“I do not accept your rejection.”
I pushed the door of my room in annoyance.
No one has ever looked me in the eye and said a No, not even Bianca my fiancé.
It was disturbing. Her eyes blared with hate and a tear at the corner of it.
Something wasn’t right when I felt that.
And it came from a weak wolf.
A lowly omega!
Glaring at me.
I took off the crown and tossed it aside, I ruffled my dark creamy hair.
I flopped on the chaise lounge.
I was trying to think of a thousand reasons she do not want to accept my rejection.
Nobody would want to be mated to a king like me, and I was older than her.
Was I not terrifying enough?
Isn’t she scared of me?
Why?
Why does she want to keep the bond?
There were so many why?
But not an answer, it was an answer I couldn’t get except from her.
“She’s not a lowly omega, she’s our mate.”
I scoffed at Dugan’s voice.
“I do not want a mate...” I drawled.
“But you’re getting married to Bianca.” Dugan snorts.
“She needs to stand as the Queen. Our pack needs it.” That was the only thing that would stand between us.
“So she’s benefiting?”
I rolled my eyes at the word.
“Don’t talk about her like that, her father died saving us,” I remembered it was the same night I lost Jolene.
“That was years ago.”
“I felt like yesterday.” I sighed and stared over at the wall, there was a sketch of her. That’s how faintly I remembered how she looked.
“I made a promise I would protect his daughter. She’s a member of my pack and a strong Lycan. She would make a good Queen.” Bianca went on a trip for the weekend and would be home tomorrow hopefully.
I don’t question her, I believe everything she says because I didn’t see a reason she would have to lie to me.
Moreover, I don’t care.
Nothing interests me anymore.
“What about Viola?” Her name sounded lovely when he called her.
“She’s just a slave,” I muttered, I don’t wanna talk about her.
Dugan suddenly growls painfully, I clenched my chest as the piercing pains continue. I fell to my knees on the ground gnashing my teeth. My hands tightened on my chest.
A deep growl escaped my throat.
I could feel a part of our bond breaking.
Was she accepting the rejection, why was it hurting so much?
“Argh.” I groaned and struggled to get on my feet but my knee was getting weak.
“Think how painful it’s gonna be if she accepts to break the bond,” Dugan whispered.
“I won’t die from it.” I cussed inwardly.
I got on my feet when it stopped. I was the one who offered the rejection and I’m the one hurting.
“Get me a tea.” I mind linked the head servant. I needed to calm my nerves.
“Why is the bath not prepared?”
“Do I have to tell you everything?” My jaws were pressed together.
“Are you asleep?!” I half yelled.
“No, Alpha. I won’t dare close an eye when you’re still awake.” I could feel the panic in her voice.
“Fair enough.”
“I will send a maid immediately.” She rasped on.
“Do the needful, if you do not want to end up in my dungeon before dawn.”
“I’m sorry, Al...”
I shut her out of the mind link.
“I would make her accept the rejection.” I didn’t know how but I don’t want to be bonded to a wolf.
I hate to admit she affected me.
I keep seeing her face, the last glance, her hard stares, her violet eyes.
It was disturbing, I hate being disturbed.
She couldn’t sense that I was her mate, if I hadn’t blurted it out she won’t have known about it.
She hasn’t wolfed out yet, her wolf is too scared and distant.
I wonder what made her and her wolf too scared to shift.
“Why don’t you ask her?” Dugan asked. I shook my head to the side slightly.
“It’s none of my business.”
He’s affected by her too, I hate it.
“Where is the tea I asked for!” I rose.
“How long did it take you to bring it? You fool!” I shouted at the door.
“I brought your tea, it’s gonna cure your insomnia...” She hurried in with the teacup. Her hands were trembling.
Her head was down at my feet.
I slapped the cup off her head spilling the hot coffee on the ground.
“What makes you think you can cure me!” I thundered in her face. Her face turned white and she dropped down to her knees.
Shuddering in fright, she clasped her hands together, realizing her mistakes.
“Gemma!” I won’t call twice before he barged in.
“Take her and have her head, feed them to my dogs, they are probably hungry for a feast.” I turned my back against her.
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Please have mercy!” She pleaded. I heard nothing of that.
“I will never do it again.”
I spun around swiftly.
“The head servant brought you here, didn’t she?“ She was beginning to get on my nerves.
Her head flattens on the ground.
“Yes.”
I squat close to her.
“Tell her, I’ll make her death painful for her negligence and send my condolences to her pups.” I breathed into her face and stood up.
“Take her out and get me another tea.” I waved a finger at her.
“She’s the last of your maidservant, Alpha.” Roland, the Gemma replied with a sigh.
“What about the others?”I narrowed my eyes at him.
“Why ask the obvious?”Dugan taunts mockingly.
Roland fell silent for a while before he parted his lips and his voice came up.
“Some doesn’t wanna serve you, we changed servants every night. The others are scared they would end the same way. I’m sorry, Alpha. I’ll get you another one immediately.”
“Bring then head servant here, herself...” I pointed a finger at him.
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Hold on...” I stopped him and he turned back at me with a curious look.
“Yes, Alpha.”
“I have a slave,” I smirked. The word suddenly clicks. I hadn’t thought of it yet.
“That’s correct, Alpha.”
“Bring her to me, she would serve my bedroom from henceforth...” I pursed my lips and stared at him.
“...after all, she was a gift to me.”
“A precious gift,” Dugan added, he wasn’t gonna give up yet.
“Take her out of the dungeon, but not tonight.”
I don’t wanna seems like I was desperate. I just locked her in, I can’t take her out yet.
I should show her I wasn’t affected by her.
But I don’t know how long I could wait, with my body craving for her.
Damn!
