RIGHT THING

Ch. 198 / 312 Apr 03, 2026

“But what about our friends? And school? And our favorite ice cream shop?” Lia complained. Angela made a sad face. “I know it's a big change honey, but we'll make new friends and find new favorite spots. And we'll stay in touch with our friends here through video calls and visits.” The kids are still not convinced. “Hey remember aunty Doris makes the best Pizzas imagine having her around the house all day, she will make us the biggest pizzas, and don't you like that?” She winked. Lia smiled a little at the thought of food. However, Liya still looked skeptical. “But why do we have to move? Can't you just do something, so we don't have to move, please?” Angela sighed, trying to think of a convincing explanation. “It's not possible, sweetie. But trust me, this is going to be an adventure for us all. We'll explore a new city together and make memories that will last a lifetime. I promise you baby, I want the best for us” The girls looked at each other, then back at Angela, their faces still uncertain. But Angela could see the resilience in their eyes, the adaptability that came with being a twin. “I am truly sorry about this baby, I don't want this to happen…” Angela smiled trying to fight back her tears. "It's okay, Angela, please don't cry”. Lia said and hugged her big Aunty. Liya joined and kissed Angela cutely. “We'll do it. But you have to promise us one thing.” “Anything,” Angela said, relieved. "You have to promise us that we'll still have ice cream Sundays," Liya said, her eyes sparkling. Angela laughed, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. “I promise, girls. Ice cream Sundays will continue, no matter where we are in the world.” The girls looked at Angela with appreciating eyes. “And what about Pizza? You will ask Doris to make it for us?” Lia asked. “Of Course! She will be more than happy to bake just for you two”. Angela smiled. “What about Uncle Charming heard from him yet?” Liya asked, pulling away a little bit to look Angela in the face. Angela hesitated, her mind racing for a convincing answer. Of Course, she can't tell them the truth that she was leaving to escape a fallout. Actually leaving because she's afraid to face her reality. “Ah, yes! I spoke with him last night,” she said, forcing a smile. “He has some business to wrap up here, but he'll be following us to the new city.” “Really?” Lia's face lit up. “Yep”. Angela nodded continuously hoping there won't be another question about him. “So that's why he broke his promise to us?” Liya replied with a pout. “You are allowed to be mad, but we have to leave now…our ride will be here very soon and you girls are not set for it”. Angela said, pulling Lia's dress off for a bath. “So just to make sure, Uncle Charming will be there too?” Angela sighed. “Of course”. “Yay!” The twins shouted in a chorus. “We'll all be together again!” Lia giggled happily. “I am going to make him pay”. Liya said as Angela undressed her for the bath too. But just then, Jace walked into the room, his eyes narrowing as he saw the twins willingly cooperating to take a bath. “Well look at this”. He sneered with his hands folded. The twins made silly faces knowing how frustrated he was by their stubbornness hours ago. Angela smiled at him. “The girls are getting ready as you can see”. “Yeah I see that quite well, I just wished you did try to convince them at first saving me from hours of emotional torture from those savages”. Jace replied with an eye roll. Lia brought out her tongue and Jace squinted his eyelids at that expression. “Don't you dare call my babies that Jace. They are adorable”. “Adorable pests you mean”. Jace muttered. Angela chuckled and took the girls into the bathroom. “I will be waiting in the living room!” He yelled before leaving the twin's bedroom. About an hour later Angela was brushing Lia’s hair, while Liya was all dressed up, playing a fruit ninja game on her pad. Just then Jace knocked to inform her that the driver was waiting for them already. Angela walked to the window side for a verification. “Alright we are done here Lia, quick let's go”. She instructed them. The kids ran happily towards the door while Angela moved around the spacious rooms, gathering their remaining belongings and packing them into suitcases and boxes. She wore a practical yet stylish outfit, consisting of a pair of dark wash jeans, a white blouse, and a lightweight black cardigan. Her brunette hair was pulled back into a sleek ponytail; however, she dressed the twins in comfortable travel clothes. She could hear their voices chattering excitedly as she packed up their favorite toys and clothes. Lia had on a bright yellow sundress with white flowers, while Lia wore the exact same dress but that of rose flowers. When she finally left the kid's room, safe had to remind the twins and Jace to double-check their rooms for any forgotten items, while Liya and Lia bickered good-natured over who got to carry Angela's handbag. Finally, with everything packed and ready, Angela stood in the foyer, surveying the surroundings one last time. The kids felt a bit sad again about leaving. The penthouse, once a symbol of luxury and comfort, they never had in the beginning. Now it felt so empty and hollow. Angela took a deep breath, her eyes shining with a mix of emotions. "Okay, girls. It's time to say goodbye to the penthouse, we have a better place to go now, okay?” The twins nodded, their faces pale. Angela kissed them and together, they all walked out of the penthouse, leaving behind the memories and the drama that had once filled their lives. “Angela?” Jace called from behind. Angela turned to him. “Can I have a minute before we leave?” Angela searched his face curiously. “Of course”. She left the twins at the passageway and walked back to Jace. His eyes were filled with a mix of concern. “Angela, are you sure you're doing the right thing?” he asked, his voice low and serious. “You're just going to up and leave without even trying to work things out with Antonio?”
