Cherry
In the visiting room of the police station, I was shaking when Bert finally showed up from meeting the culprit.
“You know me best, Bert. You know that I would never do such a thing to Dylan. I love him, Bert. I will never hurt him...”
Bert nodded at me. He wasn't suspicious of me, but there was something in his eyes that started to wreck up my nerves.
“What is it? Did you talk to the culprit? What did he say? Is it someone we know?” I asked anxiously.
Bert shook his head. “No. It's my first time seeing him. He is not from Lord Hills.”
"Can I see and talk to him?" I needed to see the culprit and asked him to prove my innocence.
“The officers consider you as the mastermind of the crime, Cherry. They won't allow you to—” Bert hesiated before talking.
“But it wasn't me! I didn't order anyone to kill my mate, fuck!” I said, the last hope disappearing in my eyes. Left in despair, I hit my handcuffed hands against the wooden table.
“But the police traced a transaction record in your bank account, transferring a huge amount of money to the culprit's account.” Bert continued with another finding from the police.
My jaw dropped. I was so stunned by his revelation that all I could do was laugh.
“In the culprit's phone, they also found the text messages between you two, planning this accident,” Bert added.
“And you're believing this?” I was struck dumb.
“No.” Bert shook his head, “But with all this evidences pointing at you, there is nothing we can do for now.”
My mouth opened, shocked as it struck me that I was about to spend the night in prison.
I shook my head at Bert when the door was pushed opened. It was Dylan's parents. Heather came over and hugged me.
“I didn't do it, Heather. I would never hurt Dylan. He is the father of my children and I love him more than my life...”
She hugged me even tighter while caressing me gently.
“Cherry my kid, we know it's not you. Don't worry.” Chris said. “Heather and I will do everything we can to take you out of here.” The couple then eyed the door and a woman walked in.
“I'm Atty. Felicity Altamirano. Chris and Heather hired me to handle your case.” The woman introduced herself and then turned to Chris and Heather.
“I've investigated the incident before coming here. With all evidences pinning Cherry as the mastermind of Dylan's accident, the only option we have for now is...” The woman paused for a moment.
“What?” Heather cut her off. “Money won't be an issue. Just get Cherry out of here. She does not deserve to rot in here.”
“The only option is to persuade Dylan to dimiss this case against Cherry.” The attorney hesitated before finally offering the proposal.
After the brief meeting with the attorney, I had a few minutes with Chris and Heather.
“Where is Mike by the way?” Chris asked with concern.
“My father is taking care of Oliver. I don't want Chelsea to know anything about him." My voice shook.
Chris nodded in relief. Bert had told them about their grandson, the only blessing news over the past few months.
“The visiting hour is over. I need to bring the inmate back to her cell,” said the female police officer, and then she separated me from Heather forcefully.
The prison was packed with criminals in orange prison, all female.
“Get in now! What are you waiting for? That we spread out a red carpet for you?”
“Am I not supposed to stay in a different cell? Not with these…" I glanced at the female inmates, who were eyeing me as if I was a new prey that they couldn't wait to devour.
“Criminals?” The female officer laughed out loud, which made me jolt. She then forced me inside the cell.
I crawled away from all those women who were coming at me with evil grins on their faces.
“We received a hefty amount for that one. You gotta make sure to give her a good beating,” the female officer ordered
A woman in her late thirties walked up to me. Her hairs were pixie cut and the tattoos on her arm gave way of her status in this place. She was like the head of the criminals.
“Is it true that you schemed to kill the Alpha of the Starsmoon pack?” She asked as she caged my hair in her fingers.
I shook my head, trying to get free from her grasp, but all I got in return was a forceful slap.
I tasted blood in the corner of my lips.
“I didn't do it! I'm the Luna of Starsmoon pack, and he is my mate—” I gasped, having a hard time breathing when another criminal punched me in my gut.
“I'm the Luna of Starsmoon pack,” The head of the small gang in the cell mocked me.
“I don't care if you're the Luna of Starsmoon pack or not. Because right now, you are in my territory. I'm the Alpha here, and I'm free to do everything that I please,” she said before pressing her feet at my face, making me groan in pain.
“Ladies, I could use some entertainment. Why don't you take over?” She called to other criminals.
Because of the cut near my left eye caused by the woman with the tattoo, I could barely see anything. I could just feel them tugging my hair and slapping my face.
“No! Stop it! Please! I can't take it anymore! Just stop this...” I begged with tears in my eyes, but they only hit me harder. I felt a bone in my rib cracked when one of them jumped on my body.
“D-Dylan, help me,” my wolf whispered.
