Chapter 64

Ch. 64 / 119 Feb 24, 2026

Araceli POV

Krish said calmly, "So what?"

Essel narrowed her eyes, clenched her fists in annoyance, and bit her lip.

I couldn't hold back my laughter.

Krish had always been introverted and never flaunted his abilities.

It was clear that Krish already thinks of Essel as a friend. But why did he suddenly accept Essel?

I stared at Krish, trying to see something in his expression.

Krish felt my gaze, stood up, and said, "Mommy, I'm going to the bathroom."

I nodded, took out an apple, and gave it to Essel.

All day long, we stayed with Essel in her hospital room.

Krish said he had some business to attend to and left after lunch.

Valeria and I ate dinner before coming home. Krish stayed in his room, looking very focused. I didn't bother him and took Valeria to bed after washing up.

I lay in bed, thinking about Eve, whom I called out numerous times in my head, but never got a response.

I sighed slightly and closed my eyes.

Maybe Eve was waiting for the right opportunity to come back. I shouldn't have rushed her.

...

I arrived at Creaty's office early in the morning. As soon as I turned on my computer, I realized something was wrong.

I purposely encrypted the data yesterday. But now, there were several firewalls on my computer.

What had happened?

I clicked on the website, entered the background, and found a mess of materials and information.

Apparently, a hacker had gotten inside the site yesterday. Someone helped me repel the hacker and gave me a couple of extra firewalls.

I guessed it was Krish.

He was in his room last night tapping away at the keyboard.

I cleared the logs in the background.

Leanna walked in.

"Ms. Chancey, someone from Royal Group just called and asked if you were available at noon."

I frowned.

"What's wrong?"

"They want to come over and talk to you," Leanna said, "I'll get the conference room cleaned up as soon as I can."

The company's first partnership was with Royal Group. Everyone was aware of how important it was.

I nodded my head.

"Print out a few copies of the last revised design and put them on the table in the conference room."

Leanna nodded and immediately walked out.

I flipped through the file and went over the project again.

After I finished reading it, I got up to go to the restroom.

Just as I walked to the entrance, I ran into a group of people walking out of a company next door.

I remembered that it was an Internet start-up company. The company was founded two years ago and was not doing very well, but could barely support the operation.

I had a pretty good impression of the owner of this company, so I smiled, and said hello, "Mr. Bethell."

As soon as Ronan Bethell saw me, his eyes were full of surprise and pleasure.

He stopped in his tracks and said, "Ms. Chancey, hi. Oh, we're going to go downstairs for lunch. Would you like to join us?"

I was about to say no when Ronan's secretary said, "Mr. Bethell, we're going to meet a client. I'm afraid..."

Ronan wanted to say something. The secretary lowered her voice and said, "We had a hard time getting a meeting with Mr. Lancaster's secretary this time. Mr. Bethell, don't forget that Ms. Chancey is our competitor."

The secretary's voice was very low, but I heard a few words, especially "competitor".

I smiled and said calmly, "Mr. Bethell, I have some work to do. Maybe some other time."

I finished, nodded politely, and turned around to prepare to leave.

Ronan's eyes were a little disappointed.

At that moment, the elevator door suddenly opened.

I looked up and faintly stared

It was Raphael.

Leanna heard the sound and walked over quickly.

The moment Leanna saw Raphael, her face flushed, as if she was about to faint.

I frowned slightly, sighed, and turned my head to Raphael politely and said, "Mr. Lancaster, please."

Ronan and his secretary froze, afraid to speak, and could only keep staring at Raphael and me in shock.

Leanna came back to her senses and hurriedly followed me into the conference room.

I smiled, "Mr. Lancaster, please have a seat."

Raphael pulled out a chair and sat down, and Leanna rushed out to pour coffee.

I was surprised, "Mr. Lancaster, why did you have time to come over?"

I thought it was Maddox, or one of Raphael's friends. I never thought he would come alone.

Raphael raised his eyebrows calmly.

"What? Do you want to see Maddox?"

I froze for a second, not saying anything.

What did he mean?

I coughed twice, sat down in my chair, and pushed the document in my hand over.

"Mr. Lancaster, please take a look at this document."

Raphael stared at me and did not take the document.

He said calmly, "I didn't come here today to talk to you about work."

"Then what did you want to talk to me about?"

I asked tentatively, holding my chin up, "Is it about Essel?"

Raphael shook his head.

"Did your company's website get hacked last night?"

My eyes narrowed and I whispered, "Do you know who did it?"

Raphael pursed his lips.

After a moment, he said in a deep voice, "It was my son who attacked your company's website. I will pay full compensation for the damage caused to your company."

My eyes floated with suspicion.

"Micah?"

"Yes."

Raphael's voice trailed off.

Micah was Raphael's oldest son, a child genius, and now the heir to the Royal Group.

That night, Raphael had mentioned Micah to me.

I remembered that Micah seemed to be smarter than Krish.

It seemed that Micah's hacking skills were even better than Krish's... No wonder the light in Krish's room was on almost all night last night.

"Micah may have misunderstood you a bit and that's why he went after your company's website. I apologize to you for him."

Raphael looked at me and said seriously.

I smiled, "The person who hacked my website is your son, right? So why is it you who apologized to me and not your son?"

Raphael heard what I meant beyond words.

He gathered the sharpness in his eyes and said slowly, "Ms. Chancey, I will ask him to come apologize to you himself. But more than that, I want to apologize for my mistake. I will teach my son well."

I looked at him, a little surprised.

For once, I seemed to be reacquainted with this man.

This man, Raphael Lancaster, who had always been so noble and mighty that everyone in New York was afraid to mention him, would apologize to me.

I thought that nothing in this world could make him bow down.

I smiled, "Good. I accept your apology."
