Macy POV
The room is silent. Nyx's large head rests on my legs while I try to come to terms with what has just happened. Nyx is no longer a part of me, and without her, I feel empty.
"I'm not a werewolf anymore," is the only thing I can manage to say.
Nyx lifts her head and whimpers before her voice echoes in my mind. 'You never were.'
Edward and Winston are bustling around the room, getting dressed. Winston tosses me a T-shirt, and I pull it over my head.
"What does this mean?" I manage to ask. "What am I supposed to do without you?"
'Nothing changes,' Nyx responds. 'I will still be by your side. I am a Fae Warrior. I was born to protect your Family, and that includes you.'
A grateful sigh escapes my lips, and I blink the tears away from my eyes. I should be happy for Nyx. She never deserved to be captive in someone's mind.
"What do we do now?" I ask, staring at my wrists. Raven will surely notice the iron is missing.
'We need to get you to the Immortal Realm,' Nyx replies. 'You are too powerful for this realm. Pain and destruction will follow you.'
"That's not what I want," I protest. "I don't wish to cause problems."
'I know,' Nyx coos. 'But you cannot control the actions of others.'
"Others?" Edward growls.
'The Fae and Lycan won't be the only ones looking for her,' Nyx explains. 'Once word gets out that she is Fae, her power will entice them. They will stop at nothing to use you.'
I hide my head in my hands. "I miss being Crazy Macy. No one cared about me then."
Edward is pacing the floor, wringing his hands together. He is trying to formulate a plan. "The first thing we need to do is to snap Mom out of it. She has to be in there somewhere still."
Winston scoffs loudly, but Edward has a point. If we can snap Raven out of whatever hold the Moon Goddess has on her, she might be willing to help us.
''Let me talk to her," I shout.
Edward, Winston, and Nyx all give me a shocked look. Nyx growls, and Edward shakes his furiously.
"Not after how she has treated you," Winston snaps.
'You will be talking to the Moon Goddess. Not Raven,' Nyx warns me. 'There is nothing she hates more than Fae.'
"She can't hurt me," I respond. "But if you would like to come along, be my guest."
I climb off the bed and leave Edward's room with no protest from them. Nyx is at my side, but the twins have chosen to stay behind. It is probably for the best. I don't know what is going to happen, and I don't want them to have to choose between me and their mother.
Once I am back downstairs, I see Kieran's son, Billy, standing outside the dining room. He is thumbing through his phone. I walk past him, and he clears his throat. "You can't go in there."
I spin to look at him, but he doesn't look up from his phone. "Excuse me?"
"They are talking about you," he mumbles.
"Oh," I hesitate." Oh well."
I push the door open, and everyone looks at me. I stand tall while their eyes assess Nyx and me. Tucking my hair behind my ear, I suppress the gasp when I feel the pointed tip. I glance at myself in the mirror, and I don't recognize the woman staring back, but I don't have time to obsess over that now.
"I want to speak to the Luna Queen," I demand.
Leo and Oliver block their mate from my view, and Kieran pushes Mae behind him. I have never felt more like a monster than I do right now.
"I am the same Macy," I say, trying to put everyone at ease.
"You don't look the same," Oliver whispers. "And why is there a wolf at your side?"
"You all remember Nyx," I say awkwardly.
Mae slides out from behind Kieran and looks at Nyx curiously. She holds out a shaky hand, and Nyx nuzzles against it. Mae smiles weakly, and she starts to sob. "You are free."
Nyx doesn't respond but she doesn't leave Mae's side either. After all, Mae is kind of her daughter in a weird sort of way. I get lost in my thoughts, trying to figure out the genetics of it all, when someone clears their throat loudly.
"I believe the creature wanted to speak to me," Raven says as she gets to her feet.
"Hello, Selene," I sneer.
Raven's face turns into a grimace, and she sits back down, slowly cradling her pregnant belly. "You figured it out."
"I have had a lot of time to think over the past few months," I begin. "Raven was one of my biggest cheerleaders. She would have never turned on me."
"It is cute that you think she cared about you," Selene grumbles.
"You know what I think?" I smirk. "You saw me coming but kept it hidden from all those that could have seen it. You intended on my mother aborting me, and then when she didn't, you had to find another way to get rid of me. The twins weren't always cruel. You made them that way. You pushed a wedge between us, but that didn't work either. You underestimated the power of the mate bond that YOU created."
"Would you get to the point?" She snarls.
"You have lost control," I laugh. "And taking over Raven was the last resort. You need to let her go."
"Or what?" She snaps. "Will you attack me?"
I step back and cover my mouth. "Of course not. Raven is pregnant. I would never hurt an innocent."
"What do you suggest?" She growls.
"Let me go," I beg. "Just let me go."
"And let Roland get away with what he did!" She hisses.
"I am innocent in all of this, just like the twins and Raven. Let us all go," I sigh.
"I will release Raven," she says. "But you are not free to leave this realm. Not until Roland has paid for what he did to my children."
"They will come for me," I tell her.
"Let them," she growls.
Raven's eyes roll back in her head, and a white light burst from her chest. She lets out a loud gasp and clutches her hand to her heart. Her eyes fly open, and tears streak down her cheeks. She lunges for me, and I brace myself. Only, she doesn't attack me. Her arms wrap around my neck, and she whispers apologies into my ear.
I pull away from her, still not sure I trust her. It would be much easier if everyone were forced to tell the truth. "I will go tell the twins you are free," I whisper as I leave the room.
