Astreille closed her eyes tightly as she leaned on the steering wheel. He didn't know what went into his brain and he thought it went in too early.
She has not been able to sleep since the boyfriend took her home last night. Perhaps his conscience still bothers him.
"It doesn't make sense at all," she whispered.
Xord loves her dearly, but what if she finds out that her father is one of the reasons why her brother got sick? Xord might kill him too.
She took a deep breath before composing herself. She needs to break up with Xord, not because she's afraid to get angry with it, if not for everyone's good. He will only walk away when he is calm.
Suddenly the image of the father appeared in Astreille's mind. She couldn't believe that her father was that kind of person. She did her best to make his burial memorable and peaceful, because he's a good father.
"But is he really dead?" she whispered silently.
One more thing, he didn't know if his father was really dead. When he was involved in an accident, she saw with her two eyes how her father's body was covered in blood on the hospital's bed. But she wasn't there when it was cremated, she didn't have the chance to witness it because her mother died that exact day.
Astreille stooped to take the elevator and hit the top floor. It's just 7AM but here she is, even beating the employee who boosted the boss too early.
The girl bit her lower lip when the elevator door opened. She was about to walk towards her office when the lights opened, she was even surprised when the confetti suddenly exploded around.
"Happy Birthday, Astreille!"
Astreille gasped when she roamed her eyes around the whole room. Teodore, Kal, Greg and Ephraim happily wave the banner with the words 'Happy Birthday, our princess'.
She didn't expect this. She also forgot what day it is, it's February 8, it's her birthday today but she's not on her own!
"Oh g-gosh. Thank you," she tearfully told them. The brother approached her with a smile before hugging her tightly.
"Happy birthday, my princess!" Ephraim greeted her. He handed her a small beautiful box which the girl accepted.
"Happy birthday, Astre!" kind words of Teodore and Kal before handing over the holding boxes. Teodore's was slightly bigger.
Ephraim took the boxes before placing it on the table, so that the maiden would not have difficulty in handling the gifts.
Greg came next and handed him the red box. "It's my gift for you, happy birthday, Astreille!"
"Thank you, guys. Thank you so much," Astreille cried as she wiped the tears from her cheeks.
Her brother quickly embraced her. "They can't approach you because Xord is jealous, so it's just me. Don't cry anymore, you're supposed to be happy."
"Yes, princess!" agreed the naughty Teodore who was still busy holding the torotot. "Look behind you, you'll be even happier."
Astreille turned in surprise to see what Teodore was referring to. And there he is, the love of her life, Xord.
"Happy birthday, my love," she greeted with a smile before walking closer to him.
Astreille cried and smiled bitterly as the man hugged her tightly. This might be the last time that she'll be in his arms, so he needs to make the most of it.
"T-Thank you, love," she replied.
Astreille felt the cold thing apply to her neck, she looked at that thing and she gasped in amazement when she saw a beautiful necklace.
"Baby, you don't have to--"
"It suits you so much, a beautiful necklace for a goddess," the smiling groom interrupted what he was going to say.
"Thank you, baby. I love you," Astreille said emotionally before kissing the man on the cheek.
Xord chuckled on her ears. "You're always welcome, my love. I'll do everything to make you happy."
"Come on, boss. You and the princess will be alone first. We'll take care of it at the agency. We won't let it go," Greg said teasingly.
Astreille laughed at what he said.
"Take care of the agency for a while, Ephraim. I don't trust these three assholes. The last time I let you handle it, you idiots were having a party. The agency was still full of your jokes back then," he giggled. that Xord promises to them.
The three men sniffed like gentle sheep.
"Baby, let's go. I'll take you whenever you want to go," Xord said to Astreille.
Smiling, the girl nodded to the man before saying goodbye to friends. She's just smiling the whole time, she just lost her smile when she got in the boyfriend's car.
She's so happy right now. She wonders what will happen after breaking up with Xord. He was just thinking, as if he was losing his mind. She can't afford to be away from the young man, but if it can make her boyfriend bettera, she'll risk her own happiness to let him go.
The girl watched Xord's happy face as he drove by.
She won't be able to see those smiles again.
She needs to let him go.
Xord on the other hand held Astreille's soft palm with his free arm. He squeezed her soft hand gently before stopping the car on the side of the road.
The man faced the bride with a bow. "You should be happy, baby. It's your birthday," she said smiling here.
The girl faked a smile. "I am h-happy."
Xord cleared his throat when Astreille slowly let go of his hand.
"But I'm afraid I have to be away from you, Xord," she added crying.
The young man massaged the tense jaw. He looked at her deeply. "What are you planning to do, Astreille?"
"I l-love you so much. I m-love you so much, Xord. But I have to do this," the girl continued.
Xord cupped her both cheeks before wiping her tears away.
"Baby, what's wrong? What are you talking about?"
Astreille stared into the man's eyes before mustering the courage to speak. "Let's break up, Xord."
