Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 18

Ch. 18 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

Yvonne slowly withdrew her gaze, and her eyes were full of killing intent. Malcolm got away this time. He wouldn't be lucky next time.

Meghan had a complicated look. She looked at her mother and said firmly, "Mom, Malcolm is powerful in Fielddell, so we have to be nice to him. Why are you at loggerheads with him all the time?"

Yvonne glared at Meghan and said coldly, "Go to bed. What do you know?"

"I'm not a child anymore. Why can't you treat me as an adult?" Meghan pouted. She turned around and walked back to her room.

Hugo wanted to speak but was stopped by Yvonne.

"Hugo, go to bed. We can talk tomorrow in the company."

Hugo nodded and then went to his room.

Yvonne looked at the study room with disdain. She thought, "The old bastard is thinking about that woman again, but she will never come back."

Yvonne smiled coldly. Malcolm was a good bargaining chip.

Elvira never appeared again.

Yvonne twisted her slender waist and walked into her room.

Marilyn was exhausted the whole day and did not wake up until eight o'clock.

The phone on the bedside table rang.

Marilyn smiled and reached for her phone to answer the call.

"Mom, it's Dominic." The eldest son's voice came from the other side of the line.

Marilyn smiled happily. "Dominic, why are you calling so early?"

"Mom, grandma said that we are going to settle in Fielddell. It's a sudden decision."

Marilyn pursed her lips and was thinking about how to explain to her son, "Dominic, I will work at the headquarters here, and Fielddell is a good city. The three of you can receive a better education when you come here."

"Mom, I respect your choice. Laverne is very happy too. Arturo had a successful audition yesterday. He has an event today and was picked up by Jeannie this morning."

When Marilyn heard this, she smiled happily.

Arturo liked acting. She couldn't stop him so she just let him do it.

Marilyn suddenly asked cautiously, "Dominic, how is your grandma? Is she okay?" Marilyn knew that her mother didn't want to go back to Fielddell. When Marilyn mentioned Fielddell, her mother's face would change suddenly.

"Mom, grandma is fine. She was very happy. She said that she was happy as long as we were together."

Hearing this, Marilyn felt relieved. She was pleased that her mother was willing to come back.

"Mom, you have to go to work. I'm going to hang up."

"Okay! Dominic, I will buy a house and take you over soon."

After the call, Marilyn was in high spirits.

She quickly got out of bed and prepared to go to work.

In Goldmere.

In Marilyn's apartment.

A pretty little girl half-opened her eyes. Her eyelashes were long and curly, as beautiful as butterfly wings!

The little girl had the same face as Dominic, but she looked more lovely as a girl.

But right now, she was very unhappy. She pouted her little mouth and squinted at her brother sadly.

She complained in her soft voice, "Dominic, you hung up the phone again. You didn't even let me talk to mom. I miss her so much. You are so bad. You only think of yourself every time."

Her thick and long eyelashes flickered. She had tears in her eyes now.

Dominic couldn't stand seeing his little sister cry. It would break his heart. Laverne was the little princess of their family.

Laverne had been likable since she was born. She was lively, cheerful, and talented. She was good at painting. This year, she even had a chance to participate in art exhibitions.

However, Laverne was not a quiet princess, but a little schemer who liked playing pranks.

Perhaps beautiful girls were born mysterious.

Dominic looked at Laverne and smiled indulgently. He couldn't do anything with her. Dominic gently stroked her head and comforted, "Laverne, don't cry. I will take you to buy something good. Don't you like candies the most? You can have some candies while Mom isn't here."

When Laverne heard this, her big eyes instantly sparkled. Bright and clear. A happy smile was shown on her face. "Wow! Dominic, you are the best."

She rolled her eyes and suddenly asked carefully, "Dominic, if we go to Fielddell, can we find our father?"

Dominic heard this and frowned. The face of Malcolm, the president of the Lowe Group, suddenly flashed across Dominic's mind.

Dominic smiled at his sister. "Laverne, do you really want to find our father?"

Laverne nodded. Her shoulder-length hair fell loosely behind her. Her beautiful eyes were filled with anticipation. Laverne opened her mouth and said, "Dominic, wait a minute!"

As Laverne spoke, she took out a painting from a drawer to the side. Laverne fluttered her long eyelashes and pointed at the painting. It was a family portrait.

Laverne's style of painting was quite mature. In the painting were Dominic, Arturo, Laverne, their mother, and their grandmother. There was also a vacancy on the side.

Laverne smiled and said excitedly, "Dominic, look. There is a vacancy by our mother's side. When we find our father, I will fill him in."

Looking at Laverne's expectant eyes, Dominic smiled.

Outside the door, their grandmother heard their conversation and smiled too.

She thought, "Dominic, Laverne, you will find your father."

Your mother has escaped from this for more than ten years. It is time to go back and deal with it."

After Marilyn's job was settled, she threw herself at work.

She had been busy all day.

She had met everyone at work, and she had good relations with people. Everyone was very cooperative with her.

Marilyn's assistant Billie also came to work on time.

Only that Billie was not nice to Marilyn.

Before Marilyn understood the situation, Billie was cold to Marilyn, while Marilyn greeted her with a smile.

As for Julian, he flew to Goldmere to investigate Marilyn's identity.

Malcolm and Sergio were out discussing business cooperation with other companies.

The boss was not in the company, and neither was the secretary.

All the employees felt very relaxed.

Marilyn was satisfied with the nine-to-five job.

This was her dream job.

She liked her job. She took everything seriously.

A day passed in a flash.

After work, Marilyn changed into a casual outfit.

It was a normal pink dress, with her curly hair, bright eyes, red lips, and a slight smile on her face, she could always blow people away.

Marilyn walked out of the company's door and looked around for Roland. She did not see him.

"Lynn, I'm here." Roland could always find Marilyn at first sight. He waved at Marilyn and smiled brightly.

Marilyn smiled lightly and walked towards Roland.
