Antonio looked up at Mama Elizabeth, her hair now slightly disheveled but radiating a newfound radiance. With a tender smile, he took her hand in his. “You are as beautiful as always, Grandma.” “Did you two have a misunderstanding? Why did she choose to stay with her family, and why are you two delaying the Marriage? Is there something I should know?” His grandma asked, waving off his compliments which she sensed to be a distraction. “Slow down”. Antonio chuckled. “Well, you are in a good mood, it's a good sign, just tell me there's nothing going on between the two of you, so I can die in peace”. “I hate when you talk like that, Grandma”. Antonio replied with a frown. “Then there is your bride!” Antonio sighed. “Fine, I think it's time I tell you the truth”. “What truth?” Grandma Elizabeth replied impatiently. Antonio hesitated, his expression shifting slightly as he pondered his grandmother's question. He knew he couldn't keep the truth from her forever, and he was not comfortable with the idea of lying to his beloved grandmother anymore. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for the difficult conversation. “Grandma, there's something I need you to know about Angela," he said, his voice wavering slightly. “You two broke up?” She cuts in. “No …no…that's not it… I … I'm afraid I haven't been entirely honest with you…actually we haven't been honest with you. My relationship with Angela was not as genuine as it appeared." Mama Elizabeth's eyes widened in surprise, her expression darkening as she processed Antonio's words. “What do you mean, Fox? Don't tell me you contracted Angela to act like…” she gasped and covered her mouth. “Yes I did…”. “She was a fake? I thought she was different!” “Yes!” Antonio snapped as he stood to his feet, he went to his grandma and knelt on one knee in front of her. “Yes…, she was different, believe me she regrets every single day for lying to you, I manipulated her into this in the first place, and I am sorry… I was a heavy burden to you… I have always been a heavy burden to you… I didn't even consider the fact that it was your dead wish…you wanted the best thing for me and I …thought it's okay to trick you… I was terrible…so terrible looking back, I hate myself… I hate…myself for hurting you… I…” The soft hand of his Grandma touched his cheeks, making him pause abruptly. He slowly looked up and met her wet eyes. “I am sincerely sorry, Grandma”. Antonio replied, a tear dropped in his cheek, to his surprise he touched it. “Look at that…you are apologizing, and you got emotional for my sake, I never thought I would see a day when you expressed emotions in such a passionate way”. His grandma cupped his face like she would do to that of a child. “You are back, my little Antonio”. Her old, wrinkled fingers trembled as they cleaned his tears. “All thanks to you Grandma, because of you, I found myself, that I lost many years ago”. Antonio took her hand and kissed it. Grandma Elizabeth covered her mouth with her other hand. “Oh my poor baby”. She gasped, holding back tears. Antonio continued. “You are the reason I met Angela”. “Angela?” She asked surprised. “Yes… Grandma I am in love with Angela and I can't wait to marry her. For real”. He stared at her deep in the eyes, hoping she would believe him. “Oh! I am the happiest person on earth, I knew she was the one…sweet Angela…don't be so hard on yourself Antonio…you are not the only one with secrets”. “What do you mean, Grandma?” Antonio asked, raising a question brow. “Do you really think I don't know that Angela was contracted to act as your girlfriend? I may be old, but you are my grandson Antonio, I know all about you”. Antonio scoffed in disbelief. “You knew all this while?” “It was very obvious! Don't act like you are excellent with the whole fake relationship…you may be an award-winning actor but to me, you are still my naughty sly little fox”. She caressed his hair. Antonio still kneeling was beyond speechless. “Well, my heart is broken, all that work for nothing, I was just clowning around, and you are acting along?” His grandma nodded. “Well, that's not all… I lied about my terminal illness…it wasn't a death sentence, I forged the entire report just to push you into finding a bride”. Antonio stood up with a hand on his forehead, in disbelief. “No …shut up! Don't tell me”! “I am not dying anytime soon, I …” Before she could finish, Antonio gave her the toughest hug she ever had, tight but squeeze, yet she didn't complain. “I lied to you about something as sensitive as death, you should be mad at me”. She chuckled. Antonio ignored her. “I felt like a burden was lifted from my chest the moment you said that Grandma, I am glad you are not leaving me any soon, what would I have done?” He buried his face in her neck and cried. Grandma Elizabeth was touched, she smiled and looked away, holding back her tears.
