Araceli POV
He waved. Two bodyguards walked over.
Mayra's hands were shaking with fear.
Suddenly, there was a sound behind me.
The car door was pushed open.
Raphael got out of the car, his face looking as cold as ice.
As soon as Ramon saw Raphael, his expression changed instantly.
Lexie was also shocked. I guessed he knew Raphael. He just looked at him without speaking.
At this time, Kenneth also got out of the car. He walked over and pushed his glasses. Behind the lenses were a pair of sharp eyes.
Lexie was startled and hurriedly reached over. "Mr. Easton."
Kenneth said coldly, "Lexie, we haven't seen each other for a long time. Are you Mr. Fleming's defense attorney?"
Lexie nodded his head. "Yes. Mr. Easton, how did you know..."
"Good, I'm Ms. Chancey's defense attorney. If you have any questions about this case, contact me."
Kenneth pulled out a business card from his pocket and handed it over. He looked serious and cold as he spoke, intimidating.
Ramon frowned.
Kenneth smiled and said slowly, "Mr. Fleming, you would like to visit Ms. Chancey's two children, but the law states that parents have visitation rights, but only with the consent of the current custodian. If Ms. Chancey's children were taken by you without her knowledge, then you would be suspected of child abduction. Mr. Fleming, if you want to call the police, you can try."
Ramon was a little scared when he met Kenneth's sharp eyes.
Ramon looked away, snorted coldly, and said, "You bullshit! You think I'm afraid of you?"
Lexie coughed a little awkwardly. He said respectfully, "Mr. Easton, sorry. I'll leave with Mr. Fleming now..."
Ramon looked at Lexie in shock.
Lexie signaled the bodyguards to pull Ramon away. They went across the road as if they were arguing about something. I saw Lexie shake his head, get in her car, and drive off somewhat angrily. Ramon stood in place, cursing.
I smiled and raised an eyebrow.
It was settled so quickly.
Kenneth smiled and said, "Ms. Chancey, Mr. Fleming won't dare come to you and your children again. If he comes back to pester you, you can call me at any time."
I said sincerely, "Mr. Easton, thank you."
"You should thank Raphael. if he hadn't come to ask me, I wouldn't have been able to take on a case like this." Kenneth raised his wrist and glanced at his watch. "I have things to do, so I'll leave now. Ms. Chancey, if you have any questions, you can contact me."
Kenneth walked over to Raphael, patted him on the shoulder, and gave him a meaningful look. "Raphael, I'm taking your car away. You know what I mean. Take your chances."
I looked away with some embarrassment.
Before Raphael could say anything else, Kenneth took the keys and drove off.
Dusk was falling. The last rays of the sun reddened the sky and enveloped the entire city in a warm glow. The glass walls of the skyscrapers reflected the orange afterglow like a burning flame, illuminating the crowds of people hurrying along the streets.
The soft sunlight sprinkled on the turquoise lawn. Leisurely passersby strolled in the shade, enjoying the peace of the breeze.
I stood beside Raphael and whispered, "Mr. Lancaster, thank you."
Raphael tilted his head slightly sideways and looked at me without saying anything.
Under the light of the setting sun, he was surrounded by a golden glow. I looked at him and froze, not looking back for half a day.
Raphael pursed his lips and said, "You've suffered a lot over the years."
I froze again. I just felt my breath quicken and my face was turning red fast.
I suddenly remembered that I had recounted all my painful past clearly in Kenneth's office earlier.
Of course Raphael had heard me, but I didn't think he would ask me.
I said slowly, "Krish and Valeria brought me happiness and joy. Compared to that, the hard work in life is nothing to me."
Raphael's eyes appeared tender.
I coughed twice and said, "Mr. Lancaster, please wait for me here for a moment. I'll go get Krish and Valeria over."
I had just taken a step when footsteps sounded behind me. I turned back and saw Raphael following me.
He had a faint smile on his face.
"I'll go with you."
I didn't say no and walked side by side with him toward the door.
Mayra looked at Raphael and me, froze for a couple of seconds, smiled and said, "Krish, Valeria, your mommy is here."
Mayra walked to the door, holding the children's hands.
I thanked them very sincerely, "Ms. Scott, thank you for everything you did today..."
Mayra shook her head and said reassuringly, "That's what I should do, Ms. Chancey."
After I spoke to Mayra a few more times, I took the kids and got in the car.
Raphael sat in the passenger seat.
I saw Valeria's happy look in the rearview mirror, and suddenly, I thought it would be good for Raphael to stay with us.
I drove the car to the Royal Pack's villa.
Raphael had brought me to meet Kenneth today, so I had to keep my promise to come over and cook dinner for Essel.
I walked into the Royal Pack villa with Krish in my hand, Raphael walking beside me, holding Valeria.
Maddox came out of the house. He was a little surprised to see the four of us. He froze for a moment, smiled and said, "Mr. Krish, Ms. Valeria, we haven't seen each other for a long time."
"Good to see you, Maddox," Krish said.
Maddox touched Krish's face, crouched down in front of Valeria, and said, "Ms. Valeria, I've prepared a lot of your favorite food..."
Valeria's eyes lit up with light.
Maddox picked Valeria up in his arms. To my surprise, Valeria didn't refuse.
I murmured, "Valeria actually didn't reject Maddox."
"Valeria is recovering well," Raphael said, "Maddox heard you were coming over today and was having the servants prepare early in the morning."
I said, "Thank you."
Raphael continued, "Ms. Chancey, I'm the one who should be saying thank you. Essel is a picky eater. I've had Maddox change chefs many times, but Essel didn't like the food they made anyway. I wouldn't have made that request if I hadn't really run out of options."
Raphael explained to me, his tone a little helpless.
I nodded my head. He led me into the kitchen.
