The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Misery’s Despair

Ch. 479 / 790 May 05, 2026

The dim light of the chamber cast long shadows across the walls as Misery sat by the window, her gaze fixed on the dark forest beyond. Her hand rested on her stomach, the faint pulse of life beneath it a constant reminder of the precarious path ahead. Her thoughts spiraled—what kind of future could she offer a child born into a world ruled by the Vampire King? The weight of her choices crushed her, each one seemingly worse than the last.

A soft knock at the door pulled her from her thoughts. Adrian stepped in, his expression steady but carrying a flicker of vulnerability he rarely showed. He closed the door behind him, his crimson eyes locking on her. “You’ve been quiet,” he said, his voice low.

Misery turned away, her lips trembling. “What is there to say, Adrian? We’re trapped. This child… this child doesn’t deserve the life they’re bound for.”

Adrian moved closer, kneeling beside her chair. “You’re wrong,” he said firmly. “This child deserves a chance. A chance at freedom, at a life not controlled by him.”

Misery’s hand tightened over her abdomen, her other hand clutching the edge of the chair. “How can you be so sure? He’ll never let us go. We’re his pawns, Adrian, and pawns don’t survive long in this game.”

Adrian’s expression darkened, his jaw clenching. “Then we’ll stop being pawns. We’ll find a way out of this. We’ll play his game until we can turn the board against him.”

Tears welled in Misery’s eyes as she shook her head. “You’re too idealistic. He has us tied to him, Adrian. One wrong move, and we’re dead. Or worse.”

Adrian reached out, gently taking her trembling hand in his. “Listen to me,” he said, his voice steady and resolute. “I know it feels hopeless. But I swear to you, I’ll find a way. We’ll find a way. And if it comes to it, I’ll protect you and this child with my life. That’s a promise.”

Misery’s composure cracked as a tear slipped down her cheek. She leaned forward, resting her forehead against Adrian’s. “I want to believe you,” she whispered. “I really do.”

Adrian’s hand tightened over hers. “Then believe me. You’re not alone in this, Misery. We’ll survive. And one day, he’ll fall.”

The two sat in silence, the weight of their shared determination hanging in the air. Outside, the forest loomed dark and foreboding, but in their small corner of the castle, a glimmer of hope began to take root.
