Marilyn's smile was less bitter and the hatred in her eyes somehow faded. She said with a wry voice.
"Roland, I'm fine. I really am. Let's go on looking for a place!"
"School will start in two months. There isn't much time left for us to settle down on everything related to the kids' schooling.
"All kinds of documents are required in the relevant procedure. Usually, kids go to school near their places. So, we have to find a place with a school nearby. Though it's more expensive, it will be easier for my mom to pick up the kids."
"Alright, as you wish! Let's go then!" Roland said with a smile. He suddenly saw a bubble tea shop at the roadside.
Roland glanced at Marilyn and gave her a crafty smile. "Lynn, treat me to a cup of iced bubble tea. What we had just now was too salty."
"Sure. Let's go in and take a look." Marilyn's mood gradually lightened.
After going into the bubble tea shop, both Roland and Marilyn chose a flavor they liked.
There were some stickers of yellow smiling faces available at the counter. On a whim, Roland put one on Marilyn's fair forehead.
Roland smiled at Marilyn. His handsome face was always soothing.
Roland was tall and slender. His body was well-proportioned. He was stylish and even his low-profile haircut looked elegantly unique. Roland could always stand out from the crowds.
Looking at Marilyn's refreshing smiling face, Roland said, "Lynn, from now on, you should be as happy as it looks."
"Got it!" Marilyn drew a smiling face in the air with her finger.
What happened today was an exception. Marilyn wouldn't be easily upset anymore.
The two employees in the bubble tea shop looked at Roland and Marilyn enviously. They were such a perfect match!
Roland and Marilyn slowly walked out of the bubble tea shop under the envious gaze of the two employees.
As the breeze blew by, Marilyn's beautiful hair drifted back and forth, making her face hazy under her hair. On Marilyn's exquisitely made-up face, a pair of beautiful eyes, as bright as stars, were smiling.
"Roland, the iced drink is refreshing! But the bubble tea doesn't taste so good." Marilyn had her mood under control.
Marilyn smiled gently as usual.
"Yep, kind of. But I never drank bubble tea before I met you. Now bubble tea has taken over my life. Lynn, why don't you take over my life as well?" Roland said half-jokingly.
Roland thought the bubble tea was rather good, only less savory than what he usually had.
Marilyn rolled her eyes at him. "Roland, you can't make fun of that. How can I take over your life? It's your future wife's job!"
When Roland heard this, he felt upset. Marilyn could only see him as a friend and family, but not a lover.
No matter how straightforward Roland was, Marilyn wouldn't take it seriously.
What on earth should he do?
"Roland, there's an agency here. Let's go and see if there's anything suitable." Marilyn took a sip of the bubble tea, pointed over, and walked to the agency.
As Marilyn and Roland got closer, they found that the glass wall was covered with photos, prices, and positions of the apartments.
Roland and Marilyn took a glance, yet none of those apartments was suitable.
But it was just the first agency they had ever gone to, so Marilyn was not discouraged.
Marilyn and Roland kept looking for a suitable place until after 10 at night, but they could not find one.
Some were too far while some were on the wrong floors.
Marilyn had to take the apartment seriously. She couldn't be sloppy about it.
Marilyn was also happy to have a place of her own. She had always been dreaming of settling down all these years.
Wearing the stilettos, Marilyn couldn't walk any longer. She was starving as well. So Roland and Marilyn only went back after they had something to eat.
The next day was Saturday, and Marilyn planned to get up at nine o'clock. She would then have breakfast and go on looking for a suitable place.
Yet Marilyn forgot to turn off the alarm clock and thus woke up at eight.
Marilyn had to get up. After washing up, she changed into a set of sportswear and was going to jog for an hour in the morning.
Marilyn wouldn't get fat even if she ate a lot. But once she got time, she would still go jogging.
In her spare time, Marilyn would get trained in combat sports as well, to strengthen her body.
Marilyn was healthier than she had been seven years ago.
When Marilyn was in Goldmere, on the weekend, she would take her three kids to do morning exercise along with her mother. Those were the good old days that Marilyn would never forget.
When Marilyn was going downstairs, her phone rang.
Marilyn saw the caller ID. She smiled happily at once. Answering the phone, Marilyn said, "Mom!"
"Lynn, I thought you would sleep late on weekends."
Marilyn couldn't help but chuckle. She complained a little, "I was going to sleep late, but I forgot to turn off the alarm clock. So, now I'm going out jogging."
"It's good to exercise more. You have to take good care of yourself since you are in Fielddell alone! Don't worry about Dominic and Laverne. They're doing well! Jeannie took Arturo again today for some special event. You don't need to worry about them. You can take your time looking for a place. I still have some savings. If you don't have enough money for a good location, I can back you up."
When Marilyn heard this, she was very moved.
"Mom, how can I let you pay? I've got some savings and shares over the years. I should be able to buy a place for five."
"What are you talking about? You are my baby girl. I will always back you up. Lynn, listen to me. People don't spend much money at my age. You may use my money if you need it. You have to find a place near the school. It will be easier to pick up the kids from school."
Marilyn could tell that her mother was unhappy. She smiled and said, "Mom, if I don't have enough money, I'll let you know."
"That's my girl. Take care of yourself. When you find a place, I'll take the three kiddos back."
Her mom's loving voice always warmed Marilyn's heart.
The two chatted for a bit more before hanging up.
Marilyn smiled brightly. Anyone could tell her happiness from her face.
Marilyn ran along the river behind the community. There were very few cars on this road and many people were jogging in the morning.
Marilyn had been living in Fielddell for more than ten years. Though she had been away for seven years, she was still familiar with the city.
She kept jogging forward with a faint smile. In the crowds, her elegant figure stood out.
Malcolm also had the habit of jogging in the morning. His villa was not far from the company, and he would also jog in the morning on weekends.
To his surprise, Malcolm met Marilyn.
When Malcolm recalled that Marilyn had left without saying goodbye yesterday, his eyes turned cold.
Malcolm tried to ignore Marilyn, but as he got closer to her, he couldn't help but stop in front of Marilyn.
Marilyn saw Malcolm. Having recalled what happened yesterday, Marilyn's heart beat faster. She looked up at Malcolm nervously.
Malcolm's face was still as cold as ever. He stared at Marilyn coldly.
Marilyn was used to Roland's gentleness and friendliness. She was very unaccustomed to Malcolm, who was as cold as an iceberg. Malcolm stared at her coldly, making her feel as if she had committed a heinous crime.
Malcolm did not speak. The atmosphere became very awkward. Marilyn could not stand the embarrassment. She smiled and said, "Mr. Lowe, are you jogging as well?"
