Chapter 27

Ch. 27 / 97 Oct 17, 2025

I had showered, washed my hair and changed into a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans and a cropped grey tshirt. I stuffed my bare feet into a pair of black Converse and ran my fingers through my damp hair. I could hear talking downstairs and I looked at my door. I had to go downstairs anyway as it was nearing 1pm so I couldn't get told off for it.

I grabbed my khaki jacket that was hanging up on the back of my door and walked out, heading downstairs to where all the guys where. I sat down on the last step and rested my chin on my hands, watching the guys in front of me.

Joey was seated on the sofa with Erik and Oli on either side of him. It made sense, they were the nicest and calmest out of everyone.

Carter was next to Oli and the rest of the guys were standing up, looking at Joey who was being spoken to by Adam. Eli however was leaning against the wall next to the stairs, scrolling through his phone with a blank expression.

He regarded me with a look when I sat down and I didn't pay him any attention.

"You're taking this a lot better than Noah," Adam said.

"Noah?" Joey questioned.

"He will be your fellow recruit," Adam explained.

Joey rolled his eyes. "Great."

"So, Joey, I've explained everything. Do you have any questions?" Adam wondered.

"Yes," Joey said. "I do."

"Fire away."

"What happens if I say no?"

"Excuse me?"

"What if I refuse to join your Agency?" Joey wondered. "What if I don't want to do it."

"You don't have a choice now we have told you about us," Adam said with a shrug. "The reason we work so well is because the whole organisation is a secret. It's on a need to know basis. Joey, you know about us, so you have no choice but to become a recruit."

"What if I refuse?"

"Refuse the Agency," Blake spoke up and smirked. "You could find out what running away is like from our resident bad girl over there." Blake turned to look at me and I narrowed my eyes at him. "Daisy is one of the best and even she couldn't stay hidden."

"I blame social media," I grumbled.

"I have to warn you, Daisy gets slight special treatment," Blake said. "The guy that runs the Agency is her and Adam's father. If it were anyone who would have ran away they would have been shot."

Joey paled. "Shot?"

"Boom!" Jack called and grinned. "Dead."

Joey swallowed. "Oh."

"So, what do you say?" Adam wondered. "You in?"

"You say it like he has a choice," I called and scoffed.

"He technically does," Carter mumbled.

"Between life and death. I wonder what he'll choice," I said sarcastically and Eli snickered from beside me.

"I always loved Mission Impossible," Joey smiled. "I'm in."

"Great!" I said loudly and stood up. "Fucking great. Wonderful. Congratulations, Joey. So happy for you. So fucking happy!"

"She doesn't like being an assassin," Carter whispered and I picked up an old pizza box that was lying on the side and threw it at his head.

"I need to go to the Agency," I said. "Someone has to take me."

"Eli has to go to the Agency," Tom said but I shook my head.

"Not him," I scowled. "He's done enough."

"Fucking hell, what happened this time?" Blake muttered.

"Who's taking me?" I snapped, ignoring Blake.

"I guess I can give you the honour of riding in my car, sweetcheeks," Mason said dramatically and stood up. "Although I wish it were a different riding."

Adam sharply turned to glare at Mason. "Watch it, Mason!" He warned.

Mason smiled innocently at Adam and I rolled my eyes.

"Mason, you can drive Joey and I to the Agency then," Adam said and I raised an eyebrow.

"Where's your car?" I asked.

"At home, I got dropped off here," Adam shrugged.

"Where am I going?" Joey wondered and I have him a cold look.

"To see daddy," I said dryly and looked at Jack. "You're coming as well. You need to get your wound checked out at medical."

Jack rolled his eyes and scoffed. "Daisy, you're not my mother, I'm fine."

"Get your ass up," I said sternly. "You were shot and while you may have confidence in Eli's first aid skills I do not. Get up. Now!"

Jack sighed, but slowly stood up from the sofa. "Bossy bitch."

"Stupid shit," I snapped and checked the time on my phone. "If I get in trouble for being late I'm blaming you."

"Clear off!" Blake called. "This place seems awfully crowded."

"Yes sir," Jack snorted and I led the way out of the house and towards Mason's car. "Dibs on front seat!" Jack yelled and barged me out of the way, ripping the passenger side door open and throwing himself onto the seat.

"You've just been shot," I said. "Are you in any pain at all?"

Jack shrugged and I sighed when I turned around and saw Joey and Adam walking up to the car. Joey got in the car first and then Adam looked to me.

"Ladies first," he said and I glared at him, but climbed in the car. Adam got in after and I was squished between him and Joey. Mason joined us soon after and started the car, driving towards the Agency.

"Daisy," Joey said quietly. "Are you annoyed at me?"

"No," I said and pursed my lips. "I'm annoyed at your situation... Actually, yes I am annoyed."

"Why?"

"You don't even seem upset that your job now involves killing people," I snapped. "Are you not going to feel any guilt! How are you happy about this!"

Joey frowned and shrugged his shoulders. "I suppose I've always thought I'm meant to do something with my life."

"This isn't it," I scowled.

"You ran away? Why?" Joey wondered. "Is it because of the guilt? Because you've killed people?"

"Daisy doesn't feel remorse when taking lives," Adam said and I stiffened. "That's what upsets her. And the people she affects because of it."

I spun round and glared at Adam. "He told you!" I seethed. "Rob told you!"

"You broke down yesterday, Daisy. I've never seen you cry ever, not even after you were kidnapped and tortured and nearly beaten to death," Adam shrugged. "You crying is a big deal, I wanted to make sure you were okay."

I gritted my teeth and scowled. "Who knew you cared," I muttered and crossed my arms over my chest.

"Who knew you cared," Adam countered.

Joey frowned at me but I ignored him and looked out of the window. I was silent the rest of the journey and when we reached the Agency I got out of the car as quickly as I could and made my way inside.

Joey was with Adam a few paces behind me, whispering to him. "Why is everyone staring?"

"It's not at you," Adam said. "Their watching Daisy."

"Why?"

"She's a bit of a loose canon."

I rolled my eyes.

"What did you mean that she didn't feel remorse and that's what upsets her?" Joey asked.

Adam sighed. "Daisy is a killer. She will kill in a heartbeat and not give a shit. She is upset that she doesn't care. She thinks something is wrong with her because she's so cold. So heartless-"

"Shut up!" I snapped and stopped in my tracks. I span round and grabbed Adam's collar with one hand and I took his gun that was hidden in his jacket and held it under his chin. "Shut up, Adam!"

"Like I said," Adam grunted, "loose canon."
