“Get out, you’ve been let out.” The guard who was watching over the dungeon called out and opened the doors.
Does that mean I’ve been free?
And no longer accused of being involved with the ladies.
“That doesn’t mean we ain’t watching you, slave. Our eyes are on you.”
I stand to my feet and hurried to the door, eagerly waiting for it to be opened.
“You’ve to meet with the head servant, she’ll tell you want to do.”
“Who is the head servant and how...”
“Come with me.” He shut me up, I nod at him curtly, and he places the keys in his pocket and pushes the door open.
I followed him out, I don’t want to go back there again, my body aches, and was sore on my feet.
But then again, I heard Damien’s voice last night.
I was sure of it, it was his voice that I heard.
“Walk faster!” He yelled at me, I hastened up and followed the path he took.
“She lives close in the mansion, she’s in charge of all the servants in the pack. She called Ma’am Carol. Make sure you give her some respect and do as you’re told.” He glanced at me over his shoulders.
“Yes, I’ll.”
“It’s starting now Lana,” I called out to my wolf.
“I’m going to live in the mansion.” I rubbed my hands together, I’m getting closer to Damien.
“As a servant, Vee.” She replied sadly.
“Isn’t that what I’ve always been?” At my pack and now here.
“But it’s better off than staying in the dungeon.” My head bumped into his back from behind. I didn’t know he had stopped walking. I stepped back away from him.
“This is it, and that’s the head servant staring at you outside those large doors.” He spun around and face me.
“I can’t go further, I must return to the dungeon.” I bowed my head at him and strolled past me.
I stared at the woman, she was short and plump with blonde hair, her gaze sharp and her eyes withering on me.
She gestured at me to come with a finger.
I dragged my legs to her, now standing in front of her, and watched the older woman scrutinize me with her eyes.
“You look bad.” Her voice is stern and strict.
“And you kept me waiting.” She scowled at me.
“I’ve no time for that yet, the King needs to have his breakfast, at 7 Am every morning no night meals, and not a minute past.” She stared at me, with a slight frown on her face.
“Why?” I stared at her through my lashes.
“Do not ask questions!” She snapped.
“His waters warm for a bath, not too hot or cold. Mid. You must know the exact temperature for it.” She countered, I guess she wasn’t done yet.
“How am I supposed to know that?”
“Then you get killed for making it a little hot or too cold or a minute late for his breakfast or cleaning his room, and ironing his clothes wrongly or there’s a glimpse of dust on his desk or shelves or anywhere in the room.” She drawled every word while taking a step towards me.
“That’s absurd.” I blurt out.
“What did you say, absurd? Do you know who he is?!” She yelled at me, her face was a few inches from my face. She lifts my chin and turns my head sideways.
“I must say, you’ve remarkable eyes, it’s glittering.” I gently took her hands from my face, that was the only precious thing I had left.
She cleared her throat and took a step back from me.
“The King must be treated with the utmost respect, now get to work you’ve five seconds before it clocked 7. You better run. If the king doesn’t eat his breakfast, consider yourself dead! Slave!” She screamed in my face.
“I’ll tell you the rules you must keep if you come back alive.” She turned and walked into the house.
I kept Damien's meal in the dining area that was close to the kitchen and it felt a bit homely.
Staring at the bacon and eggs and bagels and racks of toast for good measure, the table was filled up making my stomach growl hungry, I run my tongue over my dried lips and forcefully take my eyes away from the meal.
I turned and saw Damien staring at me, his hair was still wet and he looked gorgeous with those wet hair down on his face.
He tied the robe to his side.
“You came late.” He said in a bored tone.
“I..I...I came from the dungeon.” He knew that right, can he let me off just this once?
“Is not an excuse.” He sauntered closer to the table and pulled out a chair.
I fidget with my fingers staring at my feet.
“Let’s have breakfast. There’s enough.” He gestured to the empty chair for me to seat.
“I’m not hungry...” And that was when my stomach growls loudly. I bite the side of my cheek with my eyes shut.
“Just sit.”
I sat down on the chair and served myself on a plate. I sneak a peak at Damien over the table and watch him spread a generous amount of butter on each slice of toast.
He doesn't appear to be someone who overindulges, his refined taste and reserved personality suggest otherwise, though.
Despite this, his plate is piled high with food and he eagerly seeks out more to eat.
He's only showing the public what he wants them to see.
“Stop staring at me and eat.” I looked away when he caught me staring at him.
I ate the slices of bacon, which had always been my favorite but Cranon deprived me from eating them and I hadn’t tasted them for a long time.
“Eat slowly, here have some water.”
I muttered a ‘thank you’ and took the glass. I was asked to serve his breakfast and I was eating from it and probably ate more than he did.
I wiped the side of my mouth when I was done eating and saw Damien staring at me with his elbow on the table and his hands on his jaw.
He half-smiled and scoots closer to me, his fingers slightly brushing my cheeks and tucking the loose hair neatly behind my ears.
“You ain’t gonna accept my rejection are you mate?” I could feel his breath on my face and how softly he spoke to me.
“What?” The voice sounded in unbelief.
“She’s your mate!” The voice made me jerk away from Damien, jumping from the chair I was sitting on.
Bianca?
