Antonio laughed at his reaction as expected of Jace. "Of course I will work on that but listen, Jace, I'm still concerned about Angela, I know, you must be concerned too”. He replied, his voice serious. “I'll keep an eye out for her, I promise she won't be in any danger as long as I live…so don't worry about her safety”. Jace was silent for a minute. “I will let you know her whereabouts after I call her”. "I'd appreciate that, Jace," Antonio said, a weight of worry pressing down on him once more. “Also thank you Antonio for loving my sister, Angela is an angel to us”. “You always say that she is an Angel”. Antonio smiled. “Well she is!” The flustered teen snapped. “I am not doubting that, she is an ANGEL to me too, believe me I know..I love her so much..and all I want is to be happy..that will only happen when I am with her…assured that the rest of my life will be spent together with her”. Jace smiled. “You two will be okay, Antonio. You'll see. I will talk to her." Antonio thanked Jace once more, and the two said their goodbyes. As Antonio hung up the phone, his worries about Angela returned in full force. He knew Jace was trying to be reassuring, but he couldn't shake off the feeling that something was very wrong. He stood up and paced the room, his mind racing. He wanted to believe that Angela was just busy, or that she needed some time to herself. But deep down, he couldn't ignore the creeping suspicion that her disappearance had something to do with the call he had from the strange woman. He took his phone and called her again. **** With shaking fingers, Angela silenced the ringing phone again, chaos swirling inside of her…she threw her head back crying silently. As the cab inched forward, the city streets blurring into one indistinguishable mass. Angela's mind returned back to Antonio. She pictured his face, his smile, the warmth and tenderness that had drawn her to him in the first place. It was a funny story of how the man she hated so much and wanted to escape turned out to be someone she could change herself for. She thought of the future she had imagined with him, while kissing and exhaling his breath the times they made love and heard each other's confessions. The promises they had exchanged. “I would never leave you, I am sorry I made that promise Antonio..I am not going to win this one… Diana's blackmail would shatter all of that. It would destroy the trust we've built. I am sorry, I was too foolish for not telling you this earlier, I was too foolish to trust Damon and…too foolish for hurting you”. She said in her mind. The thought of losing him, of hurting him the way she had, was more than she could bear. Slowly Angela closed her tearful eyes, trying to block out the noise of the city, the thoughts swirling in her mind. But the silence only seemed to amplify the sound of her own heartbeat, a constant reminder that Diana is out to destroy her relationship with Antonio and uncertainty of Antonio's love for her. “I don't want to lose him to her…but what am I supposed to do? Apologize? Our whole relationship was built on a lie! I lied to him from the first time…I wasn't p0inlove with him…I just found myself in love with him along the way…I am so stupid..why didn't I just say it…why?” She cried silently then her thoughts turned to her family. They can't continue living in the penthouse owned by Antonio? Living there is not safe. She quickly thought of taking out a loan, draining her bank account, and finding a way to finance a new life in a faraway city. She could disappear into the anonymity of a small city, start fresh with a new identity, a new life. But as she considered the implications of such a drastic decision, Angela's thoughts began to spiral into a darker place. Antonio had a lot of connections with the Mafias all over the world as he claimed. What if they found her? What if they followed them, no matter where they went? What if they are already being monitored? Will running away really be the answer? To leave the City and run away without an explanation to Antonio? As these thoughts swirled in her mind, she felt more and more hopeless, more and more lost. “What am I going to do?” Her phone vibrated at the same time in her hands, the screen illuminating with a message from Antonio. Her heart raced as she swiped down to read his message. It was short but they carried the weight of his concern and worry. Apparently Diana is yet to expose her to Antonio. "Angela, please call me when you can. I'm worried about you. I called and you are not picking after leaving a voicemail, I am dead worried about you". Angela read the message over and over, her heart twisting with guilt. How could she have put him through this? How could she have hurt him so deeply, so selfishly? She wanted nothing more than to reach out to him, to tell him everything, to beg for his forgiveness. But she knew that she couldn't. “I had to reply just to put him at ease, what will I say?” She said in her mind, staring at the screen. Her trembling nervous fingers started typing.
