Chapter 104

Ch. 104 / 231 Apr 27, 2026

Cherry

"Yes. But I'll need your help, my special wolf. Will you grant me a yes?" Withdrawing her gaze, Nuu-Chah landed her eyes on me gently.

“Sure! I'm honored to do anything if that helps prevent a bloodshed, Nuu-Chah.” I nodded my head eagerly.

The Moon Goddess flashed a thankful smile before heaving a sigh.

“The deal between Fenrys and Lucy is rooted in you, Cherry. Lucy's utmost goal in this deal is to kill you. Once you're dead, their deal would be fulfilled. Fenrys will have to leave Lucy's body by then, and I'll get the chance to defeat Fenrys and send her back to the underworld.”

My legs lose their strength after hearing Nuu-Chah out. I shut my eyes in misery, weighing the consequences of whatever choice I'd make.

After contemplating for quite a few seconds, I blinked my eyes open.

“I'm willing to put an end to all this mess with my life, Nuu-Chah.”

“What? No! You must get me wrong, my kid. How could I allow Fenrys to take away my special wolf?! You're not gonna die. We're just gonna fake your death.” Nuu-Chah explained in haste after realizing that I misunderstood her.

“But how are we gonna fake it?” I crumpled my forehead while changing into a lighter mood.

“Do you trust me?” Instead of answering my question, Nuu-Chah asked mysteriously.

“Of course I do! You're the Moonlight Goddes of all shifters, Nuu-Chah. I cannot have more trust and faith in you.”

"Good." With that, Nuu-Chah opened her palm, revealing a pearl that resembled the moon.

“Swallow it, my kid. It'll do us wonders." Nuu-Chah said to me in an enchanting voice.

After taking the pearl over from Nuu-Chah's hand, I examined it carefully.

“This little thing will help fake my death, right?” I looked away from the pearl and up at Nuu-Chah, asking with uncertainty.

“Not wrong. Small it is, this pearl is powerful. It'll radiate an invisible protective shield when Fenrys gets close to you. At the same time, you'll fall into a deep sleep, one that resembles death.”

“Fenrys knows nothing about this pearl, right?”

“Not a clue." Nuu-Chah nodded before continuing. "Once she's out of Lucy's body, Fenrys will lose most of her power. I'll then knock her down and send her back where she belongs.”

I nodded my head and opened my mouth, ready to swallow the pearl when Nuu-Chah started again.

“You can't tell Dylan about this. The bond between your wolves will be severed when the pearl's in your body. Dylan won't be able to trace you down or mind link you. It will look like you're really dead even to him.”

“But our bond as mates will come back once it's out of my body, right?” I hesitated at this information.

“Of course." Nuu-Chah chuckled softly before lightly swaying her head. "Once I took the pearl away from you, it'll be as if nothing has happened.”

"Promise you'll take it out of me once you're done with Fenrys, Nuu-Chah." I made my last request.

“You have my word, my kid.”

After getting Nuu-Chah's promise, I swallowed the pearl down my throat, and then waited for something to be different. But nothing happened. I still felt like the same me.

“Are you ready, my special wolf? We have to get this done before they ran into Dylan and the warriors.” Nuu-Chah gently ran her finger on my cheeks.

"Yes, I am." I gave her an honest nod.

“I'll have to hide myself from my twin sister at first, but I'll aways be with you. Don't fluster when you cannot see me, my kid. You have my powerful pearl, remember?”

With that, Nuu-Chah covered my eyes with her palm. When she unraveled it, I found myself standing in front of a shabby temple. One etched with the cursed symbols of Fenrys everywhere.

As my eyes snooped around for Nuu-Chah, I got a relieving whisper from her.

“I'm right behind you. Carry on, my special wolf.”

Candles scattered all over this place. Their flames burned even brighter with each step that I took forward.

“Lucy! Fenrys! I, Cherry, am right here for you. Come and kill me right now! Let's put an end to all this mess!” I shouted in a firm voice, even when my insides were all jiggly in fear.

I halted and stilled on the spot when I felt a wicked presence behind me.

Looking over my shoulder, I jerked in fear as Lucy's eyes glowing blood welcomed me.

With a smirk, she strutted towards me slowly.

This was Fenrys, Nuu-Chah's evil sister. She was taking Lucy's body now.

“I would have to commend your courage, little wolf, to come here all by yourself, if I didn't know you have that pearl in your body.” Lucy's lips moved, but even her voice sounded different.

In the blink of an eye, she charged towards me, her claw tracing my mouth.

“Did my twin sister tell you that her trash stone will protect you from death?” Fenrys asked ferociously, her face within an inch from mine.

Then a blinding light shone in the temple as Fenrys ducked down behind my body. But her nails remained on the pulse in my neck.

I heard Fenrys smirk as Nuu-Chah finally showed up. “Did you take me for a fool, Nuu-Chah? You thought I cannot tell your little trick?!”

"Ahhhhhh!" I gritted my teeth and winced in pain as Fenrys tightened her grip on my neck.

“You underestimated me! A Hundred of years spent alone in the underworld gave me enough time to become stronger. How could you be so naive and think you can stop me with a crap stone?”

Fenrys was literally oozing hatred and resentment out of her system.

The Moon Goddess took a step back from me and Fenrys when she noticed Fenrys digging her nails deeper into my neck.

“Now, watch me tear your favorite wolf into pieces right before your eyes!” Fenrys warned.

Then a black and green smoke came out of her palm, which she plunged right into my chest while clawing my neck. No air was coming into my body even if I breathed deeply.

As I ran out of the force to struggle, Fenrys pushed me straight into Nuu-Chah's arms. Then she left Lucy's body.

“I'll come back to you, my kid. I'll come back to save you. Just hang in there! I'll have to deal with Fenrys first, or this world will end in shambles.”

Nuu-Chah hushed me gently while putting my body on the cold floor. Across me lay Chelsea, who wasn't moving at all.

Was she dead?
