The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

A New Path

Ch. 474 / 790 May 05, 2026

The brilliance of the Moon Goddess Stone’s light began to fade, leaving the group in stunned silence. The hum of energy that had filled the air moments before dissipated, replaced by the sound of their ragged breaths. Lyra’s hand remained pressed against the cool surface of the stone, a faint glow still emanating from her palm as if the ancient relic were reluctant to let go of her.

The first to break the silence was Eryon. He staggered backward, his body trembling as he clutched his head. Misery rushed to his side, but he held up a hand, signaling her to stop. “I’m fine,” he said, though his voice was hoarse and uncertain. “I just need... a moment.”

Lyra’s silver eyes searched his face desperately. She stepped closer, hesitant, and placed a gentle hand on his arm. “Eryon?” she whispered.

He looked up, his gaze locking onto hers. For the first time in months, the eerie crimson glow of his eyes had softened, replaced by a flicker of amber. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to make Lyra’s heart leap with hope. His vampiric features, the harsh edges of his transformation, had dulled slightly, and his posture seemed less rigid, more human.

Lyra’s breath hitched as tears began to fall freely. “It worked,” she said, her voice trembling. “It really worked.”

Eryon turned his hands over, studying them like they belonged to someone else. “I... I feel different,” he admitted, his tone cautious. “Lighter. But it’s not... gone.”

Misery stepped beside him, her hand hovering near his shoulder as though afraid to touch him. “What do you mean?” she asked softly. “You’re changing back, aren’t you?”

Eryon shook his head slowly, his expression troubled. “The darkness—it’s still there. Faint, but... it’s there. Like a shadow that won’t leave.”

Lyra’s heart sank. She turned to the stone, placing her hand against it again, as if pleading with it to do more. Her hand glowed faintly once more, but no new surge of energy came. “Why?” she murmured, her voice cracking. “Why isn’t it finished?”

As if in answer, a voice echoed in the air around them—soft and ethereal, yet carrying an undeniable authority. It was the voice of the Moon Goddess herself. “The path to redemption is not swift, child. It is a journey of patience, perseverance, and love. Trust in the process. Trust in him.”

Eryon exhaled sharply, his expression a mixture of frustration and resignation. “So I’m supposed to just live with this? To fight it every day?”

Lyra gripped his arm tightly, her silver eyes blazing with determination. “You’re not alone in this, Eryon. We’ll fight it together. I promised you I’d bring you back, and I will.”

Cassian, who had been standing a few paces away with his arms crossed, stepped forward. His amber eyes were unreadable, but his presence commanded attention. “The King won’t stop just because we found some ancient rock,” he said bluntly. “This is a victory, but it’s not the end. Not by a long shot.”

Lyra turned to him, her jaw tightening. “I know that. But this is the first step. We’ve given Eryon a chance to fight back, and that’s more than we had before.”
