Adrian, Scarlett, and Isabella all snapped their heads towards Vivian, each of them shocked to their bones. Their mouths hung open as they stared at her in disbelief. Scarlett especially could not bear the shock and shame of finding out that her mother knew all along about her illegitimate affair with her soon to be stepfather.
She wasn't as shameless as her mother, she feels remorse for her actions unlike her mother who wouldn't give a flying fuck about sleeping with any man. A tear dropped from her eyes as she waited impatiently along with Adrian for what her mother was going to say next.
“You know? H—how?” Adrian stuttered, equally feeling ashamed.
“I have been observing you two for a while now and I started to notice a few things.” Vivian kept a straight face, walking over to sit on her favorite sofa. Everyone's eyes followed every one of her movements. Isabella was standing with her arms folded, trying to understand what was going on.
“On our engagement night for example… I saw the way you kept staring upstairs, waiting for her.” She stared straight at Adrian who gulped.
She turned to Scarlett, who was still standing by the staircase, her hand clinging to the railing like her life depended on it.
“I am not void of emotions Scarlett, I saw how upset you were when I announced the engagement, and also during the party, you didn't even want to come down. And yes, do you think that I wouldn't find out that you two have been sleeping together since I traveled?” She chuckled slightly.
“You see, I know that you two share a bond, and I've known for a while now so it's nothing new, Isabella.” She glared at Isabella who gulped.
“Mom, I'm.. I'm sorry, I just..” Scarlett bit her lip, she couldn't find words to defend herself with, she felt that she had betrayed her mother, even though her mother was a promiscuous woman.
“Vivian, I really didn't want it to get to this point. I was going to sort everything out but..” Adrian also paused, not knowing what to say. Vivian got up and went to stand next to Scarlett whose breath clenched. Vivian placed her hand on Scarlett's shoulder and she jolted in fear.
To everyone's surprise, Vivian smiled and went ahead to embrace Scarlett.
“I know I have not been the best mother to you Scarlett. I haven't even been a good mother.” She gently brushed her cheek.
“But I am not heartless and I do want my daughter to be happy. I haven't done many things to make you happy my dear..” Vivian paused, lovingly caressing Scarlett while Adrian watched in awe.
“But I want to do this now. If you're really happy with Adrian, then I want you to have him. I see how happy he makes you, none of that went unnoticed. If you both make each other happy, then I think you should be together.”
“Really Mom?” Scarlett's lips quivered.
“Yes, my dear. Even if this is the only good thing I do for you.” Vivian answered and Scarlett fell into her arms immediately, sobbing and thanking her for coming through for her. She was really scared, but now, she feels reassured.
“Thank you so much, mom.” She cried, her eyes meeting with Adrian's who smiled at her.
“Ugh!!” Isabella suddenly exclaimed, took her bag, and stormed out of the house. This wasn't what she was expecting, she wanted Vivian to put an end to Adrian and Scarlett's relationship because it would be easier to steal Adrian back since he didn't love Vivian. But nothing worked out the way she expected and it was driving her insane.
Inside the mansion, Vivian dried Scarlet's tears after they broke the hug. She turned to Adrian and slowly took her engagement ring off.
“I'm calling off the engagement and our marriage plans.” She dropped the ring on the glass center table.
“Really?” Adrian was excited.
“Yes, really. I should have done it a lot sooner, things shouldn't have gotten to this point.” Vivian sighed.
“I hope you two find happiness together. Good luck.” She smiled at both of them and slowly made her way upstairs.
As soon as Vivian left, Scarlett ran to Adrian, jumping into his arms and embracing him tightly. He chuckled and hugged her back, rubbing her back and telling her that everything was fine now.
She broke away from the hug, and momentarily stared at him with a big smile on her face before crashing her lips on his. He returned the intimate kiss, sneaking his arm around her waist and pulling her in. She held the back of his head firmly, deepening the kiss.
“We can finally be together.” She said breathlessly, breaking the kiss. He raised his hand to her face, gently caressing it.
“Of course, I'm excited.” He kissed her forehead.
“But you have to get rid of that whore.. it's obvious that she's a homewrecker and I don't want her anywhere near you.” She warned and he nodded.
“I promise, I will make sure she doesn't disturb us anymore.”
“Alright then,” she smiled. “Let's head up to the room.” She winked at him and he lifted her bridal style, carrying her upstairs while she giggled happily.

Later that day, Scarlett decided to visit the mall after Adrian left. She wanted to get some skincare products since she had already run out. She drove herself there and went straight to the skincare section, picking out her favorite brands.
She finished her shopping and was heading out when she sighted Isabella coming from the opposite side. Isabella saw her too, and a dirty grin appeared on her face as she came closer.
Scarlett didn't want to stop, she had no business with Isabella and wanted to just continue her journey to checkout but Isabella had other plans as she stood in front of her.
“Hi Scarlett, topping up your skincare?” She questioned, her voice unnaturally high pitched.
“What do you want?” Scarlett rolled her eyes tiredly. She was still feeling sick and just wanted to get home and get some rest.
“To tell you to stay away from my boyfriend.” Isabella glared at her, her voice changing to normal.
“Adrian is mine, my boyfriend, he has always been mine. I don't know what made you think that you can come out of nowhere and claim him.” Isabella continued. Scarlett refused to say a word but just watched her embarrass herself.
“What? You won't talk now? Why would you? You have nothing to say because you know I'm right. Don't think that because I failed this once in separating you two, that I won't succeed next time.”
“Isabella? Kindly get out of my way so I can get on with what I was doing.” Scarlett simply stated and Isabella scoffed, refusing to get out of the way. She pushed her stroller against Scarlett's and Scarlett's eyes darkened.
“You don't know who you're dealing with Isabella.”
“I don't care who you are. But know this, it's only a matter of time before I get you out of my way.” Isabella grinned.
