She's staying through the coronation and the birth. Making up for lost time with her granddaughter-to-be.
Even Skyreach sends representatives. The Seer Council wants to rebuild diplomatic relations after their role sheltering Seris. They're sending gifts. Apologies. Promises of cooperation.
Too little too late. But—but it's something.
"All four kingdoms represented," Father says, reviewing the guest list. "United. This is—this is what your mother dreamed. Peace. Alliance. UNITY."
"We're not at peace with Pyrstone yet," I point out.
"No. But we're not actively at war. That's progress." He smiles. "You'll negotiate real peace eventually. I have faith."

Three weeks before the coronation, I stand in front of the mirror while seamstresses adjust my ceremonial robes.
The design honors both parents. Fire-red and water-blue woven together. White accents for my hybrid nature. Gold embroidery showing dragons—Solace and Havoc intertwined.
"You look like a queen," Morgana says.
"I look seven months pregnant and exhausted."
"That too." She grins. "But mostly like a queen."
The crown is being forged—incorporating elements from all four kingdoms. Ruby for Fire. Sapphire for Water. Emerald for Earth. Diamond for Air. Unity made physical.
"I'm terrified," I admit quietly.
"Good." Theron appears behind me in the mirror. "Fear means you understand the responsibility. That you won't take it lightly."
"What if I'm a terrible queen?"
"You won't be." He rests his hands on my shoulders. "You care too much. Fight too hard. Love too fiercely. You'll be EXTRAORDINARY."
"We'll be extraordinary," I correct. "Together. As partners."
"Together," he agrees. "Always."

The night before the coronation, I can't sleep.
I stand on the ramparts—OUR ramparts where we first held hands—and stare at the city. MY city. The kingdom I'm about to rule.
"Nervous?" Father's voice behind me.
"Terrified."
He comes to stand beside me. "I was too. The day I was crowned. Twenty-three years old. Barely trained. Absolutely CERTAIN I'd destroy everything my father built."
"Did you?"
"No." He smiles. "I made mistakes. Gods, so many mistakes. But I also—I also did some good. Built alliances. Protected people. Raised an extraordinary daughter who's about to be an even better ruler than I was."
"I don't know how to do this."
"No one does. Not at first." He puts his arm around me. "You learn. You adapt. You trust your advisors. You make hard choices and live with consequences. You LEAD." He pauses. "And you remember that you're not alone. You have Theron. Morgana. Saren. Me. An entire kingdom of people who believe in you."
"What if Seris comes back? What if the Eclipse reforms? What if—"
"Then you'll handle it." His voice is certain. "Like you've handled everything else. With courage and compassion and impossible strength." He kisses my forehead. "You're ready, Ravenna. You just need to believe it."
I lean against him and stare at the city lights.
"Mom would be proud," I whisper.
"She'd be ECSTATIC." Father's voice is warm. "Watching you lead. Watching you build the world she dreamed of. Watching you become—become everything she hoped." He pauses. "I'm proud too. So incredibly proud."
"Thank you." I squeeze his hand. "For everything. For—for finally being my father. For believing in me. For this."
"Thank you for not giving up on me," he says quietly. "For forgiving me. For—for becoming the woman you are despite my failures."
