Chapter 59

Ch. 59 / 119 Feb 24, 2026

Raphael POV

At Royal Group.

I was in a meeting.

My phone suddenly vibrated on my desktop.

I glanced at it.

It was Maddox.

Maddox rarely called me. He knew I was more used to reading text messages and emails.

These days, Essel snuck out of the house a lot, which was why Maddox called me so often.

It seemed that today Essel had snuck out of the house again.

I frowned slightly. The conference room fell silent.

I pressed the connect key and said calmly, "What is it?"

"Mr. Lancaster, Ms. Essel snuck out and had a car accident!"

Maddox's voice choked up. "Ms. Essel was in a car accident, lost a lot of blood and needs a blood transfusion, but the blood bank is out of Rh-negative blood. Mr. Lancaster, I..."

I gripped my phone tightly and jerked to my feet.

Was Essel in a car accident?

My daughter...

I screamed inwardly, tears hidden in my eyes.

I pulled open the conference room door and walked out.

The people in the conference room looked at each other. "What's going on?"

I grabbed the papers and walked out of the conference room. Suddenly, a wave of vertigo came over me. I nearly fainted as I held one hand to my forehead and rode the wall with the other.

Laurel rushed over in a hurry. I waved my hand and immediately got into the elevator.

After the dizziness subsided, I slowly said to Maddox, "I'll find a way. Is Essel okay?"

"Ms. Essel is still in the operating room."

I suppressed the sadness and anxiety I felt inside, took a deep breath, and walked quickly to the parking lot.

I got into my car, sat in the driver's seat, and dialed a phone number.

"Do you still have Rh-negative blood there?"

"Mr. Lancaster, there was a sudden chain of car accidents last night, and almost all the Rh-negative blood in the whole of New York was used up. Mr. Lancaster, what do you need Rh-negative blood for?"

"My daughter was in a car accident."

"Essel was in an accident? My God... Wait, I remember... Melany is supposed to be Rh-negative blood! Mr. Lancaster, you need to go to Melany now! She's Essel's mother!"

I frowned slightly, squinted my eyes, stepped on the gas and drove fast towards Eclipse's villa.

Soon, I arrived at the entrance of Eclipse's villa. When the servants saw my car and my gloomy face, they immediately took me into the villa, not daring to say anything.

Melany was lying on the sofa, reading a magazine.

She and her mother were talking when the maid hurriedly walked in.

"Mrs. Chancey, Ms. Chancey, Mr. Lancaster is here..."

Before the maid could finish her sentence, I took a big step in.

Melany hurriedly got up from the sofa, straightened her hair, and rushed over excitedly, pulling me by the arm.

"Raphael! Are you here to see me? Why didn't you tell me in advance? I wasn't even prepared..."

I coldly glanced at Melany, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her out.

"Raphael! What are you doing? Where are you taking me? I haven't changed my shoes yet!"

I grabbed her wrist tightly and didn't really hear what she was saying.

I came back to my senses, threw her in the back of the car, and sped off toward the hospital.

My heart was beating wildly. Could Melany save my daughter?

My vision was blurring with tears.

Damn, why didn't I take care of Essel?

She was such a sweet little girl. I didn't want to lose her.

Melany, perhaps sensing a bad feeling, asked me warily, "Raphael, what's going on?"

I gripped the steering wheel, pursed my lips, and said coldly, "Essel had a car accident."

Melany's eyes opened wide in surprise.

I saw her expression in the rearview mirror of the car and frowned slightly. Her eyes were clearly not the slightest bit sad or upset, but extremely shocked.

Would a mother not feel grief after her daughter's car accident? She didn't even have a tear in her eyes!

Soon, as if she realized my gaze, she immediately panicked and said, "Raphael, you're you're kidding me, right? How could Essel have been in a car accident?"

"Essel snuck out, got hit by a car, and bled a lot."

In a low, slow voice, I said, "All the hospitals in New York ran out of Rh-negative blood, so I had to come to you."

Melany clenched her fists.

"What's the point of you coming to me?"

"The doctor said Rh-negative blood is largely inherited from the mother. You and Essel should have the same blood type."

Melany froze for a long moment, not speaking again, her expression puzzled and scared.

What was she afraid of?

I didn't have time to think, so I stepped on the gas. The car immediately passed the car in front of us.

Five minutes later, we arrived at the hospital entrance.

"I'm not Rh-negative blood!" Melany was pulled out of the car by me and yelled, "Instead of wasting time with me, you should hurry up and contact other people in New York who are Rh-negative blood!"

"I don't believe you."

I parked the car, took Melany's arm, and walked toward the hospital.

Melany's eyes were filled with trepidation and anxiety.

"Let go of me! Raphael, let go!"

Melany struggled desperately.

I turned my head and looked at Melany angrily.

"Essel is your daughter! Don't you care if she's dead or alive? You don't want to save her?"

My eyes were as cold as ice, and I didn't hesitate to pierce the most evil thoughts in her mind.

Melany stared at me and shivered.

She stammered, "Raphael, I'm really not Rh-negative blood! You can't waste any more time on me! I'm going to call my friends and ask them if they know anyone with Rh-negative blood..."

Raphael said slowly, "I've already asked someone to contact them. You're coming with me for a blood test."

"I'm not going!"

Melany screamed.

Melany took the opportunity to shake off my hand and took a few steps back, breathing heavily in panic.

Breathing heavily, she said, "Essel is my daughter! How can I not worry about her? I'm the person who loves her the most in the world! I told you I'm not Rh-negative! Raphael, I had nothing to do with Essel's car accident! Don't take out your anger on me!"

Melany finished yelling hard, and suddenly, there was some regret in her face.

I stared at her without the slightest expression in my eyes.

What was Melany worried about?
