Once Upon a Night With My Stepdad

Ch. 66 / 85 Dec 06, 2025

“Well..” she folded her arms.

“I… I saw the engagement party online and I got the address of the house.” She replied and put on a stern face again, staring at both women who were obviously furious with her.

“What are you two yelling at me for? This is my boyfriend's house and I'm here to stay!” She said and Vivian couldn't help but chuckle, amazed at the guts that Isabella had. Adrian had not said a word, he watched the three women get on each other's necks with no clue how to stop it.

“Your boyfriend doesn't have a dime in this house! This is my house and I want you to get your dirty self out of here!” Vivian fired, her eyes becoming darker.

Isabella seemed to be shocked and turned to Adrian, expecting him to say something but he was quiet and even had his neck bent. She furrowed her brows in confusion, wondering what was going on. She had originally thought that the house belonged to Adrian but hearing Vivian say what she had just said got her confused.

“Adrian? What is she saying? Is this not your house? Your house back in..” Adrian cleared his throat, disrupting her and stopping her from finishing her statement because he would only be getting himself into trouble if he let her speak.

“There's really no need for all of this. If you ladies would just let me clear things up.” He spoke up.

“No!!” The three of them yelled in unison, causing him to flinch.

“There's nothing to hear or listen to, get this dirty bitch out of my house!” Vivian thundered.

Scarlett came closer and took Isabella's luggage, taking it to the door and opening the door.

“You heard my mother, get the fuck out!” She ended her statement with a short smile but she was obviously displeased.

Isabella stormed out in anger and Adrian quickly followed her out to the parking lot. She grabbed her luggage and headed out of the compound but Adrian held her by the wrist, restricting her movement.

“Let me go, Adrian! Let go of me!” She groaned, trying to wriggle out of his grip but he held her tightly, begging her to listen to him first.

“What exactly do you want me to listen to? You couldn't defend me in front of that woman and her daughter and you're here begging me?” She fired but he sighed.

“This is all your fault. Why did you come here? Did I call you to come?” He asked but she scoffed.

“You forgot about me Adrian, you never called after you left the city. What was I supposed to do? I waited for so long for your call but it never came.” She sniffed.

“What exactly was I supposed to call you for? Why do you keep your hopes up when you know that there's no chance for us to be together anymore?” He asked with a raised eyebrow and her lips quivered.

“We were such a perfect couple Adrian, do you really want to throw all of that away? And for what? That old bitch?” She squeezed her face in outright disgust. Adrian scoffed.

“There's nothing between us anymore Isabella, I wish you had just understood that and avoided coming here, you're going to ruin everything.”

“Ruin what?”

“Never mind that. You're going back home first thing in the morning and I'm not taking no for an answer.” He passed his fingers through his hair, letting out a sigh while she stared at him, her eyes glistening with tears.

“But Adrian..”

“No, no, I will not listen to anything you say. You're going back and that's final. You can spend the night in one of my apartments and I'll drive you to the airport tomorrow.” He told her and took her bag to his car. They got into the car and drove all the way to the apartment where he once took Scarlett.

Isabella fumed within her, she promised herself that she wouldn't leave until she managed to get Adrian all to herself.

Adrian left the apartment for the art gallery that evening and he met Joey arranging some new pieces of artwork that came in. He decided to help so that they could talk while doing it. They were the only ones left in the gallery by that time.

“You don't need to do that. I can take care of everything well on my own.” Joey told him but Adrian insisted on helping.

“What's up? You look worried. Is anything the matter?” He asked and Adrian sighed.

“My ex.”

“You have an ex?” Joey's eyebrows raised.

“Of course I do. Why are you sounding like I'm not human huh? I have an ex and she's back, she's here to torment me.”

Joey couldn't help but laugh. Adrian glared at him and he stopped laughing but maintained the grin on his face.

“What exactly do you mean when you say to torment your life?”

“Well, you know Scarlett and I have a thing, there's no need to hide it from you.” Joey nodded to that statement.

“But with the return of my ex, Scarlett is very upset. My ex and I dated way before I decided to come here and carry out my plans but we broke up after she repeatedly cheated on me. I didn't want to end up like my mother in an unfaithful relationship. But my ex has made Scarlett believe that we are still dating!” Adrian explained, letting out a deep sigh.

“You know what I think? I think you should just tell Scarlett the truth. Tell her everything you've ever hidden from her, it's better than when she finds it out from somewhere else.” Joey offered his honest advice but Adrian remained silent.

He really wished he could tell Scarlett the truth but he couldn't bear to lose her. Things were just getting more and more complicated, he didn't know how to tell Vivian that he didn't want to marry her anymore. That one was a big deal on its own.

He just sighed and thanked Joey. They finished up and left the gallery together. Adrian went back to the apartment to check on Isabella but he found her sleeping peacefully in the bedroom and went to sit in the living room.

He decided that he was going to sleep there that night and take Isabella to the airport the following morning. Unexpectedly, someone knocked on his door which was strange because no one knew he lived there. There was only one person he had brought there and he wondered if she was the one.

Scarlett was standing outside when Adrian opened the door. He was surprised to see her and instead of inviting her in, he shut the door, deciding to talk to her outside. He didn't want her to know that Isabella was inside.

Unknown to Adrian, Isabella wasn't asleep and heard the doorbell ring. She was by the door trying to listen to Adrian and Scarlett's conversation.

“Why won't you let me in?” Scarlett questioned. She found it a bit strange that Adrian would keep her outside.

“It's messy there.” He waved it off.

“Well, I don't care. I just wanted to talk to you about calling off the wedding. I don't know who that girl is and I hope you have nothing to do with her, but you will not sleep with me and abandon me. So you have to call off the wedding and make sure you get rid of that girl.” Her face depicted unpleasantness as she talked about Isabella.

Adrian was about to speak when they both had the shuffling of feet from inside. Scarlett realized that Isabella was actually inside the apartment. She flashed Adrian a ferocious glare, understanding that Isabella was still in there. This enraged her and she wondered what she was still doing there.

“You're such a dick.” She sniffed and hurried away in tears. Adrian's face flushed with fear at the thought of losing her.
