Million Dollar Bride

Chapter 41: Painful choice

Ch. 41 / 164 Sep 17, 2024

"What are you looking for?" A voice rang out.

Ella was startled, taken aback. "Raymon, why are you here?"

"This is my house."

"What? So, I was at your house, but why?" Ella sat up, reaching out to pat her forehead.

"Yesterday, you drank too much. If I drive you back to Anthony's villa in a drunken state, it will make their family members scold. Because I know, Anthony's family is a well-ordered family. I don't know your house again. So I had to drive you to my house." Raymon explained everything to her.

Ella looked down at her body, she was still wearing her old clothes from yesterday. Ella hesitated, she wanted to say something.

Raymon seemed to understand what she meant. "I won't take advantage of you while you're drunk."

Ella dodged, asking another question. "What time is it?"

"Ten o'clock." Raymon looked at his watch and replied.

"Why didn't you wake me up?"

"I saw you sleeping well, so I didn't dare wake you up. Do you have breakfast?"

"No, I need to go home now." Ella took her bag and walked out of Raymon's house.

Raymon didn't hold her back. He looked at Ella and then at the breakfast on the table, whispering in his heart. 'One day you'll be mine."

Back at Anthony's mansion, Ella tiptoed up the stairs. Opening the bedroom door, she did not see David. Why didn't he come back last night? She thinks and feels sad.

A few days later, David did not mention his stay in Maria's house and they still live together as other couples. Nor did he ask her anything.

Today, while Ella was playing with Oliver, her phone rang. She looked at the caller's name, David, and hurriedly answered the call. "Hello?"

"There is a charity party tonight, please join me."

"Yes."

"Your outfit will be delivered to you in a few minutes. I'm pretty busy so I can't come home to pick you up. At eight o'clock in the evening, the company car will pick you up." David advised her.

"Yes," Ella replied and hung up the call.

Ten minutes later, the costumes were delivered to the mansion. She walked out the door to receive the goods and then went to her room, changed, and put on makeup.

She wore a feathery white outfit on her body, exalting her curves, her long, straight, white, flawless legs.

She had her hair up in a high bun, a few strands of hair falling, floating over her cheeks, adorning her beautiful face, her skin as white as snow, like an angel. Attractive, natural yet flexible, and looks very lively.

The party is solemn, inviting all the people of the upper class, delicious wine, beautiful scenery, and fine dining, just like a dream.

When Ella got there, she knew that the owner of this party was David. She is his wife so she is also honored to be the host of the party, she can't help but be a little nervous, she stands in a corner and repeats the ritual several times.

Someone spoke loudly. "David's here."

Ella happily walked over, but only took a few steps, when suddenly she stopped, silently looking out the door of the mansion. Besides David was a girl. That's Maria.

She raised her chin slightly, her gaze darting around, like a noble princess.

Her gaze landed on Ella, the corners of her mouth conjuring a cold, provocative smile.

David and Maria appeared together, causing the whole hall to stir. People around were talking.

"Isn't he married already? Why go with Maria?"

"Rich men often meet a lot of girls."

"Maria is prettier than Ella so he loves her... it's not wrong."

"Or what happened between them?"

The gossip of these people, David didn't care, he was just worried about whether Ella misunderstood or not. Maria kept insisting on going with him so he had no choice but to take her with him to the party.

His gaze fell on Ella in the group, her face pale.

Someone took the initiative to talk to David with a teasing tone. "Did you leave your ex-wife?"

He wanted to clarify his relationship with Maria, but she interrupted him many times.

David didn't want to explain either, he walked quickly in front of Ella. "You're here."

"Yes!" Ella reluctantly smiled. "Having Maria has gone with you, I came seems superfluous."

"Listen to my explanation..."

"Ella, why did you come here?" Maria cut David off, looking apologetic. "Sorry, he didn't tell me you were coming too. So I'm on, right?"

"No, it's me who should go back."

David held her hand. "Ella..."

She was a bit angry. 'If he's already with Maria, why call me over? Infamy.'

The relationship between the three of them became the target of attention.

David recalled the words his mother had said a few days ago. "You should not be a selfish man. You know Maria loves you, but you still break her heart. Even though you don't love Maria, you shouldn't treat her badly either. She fell down the stairs because of you. Please, be responsible."

David feels sorry for Maria. He obeyed his mother. That's why he took Maria to the charity party.

A presenter stepped onto the stage. "Welcome to the host of the party, Mr. David and his girlfriend dance together."

Everyone whispered to each other, silently guessing who he would choose.

David's face was troubled.

Ella was also a little tense, waiting for his answer like she was in her last moments waiting for sentencing.

On the contrary, Maria showed a confident attitude that he would choose her.

A minute later, the host spoke again. "Please Mr. David and his girlfriend danced the first dance of the day!"

He knows girls are waiting for an answer from him.

David closed his eyes, determined to make a decision.

Maria held out her hand.

Knowing this would result, Ella still felt as if she had been struck by lightning. Like suddenly being brutally slapped in the face by someone else, her whole body's strength was drained, it seemed that even standing, she couldn't stand, her face turned white.

Maria glanced at her, like an arrogant peacock, took David's hand, and stepped onto the dance floor with him.

During the entire dance with Maria, David dared not look at Ella, for fear of seeing her disappointed expression. The words spoken at that moment, his heart was like being cut by a knife, suffocating. But he has no other choice. In the past, Maria's family has helped his family's company a lot. Although these are two different things, this time his mother was fierce. He didn't want to be an unfilial son.
