“What?” Nelly quickly wiped her eyes and stared at her reflection in the bathroom mirror. She started rubbing her eyes, acting like she was getting something out of there.
“I'm not crying, I just got something in my eye and I'm trying to get it out.” She sniffed. Scarlett stared at her, trying to figure out what the problem was because she was sure she saw her crying.
When she entered the bathroom, Nelly was standing in front of the mirror, bawling her eyes out and she even heard sounds of sniffing. So how could it be that something just went into her eye?
“Are you sure that's the problem? Because I could have sworn that I heard you crying just some moments ago.” Scarlett persisted but Nelly was determined to prove to her that she wasn't in fact crying.
“Don't worry Scarlett, something just went in my eye, that's all there is.” She giggled and quickly wiped the tears off her face before walking to meet Scarlett who was still standing by the door with a mixed expression on her face.
Scarlett knew there was more to it but she decided to let it slide, concluding that Nelly would tell her whenever she was comfortable enough. They went back to their booth together but Ethan had left. They went ahead to finish their assignments, packed up, and left the library.
Scarlett offered to drop Nelly off at her hostel before driving back to her penthouse. As soon as she got home, she took a warm bath to calm her nerves and tried to get some rest but Adrian's thoughts, which she had been trying to suppress throughout that day began to haunt her.
She tried as hard as she could to get rid of his memories but the short time that they were together meant everything to her and watching him walk away from her after giving her the best few weeks of her life, left a hole in her heart. She loved him dearly, she couldn't deny it, and hearing those hurtful words of his repeat in her head was driving her insane.
Unable to hold back anymore, she picked up her phone and called him. The phone rang but Adrian did not pick up. She kept on calling, but it was the same, he never answered.
“Pick up the darn phone, please!” She yelled out in frustration as hot tears threatened to fall from her eyes. She sniffed them back and continued to call him but she only got herself more pissed off. She finally stopped calling him after some time and decided that she would visit him instead.
She hoped that he would be home the next day, which was when she planned to visit him. She dropped her phone and tossed herself into the bed, hugging her pillow and forcing her eyes shut.
The next morning, she woke up early to turn in her assignments via email as the professor demanded. After she had submitted her assignments, she quickly went to take a shower and got into something nice. As usual, she was dressed to kill. She wore a beautiful, black, off-the-shoulder dress which stopped right on her thighs and hugged her beautiful curves, perfectly accentuating them.
Then, she put on a pair of red hot heels with a red purse to match. Her hair was sleeked back in a half bun with the rest of her hair dropping to touch her back. She did light makeup and admired her reflection in the mirror.
She dressed like that for a reason, so that Adrian would not be able to think straight when he set his eyes on her. Maybe then he would listen to her and probably change his mind. She smiled, grabbed her keys, and left the house, driving to the apartment that Adrian took her to the other day.
Scarlett arrived at the apartment building and made her way inside. It was difficult for her to find Adrian's apartment but she remembered the apartment number and went ahead to knock on the door. No one answered but she kept knocking.
One of Adrian's neighbors came out to take out the trash and Scarlett quickly went over to speak to him. He was a middle-aged man who looked like he was in the middle of a life crisis.
“Excuse me, have you seen Adrian? The man that lives here?” She asked politely, pointing at the door. The man looked over her shoulder and then shook his head.
“No one is in there. The resident hasn't been around.” He answered. Scarlett thanked him and he went on his way.
“Where could he be?” She bit her lip and brought out her phone to call him but he didn't answer. She groaned heavily and ended up texting him that she was in front of his apartment. She waited for thirty minutes but there was no response from him.
She got frustrated and left the apartment building, getting into her car with tears threatening to fall from her eyes. She lifted her chin and tried to calm her nerves. Crying would ruin her make-up and she couldn't let that happen because she always had to look her best.
“The club!” She suddenly exclaimed, remembering that Adrian said he usually spends nights there. She became hopeful again and drove off, heading to the club.

“Why are you still here? There's still so much to do. We have barely three hours before this place starts getting filled up. Hurry up with that and get on with the other chores!” Adrian snapped at one of his employees who quickly rushed off. He turned to the next person.
“Leave that and go clean up the VIP section.” He ordered and then let out a sigh, his hand moving to wipe the sweat off his forehead. He had to do all the work since Joey's wife was sick and he had to take care of her.
All of a sudden, the door opened and he turned to look at who had entered only to find Scarlett walking in, looking around like it was her first time there. He couldn't help but get smitten by her intense beauty. He really wished he could grab her and kiss the hell out of her.
“Fuck..” he whispered, staring at her, majestically walking over to him.
“Boss..” one of his workers called out to him but he hushed him and took the napkin from him immediately. He started to clean the glasses one by one, acting like he was a worker and not the boss. His workers all seemed shocked at his action.
“Hi, Adrian.” Scarlett smiled weakly, stopping in front of him. He didn't respond.
“Why have you been ignoring my calls?”
“Don't you understand that it's over between us? Why can't you get that into your head and move on?” He didn't even lift his head but continued to clean the glasses.
“Oh really? You've gotten over me?” She questioned, her lips quivering and the fear of rejection overwhelming her.
“Obviously.” He scoffed, breaking her heart even further.
“Does that mean that you don't care what I decide to do from now on?” She smiled.
“Yes,” came his response.
Scarlett boiled in rage, watching him act nonchalant by cleaning the glasses and ignoring her.
“Fine then! Since you've decided to ignore me, I'm going to go fuck Ethan tonight!”
