The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

The Wedding Begins

Ch. 480 / 790 May 05, 2026

The grand hall of the Vampire King’s court was an unsettling mixture of beauty and menace. Crystal chandeliers bathed the room in shimmering light, their glow reflecting off the dark, polished walls.

Guests filled the space, their whispers a soft hum of intrigue and malice. The air was thick with tension, as if even the walls knew the weight of what was about to happen.

At the altar stood Adrian, his usually expressive face unreadable. His hands rested stiffly at his sides, his crimson eyes fixed on the ornate double doors at the far end of the hall. His mind churned with conflicting emotions—anger, resignation, and a flicker of something he didn’t want to name.

The doors creaked open, and the room fell silent. Misery entered, her gown flowing like liquid shadows, its dark fabric shimmering faintly with an otherworldly light.

A veil partially obscured her face, but her eyes—filled with a mix of defiance and sorrow—shone through. Her every step was deliberate, her head held high despite the turmoil within.

The Vampire King sat on his throne at the far end of the hall, his crimson eyes gleaming with satisfaction.

“A new era begins,” he announced, his voice reverberating through the grand hall. “This union cements our dominion.”

Misery reached the altar, her trembling hands meeting Adrian’s. For a brief moment, their eyes met—hers pleading, his silently reassuring. The King gestured for the ceremony to begin, his generals and shadowbound guards watching with interest.

The officiant, cloaked in deep red, began the ritual, his voice a cold monotone. Adrian and Misery repeated the vows, their words heavy with the weight of their predicament. Each phrase felt like a chain tightening around their necks.

When the moment came to seal the ceremony, Misery hesitated, her hands shaking. Adrian squeezed her fingers gently, his voice low enough for only her to hear.

“We’ll find a way out of this. Together.”

She nodded, her throat tight as she pressed her lips to his in a kiss that felt more like a farewell than a promise. The room erupted in applause, the King’s triumphant laughter echoing above the din.

As they turned to face the court, the King rose, his crimson eyes scanning the room.

“Let this day mark the dawn of a new reign,” he declared. “Together, we will reshape this world.”

Meanwhile, Lyra lingered by the edge of the courtyard, watching the warriors disperse after their evening drills. The glow of the torches cast long, flickering shadows on the stone walls, amplifying her unease.

She turned to leave, hoping to slip away unnoticed, but a familiar, commanding presence stopped her in her tracks.

Cassian strode toward her with a determined intensity that made her pulse quicken. His amber eyes locked onto hers, dark with unspoken purpose. “You’ve been avoiding me,” he said, his voice low and sharp, the accusation clear.

“I haven’t,” Lyra replied, though the tremor in her voice betrayed her. She clasped her hands tightly in front of her to still their trembling.

Cassian’s gaze narrowed, studying her with unsettling focus.

“Don’t lie to me, Lyra.” His tone softened briefly, but the edge of authority remained. “I’m doing this for us—for the pack, for our future. Everything I’ve done has been to keep you safe.”

Lyra’s throat tightened, her mind racing for the right response. “I know, Cassian,” she said quietly. “And I’m grateful for what you’ve done.”

“Grateful isn’t enough,” Cassian growled, stepping closer until his imposing figure loomed over her. “You’re my Luna. You carry my mark. It’s time we fulfill what that means.”

Her breath caught, and she instinctively stepped back, but Cassian closed the distance. His hand reached out, brushing a strand of hair from her face, his touch lingering as his eyes searched hers.

“No more running, Lyra. No more distractions. Tonight, we’re making this official.”

Lyra’s heart pounded as his words sank in. She opened her mouth to protest, but the intensity in his gaze silenced her. “Cassian… I…” she began, but her voice faltered.

Cassian tilted his head, his voice softening ever so slightly. “Together, we’ll secure the pack’s future. Healers will prepare fertility potions—everything will be in place. This is how it’s meant to be.”

Tears threatened to spill, but Lyra forced herself to nod faintly. The weight of her obligations bore down on her, trapping her in a role she wasn’t sure she could escape. Cassian’s hand cupped her cheek, his touch firm yet oddly tender.

“You’ll see, Lyra,” he murmured, his voice almost soothing. “This is the path the Moon Goddess chose for us.”

As the night deepened, Lyra followed him inside, her mind a maelstrom of doubt, duty, and the faint, fragile hope that she could one day reclaim her own choices.
