Eero's Perspective
My pup was sitting prettily on the sofa savoring a red velvet cookie on his hand when I walked out of the bathroom.
"Perseus, about the sports car that your Uncle Claudius gave you. We'll discuss that matter after your grandfather's burial," I said to him. He stopped munching his cookies.
"Are you going to make me return the car to Uncle Claudius?" He asked, which made me sigh.
"I wonder what the hell your father was thinking when he gifted you that sports car. And one more thing that I can't understand. Where did he find the time to buy you that car?" I whispered in a low voice.
After wearing my pearl earrings. Perseus and I are ready to leave for the burial.
There was a long line of cars in front of the realm. The first one was reserved for my family and the second one was for the Luna Queen and her son.
"Uncle Claudius!" Perseus immediately let go of my hand and ran to his father. I watched the two of them do a handshake that only the two of them knew. As my wolf caught a whiff of the scent of another shifter. The smile on my lips popped.
"We will leave for the burial in five minutes, but your husband is nowhere to be found. The father and son's bond is beautiful isn't it?" He asked meaningfully.
"Is there something wrong, Beta Octavio?" Claudius slowly walks towards us. His aura intimidated the beta. Octavio stepped away from me.
"Nothing, everything is fine," he answered in time before we left for the cemetery. Miguel arrived. Claudius, Miguel, and Perseus rode in the same car.
My phone beeped. Upon picking it up. Miguel's text message welcomed my eyes.
[The annulment of our marriage is done and through. You and Claudius can get married whenever you want.]
While I was reading his text message. I could feel another eye reading it too. I met Claudius's gaze, but he said nothing.
"Let's talk about this matter after the burial, Migs," I said to him through telepathy.b
In Regulus culture, the body of the Alpha was burned on the last day of the funeral, then his ash would be scattered to the wind. The Regulus pack members believed that, by doing that, the dead Alpha would be able to continue guarding and protecting the pack.
"Your grace?" I snapped back to reality and stopped musing after a torch was offered to me. I stared at it for a moment. Feeling the eyes of many, I didn't know what to do.
"Everyone is waiting for you, Your Grace. Please go ahead and burn the Alpha's body so he can finally be at peace," Claudius whispered to me.
Perseus let go of my hand. I accepted the torch, and while I was holding my tears. I placed the torch on top of the late Alpha's body.
Luna Queen Alice was the one who had scattered her husband's ashes around the realm afterward.
"Now that the Alpha King's funeral is done. We must discuss an important matter that can't be left unattended for a long time." Octavio began. I eyed Perseus's nanny, sending her a signal to take Perseus to his room.
"What's the matter that we need to discuss? When will your grandson be crowned as the new Alpha King?" I asked Octavio.
He was about to answer when Octavio's trusted Beta interrupted us.
He whispered something to Octavio that instantly changed the Beta's mood. He didn't say anything, but I know that the news has something to do with Aelice and his son.
"What is happening?" I inquired to the delta who was about to follow his master.
"Your Grace, I'm sorry, but this is a matter that I can't discuss with you unfortunately."
Claudius chuckled darkly.
"You're talking to the shifter who'll be the new Alpha in a few days, and you're telling me that there's a matter in her pack that she isn't allowed to know."
"Claudius, please, don't put words in my mouth. It's not like that—"
"The news that you told the Beta. Tell us what is it or I'll hear the details of that matter from another mouth, but you wouldn't be able to come out of this room alive."
"It's Prince Vance. He's missing. Luna Queen Aelice can't find her anywhere," he said.
I know what it feels like to lose a son. I got up so fast from my seat and ran to Aelice's room. I found her breaking down on the floor of her room.
"Alice, what happened? How did you lose Vance? How about his Nanny? Where is his Nanny?" I asked her while I was cupping her cheeks.
"I don't know. I went to his room to remind him that his lesson would start in an hour, but I saw blood and I found his Nanny dead, t-then I couldn't find him anywhere," she said to me stuttering as she choked on her tears.
I looked at Claudius, who left Aelice's room.
"We're leaving next week. We are going to leave after your wedding with Claudius." Aelice suddenly kneeled in front of me, tears kept staining her cheeks.
"Please, help me find my son. I-I can't leave without him."
"I'll bring your son back to you. Vance is alive. The whole realm acknowledges him as Alpha King's only son, no one would dare to hurt him."
"Except for his grandfather," my wolf said to me.
"Alice," I called.
"Are you sure that Octavio didn't catch a whiff of your plan to escape with Vance?"
Alice shook her head, "I don't think so. It's not my father. He loved Vance so much. He wouldn't do anything to him."
I stood up and walked fast towards the Beta's room.
"Let her in," Octavio said from the inside of his room. Given how he was just here in his room sipping his wine.
"I can't be wrong. I'm sure that you know where Vance is. I command you to stop hiding him, where is Vance?"
"He's with his father. Fleeing to a place where my traitor of a daughter wouldn't be able to find them," Octavio answered truthfully.
