“Leave Aidan? But we just got married and I love him so much.”
“That doesn't matter. Leave him for me. He's my man!”
“Elisha please. I need to go home. Don't do this, I just got married because I love him so much and he loves me too. You should have met him or do this before the marriage not now!”
Elisha stood up from her chair and walked to the door.
“You know what to do. Leave him and I'll let you go. A maid will bring your food and untie you too. I'm going this far because of our friendship and you better appreciate me.”
“Elisha no you can't leave me here,” Gu Yanxi cried but it was too late for Elisha left and shut the door behind her.
The servants and maids in Gu Yanxi's house waited for her return but she didn't show up. Aidan had hired servants and maids to be at her beck and call in the house before travelling. Amd before he travelled, he charged them with the responsibility of taking good care of her.
She wasn't home the following day and the day after. At this, the maids began panicking and informed Aidan. They called his office number because that was the number they had. They were maids and weren't allowed to have his private number for any reason. They called and sent a voicemail but there was no response. One of them went to the company and requested to send a message across to the CEO. He was only granted access because Gu Yanxi had at some point sent him to deliver something to the company. He wasn't granted access to the CEO but his note was delivered to the CEO. The assistant got the message and promptly informed his boss. They dialed Gu Yanxi's’ number but it wasn't going through. Aidan ordered his assistant to hurriedly call the police to make a formal report and they swung into action. They didn't tell their father to avoid frightening the old man.
Noah was having his bath when his phone rang so he wasn't able to pick up. After bathing, he dressed up and left the house, and forgot to check the caller or call back. In the middle of a business meeting, his phone rang again and he put it on silent mode. He hated distractions during his important meetings. It was only after he returned to his hotel room later that night that he had time to call back. Firstly, he checked his messages and answered his son's message. He had been coaching the boy online on the coding classes. Liam said he wanted to be learning while his father was away and Noah was always available to be of help.
Next, Noah checked his calls and returned Emily's call for she was the one who called him earlier. He was however surprised to see her phone call. She hadn't been taking his calls in a long time.
“Hello…”
“Noah. Why haven't you been taking your calls? Do you know how scared I was too?” Emily asked.
“I'm sorry. I forgot to call back in the morning and I was in a meeting in the afternoon. And what the hell is making you scared simply because I didn't answer the phone?”
“Noah, Gu Yanxi is missing.”
“Okay, that's funny. What do you mean by she is missing?”
“We can't find her and her phone is switched off. It's not going through. The maids in her house said she hadn't returned for the past two days!”
“Goodness me! This is serious. What could have happened? Have you called the police?”
“I have, that was the first thing her husband did. He has even returned from Dubai because if this.”
“Relax, babe. She will soon be found, nothing happened to her, okay?”
“I hope so. She's never done this before. Gu Yanxi does not just disappear. She updates her social media handle daily but I noticed she hasn't done that either. I'm bothered and I hope nothing bad has happened to her cos I…”
“Easy ma. Should I get a private investigator to speed up the process?” Noah suggested.
“Please do. I'm really loosing my mind.”
As promised, Noah hired a private investigator and the man promised to handle the matter properly.
When Emily called him again a week later to say there has been no positive response, Noah had to sit up. It dawned on him that this was no joke. His father was asking of Gu Yanxi and he didn't know what else to tell him. She was his only sister and sibling and he would not let anything happen to her. Never! Because of this issue, he communicated with his wife often and it was as if the divorce case never came up. But Emily reminded him of that when he called her Sweetheart one day.
“Don't call me that. We are no longer married. I'm only waiting for your signature on that paper. Again, I called you because my friend and your sister is missing. Don't think out of the box, please.”
Meanwhile, somewhere in a secluded part of another state in the country, Gu Yanxi was still in the confines where Elisha kept her.
“I have come up with new terms. Since you can't just leave him or find reasons to suddenly divorce him, I'll give you new conditions. I've thought about it and I totally understand.
“I'm sure that the police and everyone will be searching for you. I'll let you go and allow you to live a happy life with Aidan since I can't have him back. I will not hurt you because we are friends and I love you even if I had to do this or go this far. But if I let you go, the security agencies will track me and have me imprisoned for kidnapping you. In that case, you will pay me three hundred million dollars and I'll travel out and start life all over. That way, we will both be fine.”
