Freya's POV
I stepped out of the hospital, feeling disoriented.
"Freya, are you okay?" Novia asked with concern.
I turned my head to meet her concerned gaze.
I managed a forced smile, saying, "I'm fine, luckily I caught it early, right?"
Novia nodded, her eyes red.
"There, it's going to be okay. Don't worry, everything will be fine," I comforted Novia while trying to uplift myself.
"So, what are you going to do now, Freya?"
"Well, for now, I want to go back, take a shower, and get a good night's sleep. After all, it's better to refresh yourself before you start fighting back, isn't it?" I shrugged and looked at Novia with a smile.
Novia nodded, "I'll take you home first then."
Once I got home, I didn't turn on the lights. I simply sat on the couch and let the darkness envelop me.
With my eyes closed, countless images of my past with Kingsley played in my head. I exhaled deeply.
Then, I opened my eyes, grabbed my keys, and headed out the door.
I drove aimlessly through the city, wanting to get away from it all but not knowing where to go.
After what felt like an eternity, I parked the car in front of a bar. Entering the bar, I took a seat, saying to the bartender, "A Bloody Mary, please."
The loud noises around me unconsciously drew me in, and I found myself indulging one glass after another, venting my bitterness recklessly.
I didn't know if it was the noisy bar, but I started feeling drowsy. The scene in front of me began to blur.
I became acutely aware that something wasn't quite right. I got up to retrieve my cell phone and headed out.
Suddenly, someone bumped into me, causing my phone to fall from my hand. Bending down to pick it up, the shaking in front of me intensified.
A person grabbed my wrist and helped me up, saying, "Miss, you dropped your cell phone."
The man's voice sounded distant, disoriented, and unfamiliar.
I expressed gratitude and reached for my cell phone, but just as I took a step, my legs gave way, and I couldn't stand.
Someone seized me by the waist and pulled me into his arms.
The unfamiliar scent of a Rogue triggered my alarm bells. I struggled to resist, but my arms and legs felt weak. Thus, I could only allow myself to be held in the arms of this Rogue and pulled away.
"It's alright, she's my girlfriend," the Rogue explained with a smile reminiscent of the waitress who had approached.
I wanted to call for help, but suddenly the hand on my shoulder tightened around my neck, and the choking sensation rendered me unable to make a sound.
As soon as the waiter left, the Rogue threw his jacket over my head before attempting to lead me out of the bar.
"Be quiet, girl," said the man with a few suggestive chuckles, "I'll make sure you have a good time tonight."
The special scent of his hand struck me, and though I was fully conscious, I felt weak all over.
At that moment, I was certain that I had been drugged.
To bring myself back to awareness, I bit down on my lower lip forcefully. The mingling pain and taste of blood roused me briefly.
I mustered hidden strength and bit his arm vigorously. The Rogue endured the pain and promptly let go, and I stumbled and fell to the ground. Struggling, I managed to get up and moved forward unsteadily.
"Damn it! You bitch!"
The Rogue grabbed my hair and jerked me back. I fought with all my might, and the disturbance quickly attracted the attention of those nearby.
"Help!" I exclaimed in panic.
Immediately, the Rogue covered my mouth.
Just as despair began to settle in, the man suddenly released me and was thrown aside. The next second, I found myself swept into the arms of another man.
"Who the hell are you?" the man cursed.
Barely hanging onto consciousness, I caught a familiar scent and attempted to pry open my eyes, catching a faint glimpse of Kingsley's face.
Suddenly, my heart sank, and tears streamed down my cheeks.
Kingsley pressed his lips together and gently wiped away the teardrops from the corners of my eyes. Then, he looked at the waiter beside him and instructed, "Please take care of her for me."
"I'm fucking talking to you!" the Rogue continued to shout.
In a swift motion, Kingsley sprang into action, swiftly twisting the man's wrist. "A Rogue? Who gave you the audacity to touch my mate? Get lost now, or I'll sure to bite your neck off!" he shouted.
In an instant, he forced the Rogue's hand behind his back with such intensity that it produced a loud click, prompting the Rogue to release a pained, almost murderous scream. A loud thud ensued as the Rogue was propelled out of the room.
Within moments, Kingsley had me back in his embrace, his familiar scent enveloping me, and I couldn't help but tightly hug him back.
"What took you so long?" I whimpered, my voice as pitiable and defenseless as that of a wolf cub.
The medication's effects were overwhelming, causing wave after wave of heat to wash over me and unintentionally eliciting wolf-like cries from me.
I despised this vulnerability, yet at this very moment, I found myself inexplicably feeling wronged.
Tears continued to stream down my face as I held onto Kingsley, seeking refuge in the safety of his warm arms—the only place I felt secure.
Struggling to open my eyes, I met Kingsley's gaze, now transformed into an amber-platinum hue, shimmering with desire.
Without a word, he scooped me up, my intermittent huffs making their presence known as he carried me into a nearby room.
The door shut behind us.
Gently, Kingsley laid me down on the bed. His warm, penetrating gaze settled on me, drawing me in. Through my hazy vision, I met his gaze.
Gray sweatpants hung low on his hips, his shirtless form revealing the rippling muscles that seemed to beckon my touch.
He approached me at a slow, deliberate pace, then leaned down, resting his head on my shoulder and neck, kissing with a delicate touch.
Within his breath, I sensed a potent energy, accompanied by something more—desire, a confidence that didn't intimidate me.
Despite knowing what his mother had done to me and suspecting his likely involvement, I should have pushed him away.
Yet, I didn't.
At this very moment, all I desired was to caress and kiss him even more, allowing him to explore me in a more assertive manner.
My heart started pounding once again, causing me to momentarily forget my intended actions.
"Alpha," I murmured, my fingers entwined in his hair. Instinctively, I arched my back, granting him better access to my neck for his kisses.
"Do you love me?" I asked slowly, my voice barely a whisper.
Kingsley's movements hesitated briefly.
The next thing I knew, he wasn't responding to my question. Instead, he kissed me more intensely, his actions trying to express what words couldn't.
I struggled to suppress the rising desire fueled by the effects of the drugs, my eyes growing moist from the physical and emotional intensity of the moment.
