His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 225

Ch. 225 / 264 Apr 07, 2026

Connor contacted Dwayne as soon as Zachary left.

"Dwayne, change all the cooks at home. Your distinguished Luna Annette is not used to their food."

  Connor said through gritted teeth.

Annette turned to him and said with surprise, "When did I say that? Don't make things up, OK?"

  "I see you're happier with William's cooking."

Annette was helpless and thought, 'Men can be so unreasonable when they're jealous.'

"I missed William's cooking, that's all. It has nothing to do with the cooks in the Blood Moon Pack."

Annette hated it the most when someone was implicated because of her. She said unhappily, "Would you please not do that?"

"I'm doing it for your good. Now that you eat food made by someone else while you are in the hospital, it means that the cooks of the Blood Moon Pack fail their job. Then why should I keep them?"

Annette said helplessly, "It's not about William's food. I was hoping Zachary would come over."

Connor was furious when he heard her words.

He thought, 'She's finally speaking her mind.

She doesn't want to bother anyone but Zachary, because she thinks of him as someone close to her.'

Connor stood up and said angrily, "Do you wish I had gone instead of him?"

Annette was so pissed off that she even wanted to grin. She thought, 'Can he be more unreasonable?

  I hope he doesn't forget I haven't forgiven him.'

  "Why aren't you talking?"

Annette glared at him and lay down. "I don't feel like talking to you."

"Annette, I'm telling you, as long as I'm alive, nothing will ever happen between you and him."

  Connor was furious.

Annette sat up and said angrily, "Get out!"

"Why? Are you angry now? Did you ever wonder how I felt when you were chatting with him like that? You didn't even look at me."

Connor stared at her, feeling very aggrieved.

Annette glared at Connor, hoping that he could stop being childish.

"Why can't I have a word with the friend I grew up with when you get to take responsibility for your first love?"

Connor said angrily, "Who says I take responsibility for someone else? Everything I do, I do it for you. It's never about Alina, whether you believe it or not. But you just said you wanted Zachary to keep visiting you!"

Annette took a deep breath and didn't know what to do with him.

"Will you stop being unreasonable? I had William cook for me, so I could get Zachary to come over, and you didn't ask me why I wanted him here. Why are you snapping at me?"

Connor thought, 'She has a purpose for asking Zachary to come over?'

He stubbornly asked, "Why did you want him here then?"

Annette glared at him and said, "Give me your phone."

  Connor handed her the phone.

  She dialed Sara's number.

The phone was picked up quickly, and Sara asked anxiously, "Annette, I saw the news. How are you feeling? Are you OK?"

Annette smiled and said, "Don't worry. I'm fine. I called to ask if you're free tomorrow at noon."

  "Yes. What's the matter?"

Annette tightened her lips and smiled, "Can you come to the hospital tomorrow at noon? There's something I want you to take to school for me."

  "Sure thing."

Hearing that Sara wasn't suspicious at all, Annette couldn't help but say, "You don't have any doubts about my motives at all, do you?"

  "What?"

Annette smiled and said, "Don't eat anything before coming tomorrow. Zachary will be here to bring me lunch."

  Sara immediately got her point.

"Annette," she said sheepishly. "I shouldn't do that. After all, you're in the hospital, not feeling well."

"This way it won't seem so deliberate. Anyway, if you're not busy, it's settled then."

"Alright. Thank you so much. See you tomorrow."

After hanging up the phone, Annette glanced at Connor.

Connor understood something and said, "So, you want to be a matchmaker?"

Annette turned her head and said, "Don't talk to me."

Connor was happy, and he sat down beside her bed, saying, "Why didn't you tell me earlier? I wouldn't have misunderstood."

"What does it matter to me whether you misunderstand or not? I don't want to listen to you. I'm going to sleep now."

She turned over and lay down with her back facing him.

Connor smirked, and he was instantly in a great mood.

Annette was somewhat annoyed. She thought, 'Why did I explain it to him? I should have made him jealous.'

At noon the next day, Sara came to the hospital right after work.

It had been a long time since Sara had seen Annette. After greeting Connor, Sara came to Annette's bedside.

"Alanna and Eden knew I was coming to see you, so they both asked me to say hello. Are you really all right?"

Annette nodded and said, "It's nothing serious. I fell and needed to remain in the hospital for a few days."

"Gosh! You fell? I'm so worried about you. You're pregnant, so please take good care of yourself. You're not alone anymore."

Annette stroked her lower abdomen with her hand and said softly, "Don't worry. I have learned my lesson. I'll be more cautious from now on. By the way, how's everything at school?"

"Well, the winter holiday is coming, and everyone has been busy with this recently. Marcus has handled your class very well."

"I'll thank him properly after I'm discharged."

Suddenly, there was a knock at the ward door.

Annette smiled at Sara and said loudly, "Come in."

Zachary opened the door and came in. He nodded at Sara and then said to Annette, "I see you're having company. Am I interrupting you two?"

Annette warmly smiled and said, "Your timing is perfect, Zachary. This is Sara. You've met before."

Zachary recalled and said uncertainly, "Have we met?"

Sara approached nervously and said, "Mr. Joseph, hello. I helped Annette fetch something from you at the school gate last time."

"Oh, that's right. Yes, we've met once. Hi Sara. It's nice to see you again."

Trying to calm herself, Sara nodded at him and said, "Hello."

Zachary put the lunch boxes on the table.

"William made a lot of food today, and I think it should be enough for you three."

Annette pointed to Connor and said, "He didn't get to enjoy William's cooking yesterday, so he skipped today's breakfast, waiting to share my lunch. I'm afraid the food won't be enough for three."

Zachary and Sara both looked at Connor.

Connor frowned, but he had to cooperate with Annette anyway.

  "I am starving."

Annette was glad, figuring that Connor must be furious.

Zachary thought for a moment and said, "I'll ask William to send some more food over."

Annette waved her hand and said, "It's OK. Don't bother him. Besides, Sara has to go back to school this afternoon. Zachary, why don't you take her out for a bite? I can't think of a better way."

Zachary didn't think much about it and said, "OK, then I'll take Sara out to eat."

Annette smiled, looked at Sara, and said, "If you don't mind, do me a favor and eat with Zachary, OK? After I am discharged, I will invite all of you to have a meal together. How does that sound?"

Sara looked at Zachary and said, "I'm OK with it, Mr. Joseph. How about you? Does it work for you?"

"Yes. Let's go then and leave the place for Connor and Ann so that they can have a quiet lunch."

  Sara nodded.

After Zachary left with Sara, Annette sat on the bed, sniggered, and opened the lunch boxes.

She looked at Connor, who was still sitting on the sofa, and said, "Thanks."

"You're the only one in the world who dares to put me that way."

She turned sideways and looked at Connor seriously, asking, "What do you think if Sara and Zachary become a couple?"

"Sara seems all right, but I don't know about Zachary."

"Why? I think they are a perfect match."
