Malcolm looked out of the window, searching for Marilyn.
Suddenly, he saw Marilyn walking with a man, talking and laughing together.
Marilyn and the man were both holding a cup of milk tea.
Malcolm paused for a moment, and a sudden sense of jealousy came over him.
He felt unpleasant because he had a feeling that Marilyn was Carolyn.
Malcolm clenched his hand into a fist, his lips pressing together, and his deep gaze fixed on Marilyn and the man beside her.
Although the car had passed by them, Malcolm still looked over his shoulder at them.
Both Sergio and Julian perceived Malcolm's displeasure.
And they knew the reason.
They also saw Marilyn and the man next to her.
The man came to pick her up at midnight, and they behaved like a happy couple.
Julian looked at Malcolm, who wore a cold face. "Malcolm, you don't really think Marilyn is Carolyn, do you?"
Malcolm did not answer. He looked out the window with a stony expression.
Julian had got used to Malcolm's long silences.
After a long time, Malcolm looked forward and said coldly, "Sergio, drive me back to the Lowe's."
"Okay!" Sergio responded softly and turned the car left.
At night, a cool breeze caressed Marilyn's cheek.
She felt refreshed after the walk. She did not drink too much tonight.
Roland had noticed the stain on her shirt and asked jokingly, "Lynn, who poured red wine on you? Did you offend anyone?"
Marilyn looked down at her clothes and replied, "A colleague. She accidentally spilled her wine on my shirt. Never mind. It's dry now."
Marilyn recalled Melissa's dramatic expression.
"Well." Roland frowned slightly. He didn't speak it out, but he was not sure if it was really an accident.
He had encountered similar situations. Some women played tricks to draw people's attention.
Marilyn knew what Roland was thinking.
She smiled and comforted him. "Roland, it's fine! Thank you for picking me up at night. Tomorrow is Friday. Let's have dinner tomorrow night. After dinner, we can hang around."
This weekend, Marilyn planned to go out to look for a house.
If her kids were going to attend a school in this city, it would be convenient to buy a house.
Roland nodded at Marilyn with a gentle smile.
He paused for a while and then suggested, "Lynn, if you plan to stay here with your kids, you'd better buy a house. In this way, they can attend a public school."
Marilyn smiled brightly and said excitedly, "Roland, you can read my mind, can't you? I have been thinking about the same thing. I plan to go check out some houses this weekend."
Roland looked straight at her. He also wished that Marilyn could read his mind.
Sometimes, he was almost about to tell her that he loved her and liked her kids.
However, he knew Marilyn wouldn't accept him, and he was afraid that she would stay away from him after he said that.
He didn't want that result.
So, he chose to hide his love and support her by her side.
Roland smiled bitterly and said, "Lynn, let me go with you!"
In fact, he had an extra apartment in this city which was big enough for Marilyn and her kids.
But he knew Marilyn was a proud and stubborn girl who wouldn't want to trouble other people.
Marilyn looked at Roland guiltily. "Roland, you come here for work. I don't want to affect your job."
Roland knocked her on the forehead. "Don't be silly. It's a pleasure to help you. And I'm free this weekend."
"It hurts!" Marilyn let out a cry mischievously although it didn't at all.
Roland chuckled and patted Marilyn's head.
"You are a good actress!"
Soon, they arrived at the building where Marilyn lived.
Roland felt reluctant to part with Marilyn. He even wished the road to be longer.
He looked at Marilyn and smiled gently. "It's too late. You have to work tomorrow. Good night!"
"Well. Good night! Get home safe!" Marilyn said.
She felt warm and grateful. Actually, she had asked Roland not to walk her home because it was very late, but he insisted.
"I will! You could go up first." Roland urged gently.
Marilyn said goodbye and walked to the apartment.
Roland had been staring at her back. He didn't leave until the lights on the fifth floor were on.
He thought about what had just happened and smiled happily.
After returning home, Marilyn took a shower and went to bed.
The Lowe's was a villa that had a good view of the river.
What was more, it was next to the Remington's. So, the two families had a good relationship.
Sergio slowly pulled into the driveway in front of the garage.
Malcolm opened the door and came out. He looked back at Julian and coldly commanded, "Julian, find out Marilyn's identity and who the man next to her is. Don't let anybody else know about this."
Julian also nodded with a solemn expression. After so many years, he knew Malcolm had been waiting for Carolyn for many years and hoped that he could find her this time.
Malcolm walked towards the three-story villa. It was bright inside. He revealed a cold smile.
Malcolm pushed the door open. The decoration and furnishings were luxurious and elaborate!
He changed into slippers at the entrance.
The servant, Lucy, greeted Malcolm with a smile.
"Mr. Malcolm, welcome back."
Malcolm nodded slightly.
Lucy continued, "Mr. Malcolm, Mr. and Mrs. Lowe are on the second floor. Miss Meghan and Mr. Hugo are both there."
"Well! I see." Malcolm spoke to Lucy friendly.
He glanced at the stairs, and a strange look flashed across his face.
Then he strode upstairs.
As he walked, the laughter and talking became clear. A sudden sadness took hold of him as Malcolm thought of his mother who had disappeared.
"Mom, it would be a warm place here for me if you were still here," Malcolm thought to himself.
As soon as Malcolm entered the room, he heard a sharp voice. "Oh! Malcolm is back!"
It was his stepmother, Yvonne.
Malcolm looked at her and sneered, "What? Are you surprised to see me return in one piece?"
Yvonne paused for a second when she heard it.
Other people there also changed their faces.
Guillermo, Malcolm's father, was dressed in grey home clothes. He was sitting on the sofa and staring at Malcolm seriously.
