After settling this matter, Emily stayed with Chris and Diane for a few days.
Occasionally, she would go to the Scott's to help Aaron recover.
Ian looked at the amusement park on TV. He complained to Emily that he and Aaron had never been there. He really wanted to go.
Emily remembered this. Since she was going to take Chris and Diane to the amusement park this weekend, she could bring Aaron and Ian with her.
When Derek returned, Emily told him about this matter and Derek agreed.
Having received a reply, Ian happily ran around the house and took out a lot of clothes to show Derek and Aaron. He was going to wear the most beautiful clothes tomorrow.
The next day, Diane was so excited and woke Emily and Chris up.
"Mommy, get up. We should go early, or there will be a lot of people in the amusement park." Diane pulled Emily's hand.
"Sure, but we have to eat breakfast. Otherwise, you'll feel uncomfortable from starvation." Emily got up and went to the bathroom to wash up.
"Chris, hurry up." Diane went to Chris.
Chris liked to sleep late. "Why do we have to get up so early? If we go there later, others will have gone home. Then we don't need to wait in line."
Diane frowned in annoyance. Chris' words made sense to her. She didn't know if she should go early or later.
"It's better to go early. If we go late, some facilities in the amusement park will be closed, and you can't enjoy yourself as much." Emily was amused.
"Mommy is right!" Diane was no longer hesitant.
"Go and eat your breakfast." Emily pinched Diane's cheeks.
After Chris and Diane finished their breakfast, Emily checked again and made sure that she had brought everything. Then, they were to set off.
At this moment, Emily's phone rang.
She thought, 'Who would call me so early?' Although it was a strange number, Emily still answered the call.
"Emily, this is Derek." Derek's voice sounded.
Emily then remembered that she didn't have Derek's number.
"Derek, what's up?" Emily was puzzled. They agreed to meet at the amusement park yesterday. Did anything happen to him?
"Nothing." Derek sounded a little helpless. "It was Aaron. He was quite resistant to crowded places, so he wanted to call you before leaving."
Derek had promised Aaron that Emily would go, but Aaron insisted on calling Emily before he left.
Derek was helpless. Aaron liked Emily very much. Sometimes, he was unimportant compared to Emily, even if he was Aaron's father.
He rubbed Aaron's hair. He thought, 'It doesn't matter, I just want Aaron's recovery.'
Aaron reached out to take the phone. He held the phone with both hands. He was anxious to hear Emily's voice.
"Aaron? We've agreed to meet at the amusement park. I'm going to set off soon. Can you guys hurry up and go as well?" Emily's gentle voice sounded.
"Alright." Aaron immediately changed his attitude.
Derek finally understood how Ian felt. Because of Aaron's intimacy with Emily, Ian was often jealous, and Derek felt the same now.
Soon, Emily hung up.
"Mommy, hurry up. Let's go," Diane said anxiously. Usually, only Chris would play with her. This time, Aaron and Ian would join them, so she was excited.
"Coming! Let's go." Emily put the things in the car and drove to the amusement park.
They chatted along the way and listened to music, and soon, they arrived at the amusement park.
Before Derek and the boys arrived, Emily found a place to wait for them and sent her location to Derek.
"Mommy, I want to take the merry-go-round twice." Diane stretched out her fingers and emphasized. She was like a chattering bird.
"No problem." Emily caressed Diane's head.
Diane told Emily and Chris about the facilities she wanted to take, and Chris couldn't help but follow suit.
"Emily."
At this moment, someone called out Emily's name.
Emily looked up and saw Ian running in the front with Aaron and Derek walking behind.
Ian and Aaron threw themselves into her arms. Chris glared at them.
Emily noticed how jealous Chris was. She hugged the four children and kissed their cheeks.
The kids laughed happily.
Derek looked at Aaron and Ian's smiles and could not help but beam.
He realized that Aaron was in a better mood every time he was with Emily.
"You guys are so late. We've been waiting for a long time." Chris was a little dissatisfied. He picked up a tissue and handed it to Emily.
Emily took the tissue and smiled. Chris had always been a good caretaker.
"Daddy was late because something happened in the company, but we arrived earlier than the agreed time," Ian spoke up for Derek.
Ian was on Derek's side while Chris defended Emily, so they glared at each other.
At this time, Derek walked in front of Chris. Chris was a little afraid, but he couldn't chicken out in front of Mommy.
Derek picked up Chris and Ian. He said to Chris, "I'm sorry to keep you waiting. I'll buy you ice cream later, okay?"
Chris blushed. He suddenly felt a little shy. Derek's embrace was different from Emily's. He felt more strength. So, this was his father's embrace. Chris thought that this was the first time he felt it although Derek was not his father.
"I'll forgive you, but you need to apologize to Mommy." Chris did not dare to look at Derek.
"Alright," Derek promised Chris. Then, he turned to Ian and said, "Ian, Chris, and Diane have been waiting for us for a long time. If it were you, you would be unhappy, right?"
"Fine, let's make up." Ian extended his hand to Chris.
Chris shook Ian's hand, and the boys became happy again.
Derek hugged them and said to Emily, "I'm sorry, Emily."
"Don't take it to heart, Derek. Chris is just concerned about me," Emily said with a smile.
Chris felt a little disappointed when Derek put down Chris and Ian, but he didn't say anything. He walked over to Emily and held her hand.
Now, Derek held Aaron and Ian's hands, and Emily held Chris and Diane's hands as the six walked into the amusement park.
There were a lot of tourists, and they had to line up to use the entertainment facilities.
Aaron was nervous. He tugged at Emily's clothes all the time.
"Aaron, are you thirsty? Do you want some water?" Emily crouched down.
Aaron nodded.
Emily took out a large bottle of water from her backpack and disposable cups. She got each kid a cup of water.
The kids held the cups, drinking, and Emily wiped the water off the corners of their mouths.
Derek couldn't help fixing his eyes on Emily. For some reason, he also felt thirsty.
"Do you want some water too?" Emily looked at him.
Derek nodded and took the water Emily handed him.
He quickly finished it and said, "I'll go get some ice cream. Please keep an eye on Aaron and Ian."
After that, he walked away. Emily watched him leave and was puzzled. Why did she feel that Derek was flustered?
