A week had passed and Vivian was still not home from her so-called trip. Although, she had called Scarlett to inform her that she would be back the following day. The maids arrived to clean up the place because Vivian did not like to see even a speck of dust.
Adrian and Scarlett were in her room, binge-watching one of Scarlett's favorite shows and having snacks. Adrian did not even like the movie, but he decided to watch it because she loved it. He didn't even concentrate on most parts of the movie, because he was far too busy thinking about how he was going to end his marriage plans with Vivian when she got back.
He was no longer aiming for revenge, so getting married to her was just a big waste of time. He was afraid of what the outcome of his decision would be. What reason would he give Vivian for breaking things off? What would be everyone's reaction when they find out that she left a mother for her daughter?
The facts were disturbing and difficult to face, he didn't know where to begin. He really wanted to be happy, but the road to achieving that was filled with bigger hurdles than he actually thought.
“You're not even watching the movie!” Scarlett, who was lying on his lap suddenly sprang up, her face all scrunched up due to the frustration of having to force Adrian to focus on the movie.
“I am.” He stared at the screen as if he had been watching it the whole time.
“Liar! Then who did Fergus just discover was his father?” She quizzed him, crossing her hands over her breasts and waiting for him to embarrass himself. Her eyebrows raised as he struggled to speak.
“I thought Edison was his father.” Adrian bit his lip but a pillow smashed into his face before he got the opportunity to say any other thing. Scarlett hit him with the pillow a couple of times more before he grabbed her wrists and pinned her to the bed, their faces almost touching as he was above her.
“If you don't like the movie, I can change it,” Scarlett whispered, staring into his eyes and breathing heavily. He shook his head slowly.
“No, I love it. Let's finish it and I promise I'll pay attention this time.” He kissed her forehead and she smiled.
As Adrian stared down at her, he couldn't help but imagine what would happen if he actually told her the truth about himself. He wanted to, he opened his mouth to speak but closed it again. His fear of losing her was the only drive he needed to keep quiet at that time.
He decided not to tell her, at least not yet. He got off her and they continued to watch the movie.
Scarlett got a phone call in the middle of the movie and she had to pause to take the call. It was from Ethan and told Scarlett that he would be coming to stay there for a day.
“A whole day? Why?” She questioned, her free hand was busy massaging Adrian's head.
“I just wanted to check on you Scarlett, you know you were sick the last time we saw. Also, did you expect me to leave on the same day? You know the distance.” He defended and she rolled her eyes.
“Fine, I guess you can stay.” She reluctantly agreed and hung up. They continued to watch the entire series until they both fell asleep in front of the television.
The following morning, Scarlett sent all the maids home because she wanted to be alone with Adrian while they waited for her mother downstairs. They were sitting in the living room, sharing funny stories and laughing when they heard the doorbell ring twice.
Scarlett immediately became sad, she had been enjoying Adrian's company for the past week and she wasn't ready to share it with her mother. She made him promise to cancel the wedding and Adrian agreed even though he had no idea how to pull it off.
Adrian went to open the door and his eyes almost popped out of their sockets when he saw who was standing in front of him.
The slender, curvy lady stared back at him but with a lot of excitement instead of shock. Her lips slowly parted, revealing her nice set of teeth as the wind generously added flare to the moment by waving her hair around.
Scarlett stared at the lady, wondering who she was. For a moment, she felt jealous, because the lady was very pretty.
“Adrian!” Her tiny voice shrieked, and she threw her arms around Adrian, pulling him into a very tight and intimate hug. This sparked the jealousy in Scarlett and she just entered the kitchen to get water, trying not to let what was going on get to her.
“Isabella?” Adrian called, his face still dazzled.
“What are you doing here?” He was trying to whisper, probably because he didn't want Scarlett to hear but she was standing behind them, waiting to know who the lady was.
“What do you mean Ady? Did you not miss me? You've been gone for so long, I just couldn't help but come to get you myself! My love, I've come to be with you.” Isabella smiled broadly.
Scarlett gasped, quite audibly and Adrian turned. She glared at him before running up the stairs. Adrian followed her without a second thought, leaving Isabella who invited herself into the house.
Upstairs, Scarlett had locked Adrian out of her room and despite how much he knocked, she didn't open the door. She was far too disturbed, her thoughts were running all over the place, trying to figure out who Isabella was and what she was doing there.
Could she be Adrian's girlfriend? Or maybe a relative? She thought of all the possibilities and it was driving her nuts. She couldn't bear to share Adrian with her mother, let alone some other hot chick. He was still knocking on her door but she did not respond.
Minutes later, Vivian walked into the quiet house with her luggage and was surprised to see a total stranger sitting in her living room. She took her shades off and stared at the young girl who didn't even bother to acknowledge her presence.
“And you are?” Vivian questioned.
Isabella flipped back her hair proudly, a smirk tugging on her lips. She crossed her legs, relaxing on the couch as if it belonged to her, marveled Vivian.
“I'm Isabella, Adrian's girlfriend.” She answered and Vivian's eyes widened in shock. Did she just hear right?
“Adrian!!” She yelled at the top of her lungs, frustrated and angry.
“My fiance is your boyfriend, you've got to be kidding.” Vivian chuckled but nothing was funny. Isabella threw her a dirty look and then Adrian came running down the stairs. Scarlett came down too, she stood by the stairs, her arms folded as she seethed.
“Who is this girl?” Vivian questioned. Adrian scratched the back of his head, biting his lip and looking for an excuse.
“I have told you who I am already, his girlfriend.”
“Shut the fuck up!” Scarlett yelled from where she was standing.
“I don't even know what you're doing here! If Adrian is your boyfriend like you claim, why didn't you go straight to his house? What are you doing here!?”
There was an obvious fear as Isabella lowered her head, her eyes roaming the room.
