“Elisha, you have to be kidding. Let's go home please. Don't be offended. Get into the car, let's go please,” Aidan pleaded.
Elisha roughly threw her things on the back seat and got into the front seat without saying anything to Aidan. The drive home was a silent one and a clear contrast from the drive to the mall. As soon as they got home, Elisha jumped out of the car and went into the house, grabbed her hand bag and stuffs and walked out again.
“Take me home,” she spat and sat down inside the car.
“Baby, what now? Are you serious about this? It was a mistake and I'm sorry.” Aidan reached out to touch her but she yelled at him.
“Don't you dare touch me. It's either you take me home or I get down and call a taxi. Which are you doing?”
“It's alright. Please, just calm down. I'll take you home.”
Aidan reversed the car and drove her home.
“Baby, babe, please…” Aidan came down from the car and tried to stop her but she brushed him aside and went inside.
Aidan waited all day and called her in the evening but she didn't answer his calls. He texted her, yet, nothing. He thought she was playing some pranks and would come around but when this continued for days, Aidan knew that she was serious. He respected her opinion and ended things with her. He never disturbed her again.
Meanwhile, what Elisha wanted was for Aidan to beg her, chase her and make her feel important and loved. She put up the act to test his love for her and see how far and how long he would keep coming back but she realised too late that the young man had gone. When she came back to him, he had already moved on.
“I'm sorry but I only respected your opinion and allowed you to go. I'm trying to heal from the heartbreak. Let's leave things as you have made it,” Aidan said to her that evening.
“So, there has been someone else all along? I'll make you regret leaving me. If I can't have you, no one will!” she swore and left his house.
As she sat on her chair in her house thinking about this, she sighed. She promised to deal with him and that she must do. She checked the name that her informant had given her.
Gu Yanxi Harper.
She sighed again, for the hundredth time that evening. She thought of what to do and how best to execute her plan and the best thing she could think of was to be friends with her enemy. That way, it will be easier to get close to her, monitor her every move and finally get a chance to swoop down on her and hurt her! She looked up the name on social media, stalked her and followed her on every social media handle. This was the first step to her plan. Gu Yanxi was a content creator and she was very active on social media. Just as Elisha expected, Gu Yanxi accepted her friend requests and the began to chat.
Gu Yanxi was enjoying the company of her new friend on social media. She was such a sweet soul despite the fact that they haven't met physically. They talked or chatted everyday and Gu Yanxi looked forward to these conversations. It helped to calm her mind and make her be at peace. Talking to and chatting with Elisha was part of her regular and daily life.
Her phone rang and she made a dive for it. She was expecting a call from her online friend. They agreed to meet that day after a long time of being social media close friends. She sighed when she saw it was her manager at the company, nevertheless, she had to answer the call.
"Good morning, madam."
"Morning. How may I help you?"
"Please, madam, I called to remind you of the meeting scheduled in thirty minutes, with the new investors, ma," the dutiful manager reported.
"My goodness! I totally forgot about that. Inform my assistant. Let him go, please. Or, never mind. I'll call him myself."
Gu Yanxi had been so excited about meeting this online friend that she forgot all about her meeting.
She quickly called her friend, Richard, who was subsequently her assistant. He was learning fast and was doing great in the business sector.
“Good morning, Ma'am," Richard greeted.
"Common. It's Gu Yanxi, not ma'am."
Richard had the habit of calling her ma'am during working hours although he called her Gu Yanxi outside work. He said he had to observe work ethics and she was his boss at work.
"Alright, Gu Yanxi. How are you?"
"I'm fine. Please, I need a little favour from you please. I'm sorry. I forgot I had a meeting in thirty minutes and I'm going out. Can you help me attend it, please?" Gu Yanxi asked cautiously.
"Sure. Give me a brief on the meeting.
"Thank you so much. You are a lifesaver! It's a meeting with our new investors, Chakos group of companies. I'll inform my secretary to send you the details immediately. I wish you the best in the meeting. Help us secure that deal please. Dad's looking up to me on that and I can't disappoint him, please.”
“Sure, I'll do that. You can keep your mind at peace and be rest assured that I'll handle things well,” Richard promised.
“Thanks. Break a leg.”
When she hung up, Gu Yanxi called Emily to inform her that her online friend was coming that day. She had wanted Emily to meet her as well but Emily had other plans and couldn't make it.
Thirty minutes later, Gu Yanxi was at the restaurant where she and her online friend agreed to meet. She saw a familiar figure, in the clothes her friend said she was putting on. She walked up to her and they recognized each other. Gu Yanxi stretched her hands for a handshake, saying,
"I'm Gu Yanxi Grant."
"I'm Elisha Austin."
