Contract Marriage; Fated Love

Chapter 113

Ch. 113 / 137 Mar 20, 2026

In the midst of all these, while Emily was trying to fix her life and put herself together, Gu Yanxi called to share the good news. Her fiancée just proposed to her!

“Emily! Guess what?”

Emily had to force a smile on her face, she didn't want to wash her and Noah's dirty linen in public. Moreover, Gu Yanxi had this light air around her that got anyone to relax when speaking to her.

“Spill it already, baby girl.”

They were on a video call so Gu Yanxi raised her hands and waved it in a royal style for Emily to see. There was a sparkling diamond ring on the ring finger of her left hand.

“Oh my goodness! Congratulations baby girl! I'm so happy for you.”

“Thank you so much. Finally, I can have my man all to myself. He's going to treat me well, just like my brother treats you!” Gu Yanxi said.

Emily smiled and said nothing. In her heart, she asked her friend and sister in law to be careful what she wishes for. If only she knew that she was at the verge of leaving Noah because he was pounding his secretary behind her back.

“I will like you to make my wedding dress for me, sister in law.”

“You don't need to say that twice. Your wish is my command, your highness,” Emily replied and they laughed.

“That reminds me. How about the design and cloth I wanted to promote for you? Have you completed it?”

“Oh. It escaped my mind. It's in my office. And yes, it's ready.”

“Great. Gu Yanxi, the social media promoter got you covered. I'll be coming over to the office. With this joy in my heart, I'm sure I'll make a great video and you will have clients lined up to have your designs!”

“You are so funny. I'm still at home, but you can drop by at the office. I'll meet you there.”

Emily completed the divorce agreement she was typing before she stood up to get dressed for her appointment with her sister-in-law.

Noah returned from work at the usual time and his son ran to hug him.

“Daddy! Welcome daddy!”

“Oh my boy! How are you?” Noah responded and carried him up.

“I'm fine daddy. How about you?”

“Daddy's great,” Noah answered and put him down.

“Where's mummy?”

“She stepped out.”

“Oh. Okay.”

Later in the evening, Liam came to ask his father if his mum had returned and where she was.

“She'll soon be back,” he answered.

“Okay daddy. Daddy, please, can you help me with my homework? I'm a bit confused about the solution.”

“Alright. Bring it let me see.”

Noah took his time to explain the homework, step by step to his brilliant son. Afterwards, they solved the questions together and the boy thanked his father for his help. As he was about leaving, Noah said to him, “Mummy will soon be back, okay? Go back to what you were doing or to your room, alright?”

Emily seldom stayed out late and if there was any reason whatsoever, she would call to inform him but today, she didn't do that and she wasn't taking his calls either.

Thirty minutes later, Emily strode in like a princess.

“Sweetheart, where have you been? You haven't been taking my calls.”

“Take your calls for what? What reason do I have to?” Emily retorted.

“I was worried, so was our son.”

“He's not your son!” Emily snapped. This statement surprised Noah beyond measure. His tone changed from concern to anger.

“What do you mean by that? How can you say something like that? Can you tell me exactly what I've done and stop all these madness? What do you take me for?”

“I should stop all these madness? Why do you act like you don't know what you've done? Why?”

“Emily, if I say that I know what the matter is, then, I'm a liar. Before you travelled, we were fine. Even when you were away, we were talking until one day, you just started acting up and you expect me to understand? I'm I some spirit? Tell me what the problem is. Did I do something wrong? Is there anything I'm not doing right? Did you see me with another woman? Did someone tell you I was cheating? What exactly?”

“You just said it yourself. I'm glad you know the problem.”

Emily walked past him and stopped at the table where she retrieved a paper from the table. She walked back to him and held the paper towards him.

“Here, take it.”

“What's this?” Noah asked as his hands touched the paper.

“Divorce papers. I want a divorce!”

Noah let go of the papers like they were hot coals. His voice softened immediately.

“Divorce papers? For what?”

“How long were you planning to fool me? How long were you planning to lead me on in this? Tell me Noah. How long, you bloody bastard!”

Noah stared at her, his mouth half open. He couldn't place what she was talking about. What did she mean by lead her on and hide something from her?

“Talk to me in clear terms, Emily. You have been repeating this line about hiding something from you and leading you on. I'm confused. For starters, I know I did nothing wrong to you, but let's say I'm mistaken. But if you don't tell me, I will not know. Please, I don't know what it is I've done that you can't forgive. You can't just hand me divorce papers like this marriage means nothing to you,” Noah complained.

“Did it mean anything to you in the first place? If it did, you will not be with another woman when your son was sick and dying in the hospital. If it did, you will not sleep with another woman and tell me different stories to cover up for your short comings and inability to zip up. After being devoted to you and loving you for three years, you chose to pay me in this way. Sign the papers and let me go and start afresh!”
