Bill
The night had deepened. It was way past my routine bed time.
Yet here I was, wide awake, unable to take the maid shifter off my mind.
Sipping the wine from the glass, I found myself smiling, reminiscing that special charm in her. I told that charm the minute my eyes landed on her shining eyes.
Nuu-Chah seldom blessed her female she-wolves with that charm. But once she did, the lucky one would get special ability along with that charm.
Breathing heavily, I tried to calm my wolf down. It had been this excited for long, and finally took control over me.
"I must get her!" Reaching out for my phone, I decided to give Dylan a call, making another offer that he wouldn't be able to say no to in exchange for that charming shifter.
Just as I took up the phone, an unfamiliar number displayed on the screen.
“Hi, is that Alpha Bill?”
“It's me. Who's that calling?” My mind was still preoccupied with the shifter.
"You don't have to know my name. I'm just calling to ask you to get prepared for a big surprise. It's right at your door by now. Just go and get it. Enjoy!”
"Wait..." The other end hung up when a buzz at my door rang.
I went to open the door, only to find the shifter that I had been dreaming about standing there.
“Huh? Did I just ring the wrong buzz?” The shifter murmured in confusion.
I could not help but close my eyes as my wolf got excited again at the sight of her.
"I don't think so, miss." I said to her in amusement.
"But I'm supposed to meet Chelsea here… Is she inside? And who are you by the way?” She bombed me with questions anxiously.
"I'm Bill, Alpha of the Lune Pack. I saw you at the party earlier. And you're...?" I guessed I knew who made the call just now.
"Nice to meet you, Alpha Bill. I'm Cherry. I'm here to..."
"Oh, you're Cherry?! Come on in!” I opened the door wide, inviting her in.
She took a step back, staring at me with vigilance.
“Don't be afraid. I don't bite. I think I can explain why you're here.” I assured her while leading her in, "You want a drink?"
“I didn't come here to drink. I'm here because Chelsea said...”
“And you believed her?” I cut her off with a grin. "Let me tell you why you're here."
Looking into her eyes in bewilderment, I continued. “My wolf got attracted to you earlier at the party. So I offered to buy you from Dylan.”
Pain crossed her brown eyes, and she distanced herself one more step away from me.
“D-Dylan sent me here? He actually sold me?!" Shock and rage mixed on her face.
“Hear me out, Cherry. Dylan didn't accept my offer yet. I think it's Chelsea, your new Luna, who sent you here.”
Cherry felt relieved for a moment, but anger washed her up after a fleeting second.
“Chelsea again! She really won't stop messing with me, even if she already got everything!” She cursed and then calmed a bit as our eyes met .
"You want to take revenge on her?” I asked tentatively, trying to get one more bargaining chip to win her over.
“How did you know?!” She asked in shock, as if her mind had been seen through.
My beta had dug some information about Cherry. A gifted designer. Used to be Dylan's Luna. Had two lovely children. Dylan even opened a designer store for her in Seattle after she came back from Berlin. But she lost all these things after something complicated happened recently.
"How did I know? Hahaha! I'm Bill Consunji. I can find out whatever I want to know. "
"Bill C-Consunji?! Y-You're the legendary, powerful Alpha of Lune Pack?!" She stuttered nervously. "Sorry, Alpha Bill. I didn't give much a thought when you introduced yourself.”
“You heard a thing or two about me, huh?” I smirked at her as my wolf celebrated that Cherry knew me.
“Yes. But why do you want me? I-I'm just a lowly shifter after being stripped of the right as Luna of Starsmoon.”
“Dylan was a fool. It's his loss for not seeing how special you are.”
“Special? Me? You must be wrong.” She gazed up, puzzled at my words.
"I cannot be wrong. Believe me, Cherry. You got special charm in your eyes, and that comes along with special ability."
"I don't understand." She shook her head. "That doesn't mean anything."
"Your wolf has silver, white fur, right?"
I pursued the clue after she nodded.
“Nuu-Chah only blesses one or two silver white she-wolves with that special charm and ability in a century. And they're destined to make a great Luna. With such a Luna his side, an Alpha is invincible. Dylan could have been invincible.”
I sipped on my wine while Cherry looked at me in disbelief. “It seems neither Dylan nor anyone in your pack know that.”
“That's why you want me?” She asked after a long silence.
“Smart! You know I'm a man of ambition and greed. With you as my Luna, I can see the day when I rule this whole region.”
“So you want to have me as a useful tool?”
“Technically, yes. But I'll help you get revenge for whatever you've lost. And Chelsea won't be able to touch you ever again, if you're my Luna.”
Cherry remained silent. I could tell that she was weighing my proposals.
“You don't have to make a decision right away. Take your time. Think about it." I didn't further push her. "Oh, the Lune Pack welcomes your children as well, by the way.”
“I only have a daughter.” She lied to me.
“You don't have to hide Oliver from me, Cherry. I'm not your enemy. If there's one thing, we're allies.”
"Will your pack members be okay with that?" She asked tentatively.
“Matter of fact, they've got your rooms in my house already.” My eyes fixated on her face, not missing every subtle change in her emotion.
Finally, a relieving look surfaced as she opened her mouth. "Thank you for your kind offer, Bill Alpha. I'll let you know my decision tomorrow."
“Sure! Look forward to having you aboard! The door of Lune Pack is open to you.” I gulped down the rest of the wine, knowing that I was winning her over.
