The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 786

Ch. 776 / 790 May 05, 2026

As the days passed, Rosalie and Alec’s connection deepened, and with it, Kael’s overprotectiveness grew to almost comical levels. It wasn’t enough that Rosalie and Alec would often walk the pack’s expansive grounds together, Kael found himself shadowing them from a distance, his eyes narrowed with suspicion every time Alec looked at Rosalie.

“Dad, seriously?” Rosalie muttered under her breath when she noticed him once again trailing behind them. “You know you can’t protect me from everything, right?”

Kael didn’t respond, his eyes never leaving Alec. He had promised to let her make her own decisions, but that didn’t mean he had to like it. The mere thought of Alec—someone who wasn’t bound by the same familial ties—growing close to his daughter sent a surge of protectiveness through him, an instinctive reaction that had only intensified since Rosalie’s recovery.

“She’s not a child anymore, Kael,” Bella said one morning as she found Kael watching from the window. “You can’t chase off every wolf who looks at her.”

Kael’s jaw tightened, but Bella could see the concern in his eyes. He was trying, in his own way, to let go. But it wasn’t easy. “I just… I’m not ready for this. Not yet.”

Bella sighed, walking over to him. She placed a hand on his arm, the comforting weight grounding him. “She’s strong, Kael. Stronger than we ever imagined. Let her figure things out. Just like we did.”

Kael didn’t reply, but there was a flicker of understanding in his gaze. He had known for a long time that he couldn’t hold onto Rosalie forever, that she would eventually come into her own. But it didn’t make it any easier.

Meanwhile, Rosalie was wrestling with her own confusion. As the days passed, her bond with Alec grew stronger, though she couldn’t quite pinpoint why. There was something about him that called to her, a connection she couldn’t explain, and it left her feeling conflicted. Was it her hybrid nature awakening? Or was it something more?

One evening, after a training session with Alec, Rosalie found herself sitting by the lake near the packhouse, gazing out at the setting sun. The quiet moment gave her a sense of peace, but it didn’t erase the strange sensation gnawing at her.

“Bella,” she murmured, her voice unsure. “There’s this feeling inside me. It’s like… like something’s pulling me toward something or someone. And I don’t know what it means.”

Bella sat beside her daughter, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “It’s normal for hybrids to feel conflicted emotions as they grow into their powers,” she said, her voice calm and reassuring. “You’re learning to control abilities that are a part of both wolf and human nature. It’s natural to feel torn. And relationships, especially with someone like Alec, can be… confusing.”

Rosalie nodded, though the unease didn’t fade. Bella had a point, but it didn’t help her make sense of the pull she felt. The connection she had with Alec wasn’t just physical—it felt deeper, as if something within her was attuned to him in a way she couldn’t fully understand. Was it love? Or was it something else?

That night, as Rosalie lay in bed, her medallion—the one she’d worn since she was a child—began to glow faintly, its light flickering like a distant star. She frowned and reached for it, the cool metal comforting in her hands. As she held it, a whisper brushed against her ears, so soft she thought it might be a trick of the wind.

“You belong to me.”

The voice was chilling, sending a shiver down her spine. Rosalie’s breath hitched, and she glanced around the room, half-expecting someone to be there. But the room was empty. She could still feel the echo of the voice, as though it had reached into her very soul. She tightened her grip on the medallion, feeling its power hum under her fingers.

The whisper didn’t make sense. Who was it? And why did it feel so familiar? She tried to push the thought away, but the sensation lingered. For a moment, she was paralyzed, her mind racing through a thousand questions she had no answers to.

She slid out of bed quietly and made her way to the small study in the corner of the packhouse. The room was dark, save for the light of a single candle. She set the medallion down on the desk, staring at it for a long moment. There had to be some explanation for what was happening, but she had no idea where to start.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door.

“Rosalie?” It was Kael’s voice, muffled through the wood. “Is everything okay?”

She swallowed, quickly wiping her eyes and walking toward the door. When she opened it, she found him standing there, concern written all over his face. His gaze flickered to the medallion on the desk, and he frowned.

“Is something wrong?”

Rosalie hesitated, the weight of the moment pressing down on her. She wanted to tell him, to ask if he’d ever felt the way she did, but the words wouldn’t come. Instead, she shook her head.

“I’m fine, Dad. Just… thinking.”

Kael studied her for a long moment, his protective instincts flaring. But he only nodded, sensing that she wasn’t ready to share whatever it was that troubled her.

“Alright. If you need anything, I’m right next door.”
