Claudius's perspective
I smiled as I heard Eero's little curses while I took Perseus away from her to bring him to where Codrus woke.
"You better make sure that you'll keep him safe, Claudius. If something happens to my pup. I'll rip your throat," she threatened me. I could hear how serious she was, but I still found her cute and adorable like a tamed little puppy.
"Answer me? And don't you dare bring him outside of the realm or somewhere I don't know! He has a tracker on his watch for your information, I could see his whereabouts." I glanced at the wristwatch on the arm of my pup. Perseus noticed that I was looking at it so he raised his arm so I could get a proper look at it.
"My Mama and I made this. She's the one who painted the dial too. She's so talented right, Uncle Claudius?" He asked me. I moved my head to agree with my son.
"Claudius, I'm still waiting for you to answer me!" Eero said knowing her. She'll keep on bugging me until she gets the answer that she wants to hear from me.
"I'm not going to kidnap our son, okay? I want to be with him for a little while, but I'll give him back to you, okay?" I asked her through the mind link.
"Okay," Eero replied in tiny. Perseus and I stopped in front of a double door. I felt the sudden changes in his heartbeat and when I looked up at him. Perseus's face was pale, he was nervously nibbling his lower lip too.
A smile painted my lips, "You're just like your mother when nervous." My words distracted him for a moment. His eyes fluttered at me.
"Are there a lot of shifters inside?" He asked.
"I'm not good with crowds, Uncle Claudius. I should have gone here with my Mama. She knows how to calm me, I don't even know how she does it."
I squatted to level my face with his, and the resemblance in our facial features warmed my heart.
"Do you want to hold my hand? I'm not sure if it will help, but should we try?" I asked him and opened my palm before his eyes. His eyes sparked the brightest as Perseus smiled at me and nodded in agreement to my suggestion.
Upon holding my hand. My pup gazed up at me and then back to our intertwined hands.
"I wonder if he can feel the bond that we have as father and son," I said to my wolf.
"Perseus probably felt it, but because he's still too young he thinks that Miguel is his father. Perseus can't quite understand that the comfort and safety that he's feeling right at this moment is caused by your bond with him."
The double door opened. Perseus held my hand tighter. I saw him swallow a lump in his throat.
"It's okay, young prince. I'm here. You'll be fine."
"But why are they looking at me that way? It feels weird, Uncle Claudius."
I looked around and back at him again to whisper, "They are probably in awe at how good-looking you are which is why they can't get their eyes off you."
"Well, I'm my mother's son and she is the prettiest shifter in the whole Regulus and Blackthorn. It's only natural that her son is the most handsome child that walked the two cities."
"I think you got that confidence from me, son," I said to Perseus. He looked up at me. Thinking that he heard what I just said. The smile on my lips dropped.
"What did you say, Uncle Claudius? I got distracted by the old man in the front row. I didn't catch what you were saying." I looked for the old man that Perseus was referring to and saw Octavio lightly shaking his head at the scene.
"I don't like the way he looks at me. It feels like he hates me."
"We hate that old man too, Perseus. Don't mind him. We didn't come here for you but for your grandpa." Perseus nodded to me.
"Do you have any fond memories of your grandpa?" I asked him, this question. I was hoping to get to know my son better.
"None that I can recall, but he always sends me gifts and toys."
"Are you close to Grandpa Codrus?" I chuckled at his question brought everyone's attention to us.
"No, we are not. In fact, until two months ago. Your grandpa hates me. He doesn't want me near your mother." His forehead knotted at confusion.
"Huh? If you're close with Mama, and you seem like you're an overall nice person. Why would Grandpa hate you?"
I tilted my head, amused at the amount of questions that this child could come up with.
"It's complicated," I said, ending this topic of conversation. Perseus was a bit small and he couldn't peek at the casket of his grandpa by himself even when he already tried to tiptoe.
"Do you want me to carry you? It'll be easier for you."
"You will? But I'm a bit heavy. Mama doesn't want to carry me anymore. She said that I'll break her spine because of my weight."
"Really huh?" I asked, and he moved his head while his lips were pouting.
"It's a good thing that I have the strength of ten horses and I can carry you around even when you turn ten years old." Perseus chuckled again.
"You'll still be around that time?" Perseus asked with a hopeful voice.
"Yes, now that your grandpa has crossed the bridge to take his rest with the Moon Goddess. I'll have to stay around to protect you and your mother from the bad guys," I said to him. Perseus turned to look at Octavio.
"Like that old man?" He asked and I nodded my head to him, which made the two of us giggle again.
"I like you a lot, Uncle Claudius. Do you want to sleep in our house tonight?" Perseus offered.
"I don't think your mother will like that idea."
"Of course, she will. You're dear to her, remember? You're our family, someone important to her. She will not say no."
