The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

The Chase

Ch. 454 / 790 May 05, 2026

The narrow tunnels twisted and turned, each step echoing loudly as Eryon, Misery, and Adrian fled deeper into the compound’s labyrinthine underbelly. The air was thick with dampness, the scent of earth and stone clinging to them like a shroud. Behind them, the relentless sounds of pursuit—growls, snarls, and the pounding of feet—grew louder with each passing second.

Adrian stumbled, his already weakened state making it harder for him to keep pace. “Go!” he gasped, waving them off as he leaned against the tunnel wall.

Eryon spun around, his amber eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. “Not a chance.” He grabbed Adrian’s arm, hoisting him upright with ease. “Keep moving. You’re not dying here.”

Misery brought up the rear, her blade flashing in the faint torchlight as she slashed at a warrior who got too close. The wolf yelped and fell back, giving them precious seconds to widen the gap. Her crimson eyes darted ahead. “We can’t keep this up forever,” she snapped, her voice laced with urgency.

“We won’t have to,” Eryon growled, his tone firm despite the odds. “We just need to—”

A sharp howl cut through the air, closer this time. The tunnel ahead began to brighten as more warriors approached from the opposite direction. They were surrounded.

Adrian’s fangs bared in frustration. “This is it, then.”

But before the pack could close in, a strange stillness descended over the tunnels. One by one, the pursuing warriors stopped in their tracks, their growls fading into uneasy silence. Their eyes darted nervously to the shadows around them, their ferocity replaced by an unfamiliar fear.

“What are they doing?” Misery whispered, her grip tightening on her weapon.

Eryon’s gaze flickered to the retreating wolves, his wolf instincts prickling with unease. “They’re scared.”

As if in response, the air grew colder, the oppressive chill biting through their skin. The shadows around them seemed to lengthen and twist unnaturally, moving with a sinister intent.

The silence was suffocating, broken only by the faint rustling of leaves and the distant echo of retreating footsteps. Eryon, Misery, and Adrian exchanged wary glances, their exhaustion momentarily forgotten as the strange phenomenon deepened. The dim light of the tunnel seemed to dim further, swallowed by an encroaching darkness that pulsed with malevolent energy.

Eryon stepped forward, his body tense and ready. “Something’s not right,” he muttered, his senses screaming danger.
