“Good. Now, I'm certain I have a responsible son. Inform the Swiss group so that the business plans can begin as soon as possible. I will be on my way, I'm almost late for an appointment,” Joshua Harper said, patted Noah's back and left the office. Noah frowned as he watched his father leave.
“Grace Shields,” he muttered repeatedly.
Grace Shields was in her house, working with her laptop when she received an email. She opened the mail and saw that it was an appointment letter from Blackwood Towers. She went through it and was excited to see that she was invited to join the new project while working closely with Noah Harper, the biggest CEO in the country. She was to be his assistant for the project just as she wanted! She called out to her friend, Aria, who was in her house screaming,
“Aria! I made it into Blackwood Towers!”
“What? Oh my goodness! I'm so happy for you dear. You see, I told you. It's time to get your man back. Fight for what is yours. You alone should be Mrs Harper,” Aria said.
“You are the best teacher. I'll follow your advice to the end!” Grace promised.
“This calls for celebration! We need to celebrate your new position and the first bold step towards becoming Mrs Harper! Let me go get the wine. The food will be ready in a jiffy.”
Few months ago, Noah Harper had purchased a Bugatti for his wife and handed a billion dollar designing company to her. He opened it, funded it and registered the business in her name. He presented it to her as a huge surprise and the news lingered on the internet for many weeks. Everyone called him romantic and Emily was said to be lucky to have him. But when Aria saw this, she had other thoughts.
“Grace, did you see what Noah did for his wife?” she asked.
“Yes, I did,” came a dry response. She was obviously not interested in the topic.
“Come to think of it, don't you think all these should be yours? The position Mrs Harper is rightfully yours.”
Grace sat up this time.
“You think so too?”
“Yes Grace. You and Noah have always been a match made from heaven. That woman knows what she did!”
“How do I get him then? It's been three years but he hasn't looked my way,” Grace lamented and looked at Aria for help.
“Give it a little time. A room will open and we will have a perfect time to strike. There's no need to be hasty or mistakes will be made.”
When Blackwood Towers revealed that they will be working with Swiss group for the new project, Grace thought of every possible means to join in. She wanted to be close to Noah. Fortunately for her, it happened that she had a friend from amongst the members of the Swiss family. They got along when she worked with Troy on a project that made a name for her. She met him and pleaded that she wanted to be part of the project. He promised to see what he could do about it. This young man presented the issue to his family members but each person already had other ideas. The Swiss group had a complete team and were all set for the project but Blackwood Towers was lacking a few people. Then, Randy Swiss felt this was the perfect time to chip his friend, Grace Shields into the project. He told his family members about her. Her friendship with him coupled with her recent breakthrough with Troy group gave her an edge over the others so she was selected for the project.
Looking at the email, Grace smiled broadly, she was all over the moon at the moment. She picked up her phone and called Randy. She needed to express her gratitude.
“Hello,” she said immediately the call connected.
“Hi Grace. How do you do?”
“I’m very fine and you?”
“I'm alright. I can hear a glint in your voice. Care to tell me why?” he asked.
“Well, I called you to express my gratitude! I've gotten an appointment letter from Blackwood Towers! I'm part of the new project now!”
“Wow. Congratulations. I knew you were going to make it in.”
“Thank you so much, Mr Randy. I'm very grateful.”
While Grace was excited about the news, Noah sighed repeatedly as he looked at the appointment letter his company had sent her. It was in this state that his door opened and Frank entered.
“Blackwood my man!” he teased and went towards his table. Noah smiled weakly.
“When did you return?”
“Ahh. Blackwood, no. Is that the welcome I get?”
“Sorry, your Highness,” Noah joked and they both laughed.
Noah and Frank were still the best of friends despite the fact that they didn't see each other often. Noah and Frank were both out of the country a few weeks ago but Noah returned before his friend. And as soon as Frank returned, he paid his friend a visit.
“I returned two day ago. Meanwhile, what's with that look on your face? I've not seen you look sad in a long time.”
“The problem is this,” Noah answered, pointing at his screen.
“Your laptop? Is it damaged? Get a new one then. As simple as that. Wow, I see you have a new portrait on this table. You have a nice family. See how pretty and handsome your wife and son look,” Frank said, turning the portrait on the table.
“Thanks for the compliment, and I know I'm handsome too, even if you don't say it. My laptop isn't the problem. Take a look at this,” Noah responded, turning the laptop to his friend.
“An email? What email can make Noah Harper of Blackwood Towers so shaken? A letter of appointment? Who's appointing you?”
“Frank! Be serious for once, will you? Be quiet and read through!”
“Yes boss.”
When he finally did, a shout escaped his lips involuntarily.
“What? Grace? You have Grace Shields as your assistant? What for?”
