Araceli POV
Ramon fell silent.
After a few minutes, Ramon said, "How?"
I smiled, "Mr. Fleming, because you are the father of the children, I can help you, but I have a condition. If you don't show some sincerity, I won't help you. Anyway, if something happens to the Fleming Group, it will only do me good and not harm."
Ramon's voice trailed off. "What do you want?"
"I want the evidence that Melany set me up five years ago."
My face was cold. "Bring the evidence to me. After that, I will immediately hold a press conference to clarify the matter."
Ramon took a deep breath and said, "It's been five years, so how can I still have evidence?"
I said indifferently, "It's none of my business. If you don't bring me proof, then I'll just have to look on your trouble with indifference. I suddenly want to enter the entertainment industry these days, so the bigger the news, the more I can expand my popularity. Mr. Fleming, if your company collapses, it will be difficult for you to rise again."
In contrast to my relief, Ramon was a bit more exasperated.
I hung up the phone after I said this.
I changed my clothes and went to wake up my two children.
The day was about to begin.
...
I arrived at the office and sat down.
Suddenly, the phone rang.
I glanced at the caller ID, walked to an unoccupied place, and put the phone through.
It was Ramon.
As soon as I picked up the phone, I heard his voice.
Some murmurs came in.
He was playing a recording.
Ramon's voice came through. "Melany, you're the one who sent out this news, right?"
Ramon questioned coldly and aggressively.
"Mr. Fleming, don't be so angry." Melany's laughter came.
"I saw the news online, but I can tell you, Mr. Fleming, it was definitely not me. I'm too busy with my painting exhibition to get involved in what's going on between you and Araceli."
I listened to their conversation with a slight frown.
Melany continued, "Mr. Fleming, it's likely that Araceli got a reporter to expose the story. She must have known that she couldn't have married into the Fleming family, but if she had exposed the matter, your family would have been furious. Perhaps, you will be forced to file for divorce as a result. That way, she can take advantage of the opportunity to marry you..."
I sneered coldly in my heart.
It was ridiculous.
Ramon said coldly, "It's all your fault! Five years ago, if you hadn't approached me, how could I have had a one-night stand with Araceli? It's all because of you!"
"Mr. Fleming," Melany sneered, "it was you who liked Araceli, and my mother went along with it and sent Araceli to your room..."
Ramon said angrily, "I thought Araceli liked me too! I didn't think you and your mother would drug her!"
"Would she have gone to your room if we hadn't drugged her? Mr. Fleming, don't be so proud of yourself for taking advantage of our family." Melany became irritated, "My mother and I went to great lengths to help you! Mr. Fleming, you're actually calling to insult me! What did I do wrong?"
"What kind of drug did you give Araceli back then?"
"A drug that would make her do what you want."
...
I sat in my office, and I listened to the recording and sneered.
I had this evidence, so I wouldn't be afraid of Melany coming back for more trouble.
I backed up the recording, stood up and walked out the door.
My secretary, Leanna, rushed over to me. "Ms. Chancey, where are you going?"
I said calmly, "Nothing. I want to go downstairs to buy something."
"The building is surrounded by reporters," Leanna said after a moment, "Ms. Chancey, you might want to change into cleaning clothes and leave through the back door. Those reporters are very aggressive and most likely won't let you leave easily."
"Take the posters you made two days ago and come downstairs with me," I said, "and have someone bring a table down."
Leanna was startled. "Ms. Chancey..."
"I usually have to invite reporters before I hold a press conference. It's too much of a hassle. Since they're here now, why don't I take advantage of the opportunity?"
I smiled faintly and walked to the elevator with a light heart.
Creaty Company was not a listed group, so negative public opinion did not affect the company much.
I got into the elevator with Leanna and went downstairs.
As soon as the elevator door opened, dozens of reporters frantically poured over.
I walked over without haste and stood behind the desk.
Leanna pulled out a chair. I sat down and said, "Don't be in a hurry. One by one."
I raised my wrist and glanced at my watch.
"I have one hour to talk to you guys."
The dozens of reporters in the room looked at each other.
The reporters hesitated for a second, then immediately raised their microphones and handed them over. The flashbulbs kept lighting up.
"Ms. Chancey, it was reported on the Internet that you have two children. Is this true?"
"Ms. Chancey, is it true that the father of your two children is the chairman of the Fleming Group, Ramon Fleming?"
"Ms. Chancey, have you been contacted by the Fleming family at this time? Are you planning to have your two children back with the Fleming family?"
"Ms. Chancey..."
One after another, the questions came to me.
I picked up a microphone without panic and calmly said, "I said take your time. What's the rush you guys are in?"
I glanced away coldly. Those chattering reporters were instantly silenced, not daring to say another word.
"I do have two children. I admit it."
My voice rang out unhurriedly. "But the father of my two children is not Ramon."
"Ms. Chancey, you're lying! Someone on the internet broke the news that you and Mr. Fleming are fighting for the custody of your two children!"
"That's right! Someone also provided pictures of you and Mr. Fleming arguing! The evidence is overwhelming, so why are you denying it?"
"Ms. Chancey, are you worried about something?"
My eyes fell on the face of the reporter who spoke.
"So what? I told you, the father of my two children is not Ramon Fleming. What do you want me to explain? Who would know better than me who the father of my children is?"
My voice was cold and chilly. "Secondly, I'm not worried about anything."
I raised my arm and pointed at him. "What proof do you have that the father of my children is Ramon? Just based on a photograph? Who knows if your picture is a fake? Did you see the paternity test report?"
I sneered and pointed at the other reporter.
"What about you? Did you see me sleep with Ramon? Stop talking nonsense!"
The reporters was speechless.
"I'll say it again, I have no relationship with Ramon. We are potential partners at best."
I calmly continued, "That photo was Ramon approaching me for cooperation, but I didn't agree on the spot, so Ramon was a little angry. Neither of us thought there would be such a big misunderstanding."
