A Slave For The Lycan King

What could be wrong?

Ch. 33 / 35 Jan 13, 2026

~Viola~

I stared at Damien as he slept, his head resting on my bed and his hand grasping on mine. I played with his thick dark hair with my fingers loving the feels in my hands and then traced it down his sharp jawline.

He didn’t sleep throughout the night, I didn’t know why I couldn’t ask because I told him I was already sleeping.

Out of the corner of my eyes, Damien was wide awake, his eyes didn’t shut for a moment. He was brooding so deeply and it only made my heart hurt seeing him that way.

The door opened and I took my gaze away from Damien to the door, Lucas came into the room holding some baskets of fruits and some bread.

“Monica...” Lucas grinned as he strolled into the room. I glared playfully at him.

“Lucas.” I took my hands off Damien’s hair and fixed my gaze on Lucas.

“Don’t stop.”

“I love it when you play with my hair.”

Damien’s hoarse voice made me freeze. I thought he was asleep.

He lifted his head from the bed and leaned his back on the chair with his hands folded staring intensely at me. His hair was a bit messy.

His intense gaze was making my cheeks hot.

“Bought some breakfast, I didn’t know what you would like, bring them in Jack.” A young boy who would probably be the same age as me came into the room with a nervous smile.

He greeted Damien and he didn’t stir or acknowledge his greetings. His eyes were solely on me, I nudged him over the arm, and he turned and glanced at the boy with a short nod.

He scurried out when he dropped what he brought on the table beside Lucas.

“I’m glad you are awake, the doctor came to check on you didn’t he?” Lucas asked to take out some of the fruit from the basket.

“Yes.” He was the same doctor who treated Damien the other time.

Doctor Adam.

“What did he say?” Damien stared between me and Lucas. “...why didn’t he come to me?”

“Because he was scared you were going to kill him if he stuttered in front of you. He hasn’t recovered from the last experience.” Lucas grinned at him, throwing a slice of the fruit into his mouth.

“We had the rooms prepared as ordered and everything is in place at the house about Bianca, she’s a Lycan of which she recovered so quickly.” Lucas rumbles and settles in an empty spot close to Damien. Damien glares whispered to him, Lucas chuckled and moved slightly away from him and kept his hands at his side.

“What happened to Bianca?”

“Nothing.” They both replied and I narrowed my eyes at them.

Did she get hurt? She won’t be recovering if she wasn’t hurt.

“Did she...”

“What did the doctor say?” Damien leaned forward changing the subject as he took my hands in his.

“He said I can go home now, I have spent three days here already and I’m healing.”

Damien nodded but wasn’t letting go of my hands.

I turned and rested my body on my side.

“Monica...is there anything you would need? Because I’m leaving and will get them when I come back.” Lucas stood up from the chair and was heading towards the door. “There’s food, don't forget to eat it.”

I shook my head at Lucas, I won’t be needing anything. I know he was busy since Damien had stayed with me at the infirmary for the past few days and Lucas has been the one roaming around the territory.

“We would need some clothes,” Damien replied and rose from his seat to meet him. He placed his hand on his shoulders and whispered to him.

Lucas nodded and waved at me with a sweet smile.

Damien slapped his shoulders and he took his gaze back to Damien, listening to what he was telling him, and walked out through the door.

“What did you say to him?” I asked when he came back to the bedside.

“Nothing serious. It’s about the pack.” He smiled softly at me and was peeling some oranges.

“What happened to your mate?” I blurted out. I have been waiting to ask him for the longest time but I haven’t found the perfect opportunity yet.

Damien stiffened when I mentioned his mate and his eyes turned cold.

“You don’t have to tell me.” I quickly chipped in and tried to stop him from telling me further.

“She was murdered.” He said as if those words were focused out of his mouth.

Everyone thinks he killed her and I almost believed the rumor that he did.

“Do you think I killed her, Viola?” He looked at me and stopped peeling the oranges.

“No, you won’t be able to hurt her. You are not that kind of a man.”

“What if I did?” His head was down and he clutched tightly to the knife.

I didn’t know what to say, I wanted to touch his arm but I then dropped my hand back on the bed. Was he saying this to make me get scared of him?

“Damien you won’t do that,” I muttered faintly. His face held no emotions and he continued peeling the oranges.

“Do you need some bread, sausage?” His hand stroked my hair for a moment and withdrew his hands and started taking out everything Lucas brought.

“Kanal...” The small voice called from the door, I tilted my head to the side of the door and saw a woman standing, she would be the same height as me or a bit shorter.

Her cheekbone was high and above it was a scar and her small brown eyes glimmered, her curly hair rested on her shoulders and there was some grey mixed in it.

Damien was startled when he heard the voice, he spun around immediately and stared at the woman.

“Son...” She stretched out her hand towards him, Damien went to her, taking her into his huge fame.

“I came to the house and I was told you were at the infirmary, I was worried.” She held my hands in her fragile hands. Damien had the bed raised and I was no longer laying down but seated.

“I see, it was you.”

“You had to travel such a distance, we would have come to you.” Damien seems displeased at her.

“When was the last time you visited me Kanal? You left me there for a long time, you didn’t come to see me.”

“It was to protect you.”

She shoved him aside and took his stand and was staring into my eyes as if she didn’t want to talk about it.

“Oh, she’s beautiful. She looked like me when I was younger.” She teased and Damien chuckled and it seemed he didn’t want to argue with her and he simply nodded.

“You are Damien’s mate?”

I nodded with a small smile.

“Oh my.” Her eyes held so many emotions in them.

“Can I speak to you for a moment, King Damien?” Doctor Adam muttered from the door, Damien nodded and walked out with him.

“You can call me Neveah. I’m Damien’s mom.” She squeezed my hands.

“I can see Kanal is worried about you. Don’t worry, you won’t end up the way Jolene did. I promise he won’t lose another.” Her eyes welled up in tears, and I don’t know why I was feeling my eyes build up as well.

“I feel scared.” I sniffed and she pulled me into her bosom and rubbed her hand over my back

I can’t tell Damien, after what happened to me when Roland had attacked and now Bianca. I have been scared of the lycans.

“What happened to her?”

“She was killed most maliciously, it wasn’t a good memory. After the war, we became enemies with the wolves and to protect me, Damien had to keep me away somewhere safe from the territory.” She sighed and her hands were still on my back.

“You’ve stayed this long and survived, my dear, you are not an ordinary wolf.”

“It’s because Damien protected me.” I wiped my eyes and held her tight, I inhaled her motherly scent and I was starting to think of my mom.

I burst into tears, bawling my eyes out with my hands clenched tightly around her.

“Mother, what have you done?!” Damien’s angry voice thundered around the room. He hurried to the bed and disengaged me from Neveah and carried me into his arms and made me sit on his lap.

“Talk to me, what’s wrong?”
