WHERE AM I?

Ch. 242 / 312 Apr 03, 2026

Antonio’s eyes flutter open, squinting against the harsh fluorescent lights overhead. His mind is a blank slate, empty of the familiar memories that should be rushing back to him. A sudden dull ache pulsed in his head . However, the pain was a minor issue. He was more concerned about the emptiness in his mind and brain, especially the part where his identity should be. He blinked and tried to focus, but everything felt so strange and unfamiliar. Where is he? Who is he? A soft rustling of fabric drew his attention, and he turned his head to see a doctor standing by his bedside. She’s a woman, possibly in her forties, with kind eyes behind her glasses and a gentle expression. Her white coat is crisp and clean, and she holds a clipboard in one hand, making notes as she observes him. “Good, you’re awake”. The doctor smiled, her voice soft and friendly. She stepped closer to his bedside. “How are you feeling?” Antonio opened his mouth to speak, but hesitated, his thoughts were a jumble of confusion. “I… I don’t know,” he finally says, his voice weak and slow. “Where am I?” “You’re in a clinic,” the doctor replied. “You were brought in unconscious by a fisherman, and you’ve been here for a little while now. Can you tell me your name?” My name? Antonio searched his mind for an answer, but there’s nothing—just an empty blankness where his memories should be. Panic starts to set in, his breathing quickening as he realizes he doesn’t even know who he is or where he is from. He dug his finger into his hair in frustration. “Are you okay?” The doctor asked, concerned. “I… I don’t remember,” he admitted, his voice trembling. “I don’t remember anything.” The doctor’s expression softened, and she set the clipboard aside, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder. “It’s okay,” she says gently. “Memory loss can happen after a traumatic event, especially when there’s a head injury involved. We’ll do everything possible to help you recover.” Antonio stared at her, trying to process what she just said to him. He felt lost, and frustrated. The idea that he has no past, no identity was terrifying! The doctor continues, “You were found with a gunshot wound, but we were able to remove the bullet and stabilize you. Physically, you’re going to be fine, but the memory loss… Well, it may take some time. It’s not uncommon in cases like this, and your memories might come back gradually.” Might? Antonio closed his eyes, trying to force himself to remember, but it’s like grasping at smoke—nothing solid comes to him. “What… What should I do now? What's going to happen to me?” “For now, please focus on resting and healing,” the doctor advised. “We’ll monitor your condition closely. As for your memory, it may return on its own, but we’ll also bring in a specialist to help with that. Meanwhile, we’ll need to figure out who you are.” Antonio nodded weakly, though the fear and uncertainty still gripped him. The doctor’s words are meant to be comforting, but they do little to ease the emptiness inside him. He has plenty of questions! The doctor stood up, prepared to leave the room. “Try not to worry too much,” she said, giving him a reassuring smile. “You’re safe here, and we’ll take good care of you.” As she exits the room. Antonio was left alone with his empty thoughts. Fighting hard to remember something, anything! “Who am I?” He muttered as tears rolled down his cheeks, he stared down at his hands trembling. ******* Courtney stepped out of the sleek black car, her heels clicking against the cobblestone driveway of her house. The building, though not as grand as the Montero mansion, exuded a classic elegance, its stone façade softened by the lush greenery that surrounded it. The sunset, cast a warm, golden glow over the manicured lawns and neatly trimmed hedges. As Courtney made her way up the staircase, the large metal doors of the entrance swung open, and Kerry, Angela’s sister, came rushing out. Her expression was filled with worry. “Courtney!” Kerry called out, her voice filled with urgency. “Thank goodness you came back safe. What happened? Did you confront Damon? What did he say?” Courtney paused, allowing the tension from her confrontation with Damon to drain from her body as she took a deep breath. Her hands, still trembling slightly from the encounter, tightened around the strap of her handbag. She looked at Kerry, who was practically vibrating with concern, and offered a reassuring smile, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. “Yes, I confronted him,” Courtney replied, her voice steady but edged with frustration. “Damon is as infuriating as ever, but he didn’t give much away. He’s made some kind of power play, and Antonio’s disappearance is at the center of it.” Kerry’s eyes widened, her concern deepening. “What do you mean? What did he say about Antonio?” Courtney shook her head, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. “He’s keeping his cards close to his chest, as always. But I could see it in his eyes, he’s hiding something. I just don’t know what yet. I asked him which police station they took Antonio to, but he avoided that question like a plague.” Kerry bit her lip, her thoughts racing. “So, what now? What are we going to do?” Courtney’s gaze hardened. “We’re going to find Antonio, wherever he is. Damon may think he’s won, but I’m not letting this go. I’ll get to the bottom of whatever he’s planning, and I’ll make sure Antonio is safe.” She slowly sighed. “I hope he is safe… Damon is dangerous, and he will do anything to take over Montero's world. He killed Grandma and now Antonio…….” A sob erupts from her throat. “I …. I…..can sense something bad, I hope Antonio is safe and alive wherever he may be”. Kerry was touched, she hugged Courtney, tightly consoling her. “I am sorry Kerry, I forgot to talk about Angela …like I promised. I was so focused on Antonio's case. I am sorry”. “It's okay, you have done everything by allowing me to stay here when I had nowhere to go. Besides, if you had asked him about Angela, he would never give you an answer”. Kerry whispered, trying not to break down, too. Courtney cried more. “I wish things could go back to the way they are, Damon will never know happiness, he is a devil! How could he turn our world into this nightmare!” Kerry held her tighter. “We ain't giving up hope no matter what”. Angela disappeared, now Antonio. Will she ever find her family? Are they safe?
