Contract With Alpha Theodore

Chapter 16

Ch. 16 / 220 Apr 30, 2026

Vanya's POV

I, of course, recognized the gentleman in front of me. He was the French financial titan, Ernest Glesson.

Ernest's eyes held a hint of surprise and admiration. "Vanya, your French is exceptionally fluent, as if you grew up in Paris." (French)

I slightly inclined my body in gratitude, "You flatter me, Mr. Glesson. I heard that you recently acquired the development rights to a piece of land in southeast Los Angeles. Congratulations, I believe it will have an excellent future." (French)

Ernest frowned slightly, expressing some concern, "But at the moment, that land seems quite ordinary, many people don't have high hopes for it, and I have some doubts as well." (French)

I shook my head gently and said, "Sometimes opportunities hide where they are not favored by the masses. Believe that there will be surprising developments there soon, you need not worry too much." (French)

After hearing this, the gloom on Ernest's face gradually dissipated, and he firmly grasped my hand, "Your words have reassured me greatly, I hope it will be as you say." (French)

At this moment, my peripheral vision noticed Melinda focusing her gaze on me.

I also saw that she was wearing a black dress of the same style as mine, but the effect was completely different.

I received many compliments on this dress, saying that I looked noble and elegant.

However, when Melinda wore it, it seemed to dim the luster of the dress, as if it were a common, cheap item.

Melinda seemed unwilling, clenching her fists, but she still forced a smile and said, "Luna Vanya, you are really amazing. You even speak French."

I just smiled at her slightly, without responding.

Cliff might remember that I know some foreign languages, but not many people can speak French, so he probably didn't expect me to say it.

"But Luna Vanya, what did you just say to Mr. Glesson? He seems very happy." Melinda asked curiously.

I replied calmly, "I just told him that the piece of land he bought at the auction the other day will definitely be developed well, so he is very happy."

"The land will be developed well... and make a lot of money?" Melinda looked puzzled.

I knew that in her eyes, that piece of land didn't seem special.

"Perhaps." I said casually.

In fact, in my previous life, that piece of land was indeed developed well and sold for a high price later.

The area around southeast Los Angeles will be developed into a scenic spot, and the land Mr. Glesson bought will be used for tourism development, making him a lot of money.

Mr. Glesson probably anticipated that the area was about to be developed and bought the land.

Melinda, obviously, did not have such a vision yet.

Cliff stared at me tightly for a while, his gaze making me somewhat uncomfortable.

"Why are you looking at me?" I couldn't help but ask.

Cliff slowly asked, "How do you know that place will be developed in the future?"

From his expression, it was clear that he might have known the potential of the land, but he gave up buying it, choosing to let Mr. Glesson do him a favor, which is indeed something he often does.

I explained earnestly, "I just said a few nice words, you are overthinking it."

Cliff frowned, as if considering whether I was lying.

After all, based on his understanding of me, I don't seem likely to know what will happen to that piece of land in the future.

In the end, he probably thought he was overthinking and just said, "Alright."

Then, he ignored me and took Melinda to socialize with other people.

Melinda turned to leave, and before she left, she seemed quite apologetic and glanced at me.

That look seemed to convey her helplessness and being in a situation beyond her control.

However, I was still aware of the trace of complacency in the depths of her eyes that she could not hide.

I was full of self-mockery and drained the champagne in my glass in one go.

The spicy liquid slid down my throat, but it could not extinguish the bitterness in my heart.

At this banquet where everyone gathered, I had now become a pitiful abandoned woman mercilessly left in the corner by her husband.

My own husband not only resolutely abandoned me, who had just been married for not long, to accompany another woman, but also boldly brought her to this banquet, introducing her to those influential figures in the business world.

I looked around, and the gazes thrown at me contained sympathy and pity.

I felt very uncomfortable because I originally planned to use this opportunity to meet more elite people from high society, but with Cliff gone, it became difficult for me to approach those people.

I thought to myself, how can I naturally approach them?

My gaze slowly wandered around, eventually settling on a violin not far away.

A slight smile rose at the corner of my mouth, and I already had an idea in my heart.

I walked lightly and gracefully to where the violin was placed, exchanged a few words with the person in charge of the musical instruments, and then picked up the violin calmly.

As the daughter of the Alpha of the Thunder Pack, I had learned many skills, and the violin was one of them.

In my previous life, these studies had no place to be displayed, but today, unexpectedly, they could be used here.

I haven't touched the violin for a long time, and my fingers are a bit rusty, but countless practices in the past have made my muscles form memories, making it second nature.

I gently placed the violin on my shoulder, pulled the bow, and the melodious sound of the violin instantly floated in the banquet, the melody complementing the atmosphere of the scene, fitting perfectly.

Soon, everyone was attracted by this beautiful music and immersed themselves in it, as if time had stopped for this music.

At the end of the song, warm applause thundered.

Sure enough, several noble ladies with smiles on their faces walked towards me and struck up a cordial conversation with me.
