Chapter 47

Ch. 47 / 119 Feb 24, 2026

Essel POV

After I had a bath, Araceli put me on her bed.

She dressed me in Valeria's dress.

I smelled her scent and felt vaguely at ease.

Suddenly, a phone call came in.

Araceli went out to answer the phone.

After she left, there was a soft thud...

Suddenly, I felt something was wrong.

Krish pushed open the door and walked in. He turned around and closed the door.

I glared at Krish warily. "What are you doing here?"

"Don't you know you have to dry your hair after a shower?" Krish said coldly, taking a towel out.

Krish continued, "Do you know how to dry your hair?"

I looked at my hair that was dripping and pursed my lips.

When I was at home, I had at least two maids to help me bathe, so all I had to do was lie in the tub. After a bath, they would dress me, blow dry my hair and apply baby cream to my skin.

But, I saw Krish's disdainful look at this point and had to pretend I knew how to dry my hair.

Krish tossed me the towel. I caught it and put it on my head with some confusion.

Krish said, "Are you sure you know how to dry your hair?"

I blushed slightly, but said stubbornly, "Of course!"

Krish glanced at me, "If you keep your hair wet, you'll catch a cold. Of course, it's none of my business."

I couldn't take it anymore and said angrily, "You're so mean!"

Krish said coldly, "You're five years old, and you still don't know how to bathe yourself and dry your hair! Are you sure you want to blame this on me?"

I froze slightly.

At the moment, Krish's look like this was similar to Raphael's usual look when he was angry.

There was a hint of coldness in his sneer on his face.

I had always been afraid of nothing!

My face was red with anger.

I came here to find Araceli, not to be mocked by this little kid!

I'd never been treated meanly in all my life!

I got up from bed, climbed out of it, and ran to the door.

Krish stopped me and stood in front of me. "Promise me one thing, and I'll let you out."

I was so angry that I wanted to fight him.

But, my hair was wet. I was now feeling a little uncomfortable.

I gritted my teeth and said, "Ms. Chancey is the most gentle woman I've ever met! I can't believe you're her child! You're so mean!"

I admitted that I wanted to provoke him and make him angry!

But, instead of getting angry, Krish laughed.

Krish stopped laughing, propped his hand against the door, and said, word for word, "If you ever pester me mommy again, I will throw you out the window."

His voice was cold, like an icicle, piercing into my heart.

I felt as if 1 million ants were crawling around in my heart, giving me the creeps.

Krish really looks like Daddy!

I couldn't control the fear in my heart anymore, broke down and cried out.

"Ms. Chancey!"

He rapped on the door hard and cried super loud.

Krish narrowed his eyes and pushed down the coldness under his eyes.

"Raphael is the most powerful man in New York. I thought that man's children were powerful too. Turns out you're just a girl who can't do anything."

The sound of hurried footsteps came.

I knew it was Araceli coming back!

I instantly saw hope and screamed louder, "Ms. Chancey! Help me!"

The door was suddenly opened.

"What's wrong?"

I pulled the door open with force and flung myself into Araceli's arms with a tear-stained face, choking back a sob, "Araceli, Krish said he was going to throw me out the window!"

I smelled the scent of Araceli's body and felt so comfortable. Even though my hair was wet, she picked me up.

That meant she liked me, right?

Krish frowned. "You heard wrong."

Krish finished and headed outside.

"No! I didn't lie!" I cried out and said, "Ms. Chancey, he locked the door and threatened not to let me come back to you! He said he would throw me out the window! Every word I said was true!"

I cried so hard that I started hiccuping.

I looked at Krish and felt that I won this one.

This was how I pestered Daddy at home. Whenever I cried, he could do nothing but coax me.

Araceli looked at Krish suspiciously, "Honey, what's going on?"

Krish said calmly, "Mommy, I brought her a fresh towel to dry her hair. I couldn't even reach the window in your room, so how could I have thrown her out? Besides, I didn't have the strength to pick her up."

Araceli nodded, sighed slightly, and said, "Okay. But baby, you should help Essel dry her hair anyway."

Krish had tears in his eyes, clenched his fists slightly, and bowed his head, not looking at Araceli.

I suddenly realized that I seemed to mess things up.

It was because of me that Krish was being blamed by Araceli...

Just as I was about to explain, Krish pursed his lips, bowed his head, and admitted his mistake, "I'm sorry, Mommy."

"Krish, go downstairs and read Valeria a story. I'll dry Essel's hair."

Araceli hugged me and went into the room, shutting the door behind her.

Before closing the door, I hugged Araceli's neck and saw Krish stare at the door for a moment, turn around and go downstairs.
