“We finally got to meet!” Elisha shrieked.
“Yeah!”
They placed an order and discussed over lunch. By the time they were leaving, they realised that they had even gotten closer than they thought they were.
“I don't want to look for you during the wedding, please!” Gu Yanxi begged.
“Sure. Why will you look for me? I'm going to be there, life and I'll shut down the whole place! I'll tell them that it's my friend who's getting married!”
Gu Yanxi wanted an elaborate wedding and so did her fiancé. Their families were influential and well known in the social ladder. Aidan’s sister's wedding was glamorous and so was hid brother's. Noah's wedding was also the talk of the town and no wedding has beat it in three years. Theirs wasn't going to be a mess! She's a Harper and a popular social media influencer for goodness sake! Aidan was a son of a great man, surnamed Valentino. Gu Yanxi invited him to a private lounge so they could talk it over.
“I’ve already arranged a wedding planner and I have everything set in place,” Aidan said, a wide smile spread on his face.
“That’s so thoughtful of you. What would I have done without you?” Gu Yanxi teased.
“Nothing sweetheart. We are perfectly made for each other!”
“I know, right? I'm already arranging my bridal train and I…”
“I already know Emily is making the dress. I also know that if she were single, she would be part of the bridal train,” Aidan cut in. He really knew his fiancée too well.
“Aidan please. I know you already think you know my plans but I'm going to surprise you. Damn, you mustn't guess right all the time!” Gu Yanxi pouted and folded her arms across her chest.
“Oh baby. I'm sorry. I won't be faster than my shadow next time, I promise.”
“Pinky promise?”
“Yes babe. Pinky promise. But do you know you look very beautiful when you are angry?”
Gu Yanxi flushed red in embarrassment.
“You have the floor now. Let me know what you were saying to me before I interrupted.”
“I was telling you about my bridal train and yes, Emily is making the dress. Hee designs are top notch and can't be overemphasized.”
Aidan's phone rang, interrupting the peace of the moment. He looked at her with pleading eyes, asking for permission to answer his phone. When he was done, he held her hands gently and said,
“Baby, can we talk about this later? I have to meet my brother at the company urgently, please. Don't be angry with me.”
“Is there a problem? Did something happen?”
“No. It's just something I need to sort out. I'll drop you off and we will do this next time, okay?”
Noah was pissed that his father supported Grace without even hearing his own side of the story. He even went ahead to threaten that no law firm would take up the case. Grace was back at the office and she went about her daily activities like a princess, and like one who had committed no crime.
Noah tried to reach his wife severally to explain things to her but she never picked his calls. He didn't want to go back on his words do he didn't go to the house to disturb her. All she was waiting was for him to sign the papers and set her free from the marriage. Liam on his own part was waiting for his father to return from his ‘business trip.’ What he didn't know was that his father now lived in one of the luxurious hotels he owned in the state.
Gu Yanxi made the necessary calls and with Elisha's help, she contacted the wedding planners and they set to work. The wedding was to take place by the end of the month. Elisha suggested a wedding dress design and said,
“I'm sure your husband will love this one, check it out!”
Gu Yanxi looked at the design and thought it to be gorgeous. It was extremely beautiful and fantastic. It gave off classy and rich girl vibes and Gu Yanxi loved it. She showed it to Emily saying,
“What do you think of this?”
Emily looked at it and smiled.
“The design is nice. But let me remind you that you are the one delaying your dress. I've given you various samples to choose from and you haven't done that up till now.”
“Common Emily. The dresses are too beautiful that I don't know which to pick. Elisha, help me out please,” Gu Yanxi pleaded, turning to Elisha.
“Take this one, you will love this design. And with the wonderful touch of Butterfly designs, it will come out even more beautiful than it is here.”
“You are a life saver. Emily, I choose this dress!” Gu Yanxi finally made her choice.
Elisha sniffed as she showed her the dress. This was the wedding dress she had chosen the day she was discussing marriage plans with Aidan. She had picked five styles and he chose exactly that one she was giving Gu Yanxi to wear. Although she was friendly with Gu Yanxi to get back at her, she felt a pang of guilt each time Gu Yanxi looked at her with those innocent and bright eyes of hers. They had gotten very close but Elisha refused to forget the main plan. It must be executed and nothing would stop it! She knew Gu Yanxi’s marriage story and she wasn't happy giving her that wedding dress style but she only wanted Gu Yanxi to have at least a good and memorable wedding, in a dress that the groom would love.
The clock ticked slowly and days went past but Noah hadn't heard from Emily. He moved out of the house to his hotel and requested the presidential suites. He had one of the rooms furnished to his taste and his closet filled with new clothes. He had the required resources to rent a house and the power to get a comfortable bedroom flat in the hotel but he didn't want that. He only needed just one room. Everyday, while at work and while at home, he waited for Emily 's call but it never came until one day. He had just returned from work, and lay down on the bed when his phone rang. He checked the caller ID and it was Emily . With a very happy and expectant heart, he clicked the answer button.
