The bodyguards sent by Jackson were not allowed inside so they sat down outside the ward and waited for Steffanie as they had to escort her back to the villa.
"Callie, Hudson you must be wondering why did I speak about it now?" Steffanie said softly.
"Yes Aunt, why did you wait for such a long time to tell us about something so crucial related to our lives." Hudson said harshly. Although he tried to keep a check on his emotion he was unable to do so.
"I am sorry Hudson, even I was in a dilemma but today when I was studying your mother's case again after you told me the conversation you had with your father. I realized that he was telling the truth. Leo did love your mother Hudson but that incident happened all of a sudden and he was drugged."
"But I don't understand, why would anyone try to kill my mother ? Hudson asked. He was shocked when his aunt broke the news to him.
"Even I don't know Hudson but just before your mother's death, your mother had gone on a short trip for a day with Emily and had left you with your father and had requested me to take care of you while she was gone. I remember I had gone to stay overnight with you and your father and after your mother returned the next day I had also returned to the city as I never liked staying at the lakeside Villa for a long time.
Your mother returned and after a few days, Emily was murdered. And after a week the accident happened with your mother. Right then all we could think was that your father cheated on your mother and she met with an accident but the truth was something else Hudson.
After all these years when you told me about the conversation you had with your father, I was in confusion and thought about the time when your mother was happily married to your father. He would never cheat on her because there was a time when." She paused and looked at Hudson hesitantly.
"When?" Hudson repeated.
"Wanda your aunt had a stupid crush on your father and she tried to seduce him into going to bed with her but your father kicked her out of the house and told her never to return to the villa. Don't judge her for this Hudson, she was young and naïve but later she relented and went abroad for her studies. And got married to your late uncle, who died, way too early and left her a widow, the only thing she has done was focus on her work and career after that.
So after you told me about it I sent my men to check on the hotel records about what had happened that day. The manager who was in charge that time had retired. So I specifically drove to his hometown in New Castle and confronted him and what he told me was shocking.
He said that your father had a conference that day and after it was over. He had gone to his suite to rest as he had to travel back to Seattle early in the morning.
That was the last he had seen him that evening but in the middle of the night he had seen a woman coming out of the room and was shocked as Leo had stayed in that hotel many times but was never accompanied by any woman. So after the women left he went inside the room to check on him and saw your dad deep in sleep. But he had his clothes on which was strange as he had gone to his suite quite early and would have gotten an ample lot of time to change. So he panicked and checked his pulse and after confirming that he was alright. He had called the doctor to check him once as he wanted to be sure that the women who had gone out of the room had not drugged him.
And true to his judgment. He was drugged and so he had fallen into a deep sleep, the doctor had given him a sedative and told them that he would be alright in the morning.
He had kept the things to himself all these years fearing the bad reputation of the hotel and he also told me that later on he came to know that the woman was a high-profile escort. Which scared him more so he never bothered to inform the authorities as anyways the next morning your father was looking just fine when he left the hotel."
Hudson banged his hand on the table.
I held his hand and tried to calm him down.
"I was wrong about him Callie, I treated him so badly. I am not a good son." Hudson whispered with agony in his voice."
Callie held him more tightly trying to comfort him.
"Hudson, it's not your fault that the misunderstanding happen as it was pre-planned and whoever was the mastermind knew what they were doing. I don't know but somehow I think there is more to your mother's accident than it looked at at that time. And when I confirmed my doubts I wanted to tell you about it immediately as I don't want to lose both of you. There is a ruthless killer out there who will stop for nothing."
"Did the manager give the escort's name?" Hudson asked calmly.
"Yes, it's Erin Blossoms. I have heard about her, she was quite famous back then and still is with her age-old customer. She has become very famous over these years. I had her investigate and the results were quite interesting. In the list of her clients, I found a name." Then Steffanie looked at
Callie and said. "Jordan Brooke was on the list. Does it ring a bell?"
I looked at her with astonishment as he was the CIA man. Even Hudson recalled the name and was alarmed.
"So you see, it's not that simple, you both need to be extra careful from now on. You cannot trust anyone. I haven't told Jackson about it because he is a heart patient and I don't want to bother him with my family problem. Promise me Hudson you will be careful and alert. I have already lost my elder sister and my cousin is lying on her death bed. I can't afford to lose you." Steffanie said with sadness in her voice.
Hudson went and hugged her aunt and whispered. "Aunt Steff don't worry we will be careful and nothing will happen to us. Now you should go back home and rest. I will take care of everything here."
"Alright," Steffanie said and got up, to go out.
Then she turned and spoke. "Hudson I forgot to tell you, your mother had told me right before her death that her old flame had called her and had begged her to get back to him but she had refused him and told him that she was happily married, but he was bugging her continuously. I do not know the guy's full name but she told me his initials, it was HA. It was a brief affair that she had when she was in her college. I do not know if it is related but I somehow wanted to tell you about it. As after your mother's death I tried to forget everything, so that I could give you a happy childhood with no negativity."
She kissed his forehead and looked at him for some time as if telling him to take care of himself.
Then after a few minutes, she turned and left.
