I Wanna Ruin Our Friendship

Vanessa’s Fury, My Fall

Ch. 80 / 162 Apr 09, 2026

The whispers reached Vanessa during the third period. She sat in the middle of the classroom, her head low as she scribbled half-hearted notes in her notebook, but her ears were sharply tuned to the conversation behind her. A cluster of girls in the back corner weren’t even trying to be subtle. Their voices carried just enough to ensure Vanessa could hear every word.

“I’m telling you, Logan’s still hung up on Emma.”

“Didn’t someone see them talking at the bar she works at?”

“I wouldn’t be surprised. Emma’s always been weirdly close to him.”

There was a pause before the laughter began—low and cruel. Vanessa’s knuckles whitened as she gripped the pen, the faint sound of plastic cracking beneath her fingers. She didn’t turn around. She didn’t respond. But the rest of the period passed in a blur. She couldn’t focus on the lecture, the words on the board might as well have been written in another language, and by the time the bell rang, her mind was racing with thoughts she couldn’t suppress.

Vanessa stormed toward me during the lunch break, her heels clicking loudly against the tiled floor. Her face was a mask of fury, her eyes narrowed with a dangerous gleam. I barely had time to brace myself before she was standing in front of me, her voice slicing through the cafeteria noise.

“You ruin everything, you know that?” she spat, loud enough for half the room to hear. Conversations around us screeched to a halt, and all eyes turned toward us.

“Vanessa, what are you—”

“Don’t play dumb, Emma,” she snapped, cutting me off. “Logan. Caleb. You’ve got your claws in both of them, and now you’re standing there pretending like you’re some innocent little victim.”

My stomach twisted. “That’s not true.”

“Oh, please.” Vanessa laughed coldly. “You think people don’t talk? You think I don’t know what’s going on behind my back? You’ve been sneaking around with Logan while stringing Caleb along. Pathetic.”

The whispers started immediately, rippling through the crowd. My chest tightened as the humiliation sank in. I glanced toward the door, wondering if I could make a run for it.

Vanessa stepped closer, her voice lowering but still venomous. “You destroy everything you touch. You’re a walking disaster, Emma.”

Before I could respond, a hand gripped her shoulder. Logan.

“That’s enough,” he said, his voice calm but firm.

She whirled around to face him, her anger doubling. “Of course, you’d defend her,” she sneered. “You’re just as bad as she is. You led me on, Logan. You said you’d be there for me, and now you’re... what? Chasing her? Again?”

“Vanessa, you need to stop,” Logan said, his voice tightening. “This isn’t helping anyone.”

Her face crumbled, her anger giving way to tears. “You don’t get to tell me to stop. You don’t get to abandon me and then act like the good guy.”

Logan’s expression softened, but his tone stayed steady. “You need help, Vanessa. This... this isn’t okay.”

Her lips trembled, but she didn’t say another word. Instead, she shoved past him and disappeared through the double doors. Logan turned back to me, his face etched with regret.

“Are you okay?” he asked quietly.

I couldn’t answer. The weight of the stares and whispers pressed down on me like a vice. Without a word, I grabbed my bag and walked out of the cafeteria, my vision blurry with tears.
