I Wanna Ruin Our Friendship

A Monster in a Suit and Tie

Ch. 64 / 162 Apr 09, 2026

The Vanessa I knew—the one who lived to dominate every room she walked into—was crumbling, and it wasn’t subtle. I wanted to feel satisfaction at her unraveling. Vanessa had caused me so much pain, driven me to the brink more times than I cared to admit. But the sight of her like this didn’t feel like justice. It felt like something darker, something colder.

The reason for this, I suspected, lay with Mr. Mitchell.

As much as I hated Vanessa, I couldn’t shake the feeling that she was caught in something far bigger than she realized. She’d always had a knack for manipulating people, for twisting situations to her advantage, but this felt different. Desperate.

The next morning, I spotted Vanessa in the hallway, her usual confidence replaced by something shaky and brittle. Her makeup was uneven, and her hair looked like she’d barely touched it. She was slipping, and everyone could see it.

I didn’t plan on confronting her. It just happened. As she passed me, I couldn’t stop myself. “Vanessa, wait.”

She stopped, her eyes narrowing. “What do you want?”

“I need to know what’s going on with you and Mr. Mitchell,” I said, keeping my voice low.

Her expression hardened instantly. “Nothing’s going on,” she snapped. “Mind your business.”

“It’s not nothing,” I pressed. “I’ve seen the way he looks at you. The way you act around him.”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about,” she hissed.

“Then help me understand,” I said, stepping closer. “Because it doesn’t look right, Vanessa. It looks like he’s—”

“Shut up!” she snapped, her voice breaking. Tears welled in her eyes as she glared at me. “You don’t know anything!”

I stayed quiet, giving her space to speak. Finally, she wiped at her eyes, her bravado crumbling. “He... he said he could help me,” she admitted, her voice trembling. “With school, with my future. He made it sound like he cared.”

My stomach twisted. “Vanessa, he’s your teacher. He’s not supposed to—”

“Don’t you think I know that?” she interrupted, her voice shaking. “But what was I supposed to do? He... he made me feel like I didn’t have a choice.”

Tears streamed down her face as she continued. “He said if I didn’t keep seeing him, he’d make my life hell. That he could ruin everything for me.”

I reached out, hesitating before placing a hand on her arm. “Vanessa, this isn’t your fault. He’s the one doing this to you.”

She pulled away, shaking her head. “You can’t tell anyone,” she whispered. “You have no idea what he’s capable of.”

“Vanessa—”

“Promise me!” she cried, her voice desperate. “Promise you won’t tell.”

I hesitated, my heart breaking for her. “Okay,” I said finally. “I promise.”
