The throne room of the Vampire King was steeped in oppressive shadows, illuminated only by the flickering glow of torchlight. The air seemed to pulse with unearthly energy, charged with the weight of dark promises and ancient rituals.
Adrian and Misery stood at the room’s center, their faces drawn with tension as the King loomed over them from his throne.
In his hand, a ceremonial blade gleamed wickedly, its edges honed for more than just physical wounds. He rose slowly, his movements deliberate, as though the act itself carried the weight of judgment.
With a single, precise motion, he drew the blade across his palm, crimson blood pooling and dripping into a black chalice held by one of his silent attendants.
The rhythmic sound of blood hitting the chalice echoed like a death knell in the vast chamber.
“Kneel,” the King commanded, his voice a thunderclap in the oppressive stillness.
Adrian hesitated for a heartbeat, his crimson eyes blazing with defiance before he lowered himself to one knee. Misery followed suit, her movements less sure but no less resolute. The King’s gaze swept over them, cold and calculating, as he descended the steps of his throne, the chalice in his grasp.
He held it aloft, the liquid within swirling unnaturally as though alive.
“This is your blood oath,” he intoned, his voice a mix of menace and triumph. “Drink, and swear fealty to me. Bind yourselves to my will, and accept my dominion over your very existence. Betray me, and death will come swifter than a whisper.”
Adrian reached for the chalice first, his jaw tight as he accepted the weight of the cup. With a steady hand, he raised it to his lips, the metallic tang of the blood hitting his tongue. It burned like fire as he swallowed, the dark magic coursing through him in a searing wave.
He handed the chalice to Misery, his gaze silently urging her to be strong.
Misery took the chalice with trembling hands, her breath shallow as she glanced at the King’s expectant gaze. The liquid seemed to glisten malevolently as she raised it to her lips.
The first sip was like swallowing molten iron, the dark power making her body shudder involuntarily. She drained the chalice, her resolve hardening as she set it down.
The King’s smile was a slow, predatory curve. “It is done,” he said, his voice low and chilling. “You are mine now, bound by blood and darkness. Welcome to my court.”
